Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear provides a straightforward
introduction to the principles of form pattern cutting for garments
to fit the body shape, and flat pattern cutting for casual garments
and jersey wear. This sixth edition remains true to the original
concept: it offers a range of good basic blocks, an introduction to
the basic principles of pattern cutting and examples of their
application into garments. Fully revised and updated to include a
brand new and improved layout, up-to-date skirt and trouser blocks
that reflect the changes in body sizing, along with updates to the
computer-aided design section and certain blocks, illustrations and
diagrams. This best-selling textbook still remains the essential
purchase for students and beginners looking to understand pattern
cutting and building confidence to develop their own pattern
cutting style.

This is great a resource for adapting patterns that already fit well. The drafting instructions for the standard blocks (bodice and pants) didn't work for me. I ended up using patterns that already fit me well. Despite this, I would buy this book again.
Update: since this review I've attempted to draft blocks again. This time I used the standard measurements given in the book, as opposed to my personal measurements, and I assumed a dressmakers b-cup. The block fits perfectly apart from a few expected adjustments. I think where I went wrong the first time was drafting based on my actual bust measurement, as opposed to assuming a dressmakers b-cup then doing a full bust adjustment.
The bodice blocks in this book are the best fitting I've encountered so far. I've tried various fitting shells and patterns - all needed a million adjustments.
