This extremely hard mineral is mined at Weipa in Far North Queensland. Calcinated Bauxite can be used in mixed media, collography and collage as well as for adding texture to paintings. It is extremely hard. Atelier : Acrylic Medium : 250ml : Matte Medium
Atelier’s Unlocking Formula has been specifically designed to help you control the drying of Atelier Interactive. It allows you to keep your acrylic paint wet for as long as you need. Mix the Unlocking Formula into your paint with either a brush or an atomiser spray. This formula will keep your paint wet, it will also re-wet or re-open recently dried paint. Once the paint is re-opened, new paint can be blended back in, existing paint edges can be feathered or whole sections can be removed with a rag to reveal under layers. It can be used in a variety of ways for effect and texture or as a finish in itself. Use as either a striking decorative effect or a distinctive texture on paintings and indoor sculptures, or sprinkle onto a freshly painted surface. Where a rough texture has been chosen, care should be taken – a hard and rocky surface can scratch the unwary once the work is dry. For best aesthetic results mix with Derivan Gel Medium or Polymer Gloss Varnish (water-based), as anything with a matt finish will marr the final result. Use as much as needed from desired effect.
