Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is an established approach to support multilingualism in Europe by teaching various school subjects in an additional language. The practices used, however, vary considerably. Our book considers this diversity by looking at CLIL scenarios, defined as learning environments supporting content learning, language learning and skill development in task-based learning settings, with a strong focus on interaction in different curricular contexts (primary and secondary school and CLIL teacher education at university) and at various levels of proficiency (primary, secondary, tertiary). CLIL by Interaction is understood here both as negotiation of meaning and form as well as discourse to empower CLIL learners to participate in social interaction.

Based on ethnographic research in Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany, this book presents a novel approach to studying Muslim militant activism. While much existing research focuses on the process of radicalization, these authors introduce a different set of questions that investigate specific modes of activism, and their engagement with dominant discourses and practices in media and state policies. Drawing on social movement theory and Foucault's work on counter-conduct, this research explores how da'wa networks came about, and how activists developed themselves in interaction with state and media practices. This perspective highlights a form of activism and resistance in which activists turn against policies and debates centring on Muslims and Islam, while attempting to create and protect an alternative space for themselves in which they can experience Islam according to their own perception of it. The study will contribute to debates about resistance, social movements and militant activism among Muslims in Europe.

Beim Erlernen einer Fremdsprache im schulischen Kontext ist der Umgang mit Woerterbuchern relevant. Die Autorin untersucht die Verwendung von Online-Woerterbuchern in einem themengeleiteten und schulerorientierten Englischunterricht der Grundschule. Anhand quantitativer und qualitativer Forschungsmethoden betrachtet sie empirisch, ob und inwiefern die Verfugbarkeit eines Online-Woerterbuches zum erfolgreichen autonomen Lernen in den Bereichen Wortschatzerweiterung und Wortschatzbehalten fuhrt. Schuler unterschiedlicher Leistungsniveaus werden besonders in den Blick genommen. Die Erkenntnisse der Arbeit stellen weitreichende Implikationen fur die Steigerung der Lernerautonomie, der individuellen Foerderung und fur die Sicherung langerfristiger Retention dar.

Der vorliegende Band legt die Ergebnisse des XI. Mediendidaktischen Kolloquiums fur Fremdsprachendidaktik vor. Er widmet sich der Frage, wie die integrierte Nutzung digitaler Medien in kompetenz- und aufgabenorientierten Unterrichtsszenarien gelingen und wie und mit welchen Zielen das Web 2.0 im Rahmen komplexer Kompetenzaufgaben eingesetzt werden kann. Die Schwerpunkte der Beitrage liegen auf den Moeglichkeiten der integrierten Fertigkeitenschulung mit dem Web 2.0, insbesondere des Sprechens, Hoerens und Schreibens, der Individualisierung und Binnendifferenzierung in webbasierten Lernszenarien sowie der Initiierung von kollaborativen Lernprozessen. Zudem wird das Potenzial des Web 2.0 fur die Entwicklung der interkulturellen und literarisch-asthetischen Kompetenz eroertert.

Seit der Einfuhrung des Europaischen Portfolios der Sprachen (EPS) im Jahr 2001 ist dem Portfolio ein starkes Potenzial zur Veranderung der Lernkultur im Fremdsprachenunterricht zugeschrieben worden. Die quantitative empirische Studie untersucht die Wirksamkeit der Portfolioimplementierung sowie das Modifikationspotenzial des EPS aus der Sicht von Lehrkraften. Der niedersachsische Modellversuch zur Einfuhrung des EPS wird evaluiert und die Untersuchungsergebnisse zur Bildung eines Modells fur die Implementierung herangezogen. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, dass das Innovationspotenzial des EPS nur wirken kann, wenn Lehrkrafte Veranderungen auf den Ebenen der Organisation sowie der Lern- und Gesprachskultur vornehmen.
