Advances in Harmonic Analysis and Operator Theory - The Stefan Samko Anniversary Volume (Paperback, 2013 ed.): Alexandre... Advances in Harmonic Analysis and Operator Theory - The Stefan Samko Anniversary Volume (Paperback, 2013 ed.)
Alexandre Almeida, Luis Castro, Frank-Olme Speck
R4,916 Discovery Miles 49 160 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume is dedicated to Professor Stefan Samko on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. The contributions display the range of his scientific interests in harmonic analysis and operator theory. Particular attention is paid to fractional integrals and derivatives, singular, hypersingular and potential operators in variable exponent spaces, pseudodifferential operators in various modern function and distribution spaces, as well as related applications, to mention but a few. Most contributions were firstly presented in two conferences at Lisbon and Aveiro, Portugal, in June-July 2011.

Singular Integral Operators, Factorization and Applications - International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications IWOTA 2000, Portugal (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2003)
Albrecht Boettcher, Marinus A. Kaashoek, Amarino Brites Lebre, Antonio F. dos Santos, Frank-Olme Speck
R2,993 Discovery Miles 29 930 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume contains the proceedings of the International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications held at the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, September 12-15, in the year 2000. The main topics of the conference were !> Factorization Theory; !> Factorization and Integrable Systems; !> Operator Theoretical Methods in Diffraction Theory; !> Algebraic Techniques in Operator Theory; !> Applications to Mathematical Physics and Related Topics. A total of 94 colleagues from 21 countries participated in the conference. The major part of participants came from Portugal (32), Germany (17), Israel (6), Mexico (6), the Netherlands (5), USA (4) and Austria (4). The others were from Ukraine, Venezuela (3 each), Spain, Sweden (2 each), Algeria, Australia, Belorussia, France, Georgia, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Russia and Turkey (one of each country). It was the 12th meeting in the framework of the IWOTA conferences which started in 1981 on an initiative of Professors 1. Gohberg (Tel Aviv) and J. W. Helton (San Diego). Up to now, it was the largest conference in the field of Operator Theory in Portugal.

Operator Theoretical Methods and Applications to Mathematical Physics - The Erhard Meister Memorial Volume (Paperback,... Operator Theoretical Methods and Applications to Mathematical Physics - The Erhard Meister Memorial Volume (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2004)
Israel Gohberg, Antonio F. dos Santos, Frank-Olme Speck, Francisco Sepulveda Teixeira, Wolfgang L. Wendland
R3,021 Discovery Miles 30 210 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume is devoted to the life and work of the applied mathematician Professor Erhard Meister (1930-2001). He was a member of the editorial boards of this book series Operator The ory: Advances and Applications as well as of the journal Integral Equations and Operator Theory, both published by Birkhauser (now part of Springer-Verlag). Moreover he played a decisive role in the foundation of these two series by helping to establish contacts between Birkhauser and the founder and present chief editor of this book series after his emigration from Moldavia in 1974. The volume is divided into two parts. Part A contains reminiscences about the life of E. Meister including a short biography and an exposition of his professional work. Part B displays the wide range of his scientific interests through eighteen original papers contributed by authors with close scientific and personal relations to E. Meister. We hope that a great part of the numerous features of his life and work can be re-discovered from this book."

Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications (Hardcover, 2008 ed.): Maria Amelia Bastos, Israel Gohberg, Amarino Brites... Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications (Hardcover, 2008 ed.)
Maria Amelia Bastos, Israel Gohberg, Amarino Brites Lebre, Frank-Olme Speck
R4,568 Discovery Miles 45 680 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book is composed of three survey lecture courses and some twenty invited research papers presented to WOAT 2006 - the International Summer School and Workshop on Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications, which was held at Lisbon in September 2006. The volume reflects recent developments in the area of operator algebras and their interaction with research fields in complex analysis and operator theory. The lecture courses contain: an introduction to two classes of non-selfadjoint operator algebras, the generalized analytic Toeplitz algebras associated with the Fock space of a graph and subalgebras of graph C*-algebras; three topics on numerical functional analysis that are the cornerstones in asymptotic spectral theory: stability, fractality and Fredholmness; a survey concerning Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions on Hermitian symmetric domains of arbitrary rank and dimension, in relation to operator theory, harmonic analysis and quantization.
