Plasmaphysik gibt eine systematische EinfA1/4hrung in die Methoden zur theoretischen Beschreibung physikalischer Prozesse in ionisierten Gasen. Ausgehend vom mikroskopischen Teilchenbild werden die Gleichungen sowohl fA1/4r eine mikroskopische als auch fA1/4r eine makroskopische Beschreibung eines Plasmas abgeleitet. Soweit es ohne grAAeren mathematischen Aufwand mAglich ist, werden relativistische Effekte berA1/4cksichtigt. Besonders diskutiert wird die Frage, welche NAherung welcher Fragestellung angemessen ist.
Als Beispiele werden Fragestellungen aus der Astrophysik, der MagnetosphArenphysik, sowie Laborexperimente diskutiert. Insbesondere werden Gleichgewichtskonfigurationen, InstabilitAten und Wellen in den verschiedenen NAherungen behandelt.
