In 1714 Parliament offer a £20,000 prize for anyone who can provide an accurate means of measuring longitude at sea. John Harrison (Michael Gambon) flies in the face of popular opinion by saying that the stars do not provide the answer, and provides his own solution with the invention of a mechanical clock. However, it takes Harrison forty years to prove his theory, and he is eventually forgotten in the mists of time. Centuries later, Robert Gould (Jeremy Irons) attempts to restore Harrison's reputation by tracking down and repairing the four clocks he originally constructed.

Sisters Amy (Amber Marshall) and Lou Fleming (Michelle Morgan) help their grandfather, Jack Bartlett (Shaun Johnston), rear horses in Alberta, Canada, in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Christmas is usually a time of year that brings the family together, but with concern that an avalanche has trapped some horses, Amy and Lou break away from the festive celebrations to investigate. As time passes, Jack and the rest of the family become increasingly worried about the girls. Will they make it back in time for a happy Christmas?

In order to ascend the social ladder, Duroy seduces a string of influential society beauties including Madeleine Forestier (Thurman), Virginie Walters (Kristen Scott Thomas) and Clotilde de Marelle (Christina Ricci). His peasant background has soon become a distant memory as he achieves dizzying success both in his career and in fashionable society.
Hugh Hudson directs this nostalgic tribute to Cambridge University athletes Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell, recounting the events of the 1924 Olympics. Abrahams (Ben Cross) is a Jew who experiences racial prejudice at Cambridge, while Liddell (Ian Charleson) is a Scot who runs for the glory of God. The two become rivals on the track, and both are chosen to represent Britain at the Paris Olympics. However, a problem arises when Lidell learns that he is expected to compete on the Sabbath; something that goes directly against his religious beliefs. The film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Costume Design, and received a further three nominations.
All eight episodes from the first season of Olivier Marchal's French police thriller series. The series follows a group of police led by Eddy Caplan (Jean-Hugues Anglade) who use violent and unorthodox methods in their criminal investigations. When this is brought to the attention of Internal Affairs, the department is faced with the difficult and dangerous task of exposing the group's methods and putting a stop to them. Meanwhile, Caplan and his colleagues attempt to discover who is responsible for smearing the reputation of their former leader who has committed suicide following spurious allegations of corruption. The episodes are: 'Max', 'La Ligne Jaune', 'La Tête Dans le Sac', 'L'Autre Rive', 'Loin Derrière la Nuit', 'Tarif de Groupe', 'Tangente' and 'Eddy'.
After his parents' death, fish counter Axel Backmar (Johnny Depp) travels to Arizona for the wedding of his car dealer uncle, Leo Sweetie (Jerry Lewis). Feeling responsible for Axel, Leo offers to take him into the family business. While working at the car showroom, Axel meets older woman Elaine (Faye Dunaway) and her stepdaughter, Grace (Lili Taylor). Axel alienates his uncle by beginning an affair with Elaine, who is obsessed with building a functioning aircraft, and he also becomes caught up in the deteriorating relationship between her and Grace.
Lars von Trier directs this sci-fi drama about the effects of depression on two sisters, Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg). Played out in two acts, the film opens with the wedding of Justine (Dunst) and Michael (Alexander Skarsgård): a sumptuous affair paid for by Justine's Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her husband John (Kiefer Sutherland). However, when Justine notices a strange star in the sky, she starts behaving oddly and the wedding is ruined. The film's second act follows Justine, now extremely weak and ill, after she goes to live with her sister. As Claire and John struggle to deal with Justine's condition, astronomy buff Claire becomes increasingly concerned about a large blue planet that is threatening to collide with the earth. Charlotte Rampling and John Hurt co-star.
Tense drama following the relationship between a self-destructive, alcoholic widower and a Christian charity shop worker. Joseph (Peter Mullan) is an aggressive and self-destructive loner who suffers from extreme mood swings and an inability to keep his temper in check. One such lack of control forces him to flee into a charity shop to hide from three youths. Here he strikes up an unlikely friendship with Hannah (Olivia Colman), a volunteer who attempts to calm Joseph and offer him a Christian way out of his troubles. Despite their differences, a relationship develops between the two. However, will the other man in Hannah's life, her husband, James (Eddie Marsan), have something to say about the burgeoning friendship?
Upon hearing that an old friend has died, a writer (Richard Dreyfuss) reminisces about his childhood in the Fifties. As a twelve-year-old boy, Gordie's (Will Wheaton) friends consisted of 'bad' kid Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy (Corey Feldman) and the pudgy Vern (Jerry O'Conell). When the latter hears his older brother bragging that his gang have seen the dead body of a local missing person by the railway track, the four boys set out to find the corpse for themselves. Rob Reiner directs this adaptation of Stephen King's novella 'The Body'.

Military drama inspired by the Fort Bragg murders of 2002, which saw four military wives killed by their husbands. However, when Arthur Clenham (Matthew Macfadyen), recently returned from abroad, comes to suspect that his late father was in part responsible for the Dorrits' plight, he becomes determined to make amends. But as he continues to delve into the mysteries of the Dorrits' and his parents' shared past, he is unaware that his own mother's house has been placed in peril by the arrival of a sinister stranger.
