"The finest statement of the Christian message I have read!" -Dr. Barry Bailey, retired pastor of one of America's largest United Methodist churches (First UMC, Ft. Worth)

"An exceptional challenge by a devoted Christian scholar!" -Dr. Robert Richardson, retired executive, Mercer University, Macon, Georgia

There are truths and falsehoods, treasures and trash, in what we call the Holy Bible and "Christianity." Separating those elements is not always easy. Through the centuries, our churches have added a multitude of beliefs and practices to the life and religion of Jesus of Nazareth. Some of those beliefs and practices are appropriate expressions of Jesus' mind and spirit. Others are far from, even caricatures of, what Jesus would want. For eighty years I have learned and taught about "Christianity," at personal, community, church, college, university, state, national, and international levels. I have learned that there are many "Christianities," some loving, some hateful, some intelligent, some stupid, some healing, some hurtful. If we are going to live our Christianity-in our small and big worlds-may God help us get it "right! "

Evidence That Demands a Verdict Study Guide - Jesus and the Gospels (Paperback): Josh McDowell, Sean McDowell Evidence That Demands a Verdict Study Guide - Jesus and the Gospels (Paperback)
Josh McDowell, Sean McDowell
R252 Discovery Miles 2 520 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

For more than forty years, Evidence That Demands a Verdict has encouraged and
strengthened millions of people around the world. It has convinced skeptics of the
Bible's reliability, helped believers articulate their faith, and given them the vital facts
they need to defend God's Word and lead others to faith in Jesus. The book has now
been revised and updated to include newly uncovered historical documentation, recent
scholarship, and new and expanded chapters to address recent attacks on Christianity.

In this new six-session video study (DVD/digital downloads sold separately), Josh and
his son, Sean, help believers in Christ understand how the books of the New Testament
came into being, how they differ from "Gnostic" and non-biblical texts, and why they
can be sure that the New Testament books are historically reliable. They also examine
how believers can know that Jesus existed, why the claims he made about himself are
true, how he fulfilled Old Testament prophecies about himself, and how believers can
know the resurrection took place.

This study is for anyone who has ever been stumped by someone's arguments against
Christianity or the Bible-or has wondered for themselves if the Bible's depiction of Jesus
is true and not just a made-up fairy tale. It has been specifically created to help
Christians know what they believe, why it is true, and how they communicate biblical
truth to a skeptical world.

This study guide is designed for use with the Evidence That Demands a Verdict Video
Study (sold separately).

So begins the true story of a five month long "conversation" by e-mail between the young Kathy and the author, Doctor Wilson Asawu, after he returns home from the suburban community where she attended his church seminar. The sequence of e-mail between them shows how - one cautious, but trusting step after another -- she finally fulfills her desire to enter a personal relationship with God. When she has and after she makes her testimony to her sister and her mother, they do the same. Kathy's story exposes and addresses the "false start" syndrome: growing up in a comfortable Christian home, believing all the right things, but finally lacking the assurance in one's heart that one is a child of God. For any such children, Kathy's Good News could be their good news, too.

God and His Coexistent Relations to the Universe - Scientific Advances of the Little Gods from Pantheism Through Deism, Theism,... God and His Coexistent Relations to the Universe - Scientific Advances of the Little Gods from Pantheism Through Deism, Theism, and Atheism to Panenthe (Hardcover)
George D. Shollenberger
R878 Discovery Miles 8 780 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

In the book, God and His Coexistent Relations to the Universe, the author is rejecting the universe that Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein have accepted for a long period. To replace this old universe, an improved universe appeared from the thoughts of Confucius, Anaxagoras, Plato, and Jesus, who taught the death of our sun in Ch. 24 of Matthew. Unfortunately, this teaching by Jesus was quieted for fifteen centuries by Irenaeus, until Copernicus stood up and said that earth is not the center of the universe. So, an improved universe was becoming very interesting to many scientists.. This improved universe of Copernicus would expand when Kepler found that our sun has a system of eight precise planets. Slowly, the improved universe would become very clear when Leibniz found the immortal human souls and when Galileo found the bodies are made by these immortal souls. In 1766, Ben Franklin went to Germany in order to learn the immortal souls of Leibniz. In the next ten years, Americans would separate America from England, which still accepts the old universe. After this separation, more discoveries would come to the USA from German and Chinese thoughts. For example, Riemann would tell the world that the relationships of bodies in the universe can be determined only by our senses and measurements. With Riemann s statement, the author concluded that God is always active. The author also found that God and the bodies in the universe come together with co-existent concepts. With these advances, the author rejects the old universe and says that the people of many nations will form a new religion under an active God."

Preaching - How to Preach Biblically (Paperback): John F Macarthur, Master's Seminary Faculty Preaching - How to Preach Biblically (Paperback)

R507 Discovery Miles 5 070 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Learn to Preach Expository Sermons with Excellence Many sermons preached today lack the divine knowledge and spiritual understanding available only through dynamic expository preaching. In Preaching: How to Preach Biblically, John MacArthur's well-known passion for the Bible combines with the expertise of faculty members at The Master's Seminary to inspire and equip preachers in effective biblical preaching. Preaching: How to Preach Biblically flows from biblical foundations for expository preaching through a detailed process of developing expositions and creating sermons to the actual delivery of expository messages, connecting what pastors learn in seminary with the sermons preached in a local church. This volume shows how to progress purposefully from one phase to the next in preparing to minister to God's people through preaching. This book answers these questions and more: What is expository, biblical preaching? What are the theological and historical foundations for insisting on expository preaching? What are the steps involved in preparation for and participation in biblical preaching? What models exist for expository preaching today? The Master's Seminary faculty, with over thirty years' experience in preaching and seminary training of preachers, contributes a treasury of expertise alongside insights from expositor John MacArthur. While united on their commitment to exposition, the variety of individual expressions and methodological preferences discussed offers beneficial assistance for any preacher seeking a higher level of expository excellence.
