This book provides a broad description of the development and
(computational) application of many-electron approaches from a
multidisciplinary perspective. In the context of studying
many-electron systems Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and
Physics are all intimately interconnected. However, beyond a
handful of communities working at the interface between these
disciplines, there is still a marked separation of subjects. This
book seeks to offer a common platform for possible exchanges
between the various fields and to introduce the reader to
perspectives for potential further developments across the
disciplines. The rapid advances of modern technology will
inevitably require substantial improvements in the approaches
currently used, which will in turn make exchanges between
disciplines indispensable. In essence this book is one of the very
first attempts at an interdisciplinary approach to the
many-electron problem.
In international culinary history, Germany is still largely a blank
space, its unparalleled wealth of source material and large body of
published research available only to readers of German. This books
aims to give everybody else an overview of German foodways at a
crucial juncture in its history. The Reformation era, broadly
speaking from the Imperial Reforms of the 1480s to the beginning of
the Thirty Years' War, laid the foundations for many developments
in German culture, language, and history, not least the notion of
its existence as a country. Understanding the food traditions and
habits of the time is important to anyone studying Germany's
culinary history and identity. Using original source material, food
production, processing and consumption are explored with a view to
the social significance of food and the practicalities of feeding a
growing population. Food habits across the social spectrum are
presented, looking at the foodways of rich and poor in city and
country. The study shows a foodscape richly differentiated by
region, class, income, gender and religion, but united by a shared
culinary identity that was just beginning to emerge. An appendix of
recipes helps the reader gain an appreciation of the practical
aspects of food in the age of Martin Luther.

An increasing number of companies regard Business Process Redesign
(BPR) as a significant means of improving their competitive
position. The initial euphoria is being superseded by a more
pragmatic assessment. This book demonstrates how a systematic,
practical yet creative procedure can lead to more reliably
successful BPR projects. Case studies and investigations support
the superiority of a systematic, method-based approach as opposed
to an "intuitive" one.Consequently, before the start of a project a
method must be selected which corresponds to the strategic goals of
the project and is suited to the company environment. This book
formulates the central principles and criteria for this, which are
derived from practical experience. A procedural model and
checklists help the reader to define what he requires from the
method. From these criteria are then derived suitable BPR tools. Of
particular importance here is the underlying cost-benefit
analysis. The book describes over a dozen BPR methods and as many
tools within a uniform framework. This ensures comparability and
allows correlation with project-specific requirements. Particular
attention is paid to method-tool combinations that are designed for
combined use.Immer mehr Unternehmen sehen im Business Process
Redesign (BPR) ein wesentliches Mittel, ihre Wettbewerbsfahigkeit
zu steigern. Die anfangliche Euphorie weicht heute einer
sachlicheren Betrachtung. Das Buch zeigt auf, warum ein
systematisches, ingenieurmassiges, aber gleichzeitig kreatives
Vorgehen sicherer zu erfolgreichen BPR-Projekten fuhrt.Fallstudien
und empirische Untersuchungen untermauern die Uberlegenheit des
systematischen, methodisch unterstutzten gegenuber dem "intuitiven"
Ansatz.
Kriterien. Ein Vorgehensmodel
