Thriller starring Susan George. After their parents divorce, one daughter lives with her mother in England while the other lives with her father in Portugal. Following the death of her mother, Marianne (George) stands to inherit a large sum of money and also a number of documents containing information that will incriminate her father, who was a crooked judge. As knowledge of her new found wealth circulates, would-be kidnappers conspire to kill her and claim the substantial sum of money. While her father wants the documents, her sister wants the money and they will each stop at nothing to get what they want.
When the USA satellites photograph many flying saucers coming to Earth, the American president has a meeting with his advisors. His science advisor convinces him that since Martians would be a developed culture, they would be peaceful by nature, despite the warnings of his military advisors. Soon, the authorities and civilians prepare a welcoming committee for the aliens. But they're about to discover that they've made a fatal misjudment.

He bungles the robbery and is caught up in a stand-off with police, bargaining with the lives of his hostages. The event soon gets television coverage and the hostages begin to get friendly with their kidnappers, while their attempts to bargain are bungled all the way. Directed by Sidney Lumet.
William Shatner stars as warring twin brothers in this action-packed western. Drifting cowboy Johnny Moon (Shatner) is forced to defend the town of Rio Honcho when his tribal Indian twin brother Notah (also Shatner) has the drug-induced revelation that he must lead the Comanche Nation in a war against the whites. With Rio Honcho, led by Sheriff Logan (Joseph Cotten), already at breaking point Johnny must first defeat his peyote-loving brother before he can save the rest of the townspeople who are demanding his help.
Collection of five western feature films. 'The Searchers' (1956) tells the story of Ethan Edwards (John Wayne), an ex-confederate soldier who swears revenge after his brother's family is butchered by Comanches and his niece (Natalie Wood) is kidnapped. Accompanied by Martin Pawley (Jeffrey Hunter), Ethan sets out on an epic seven-year search for the missing girl. In 'Pale Rider' (1985) a community of gold mining prospectors comes under attack from a gang of marauders who are after the prospectors' land. Young Megan Wheeler (Sydney Penny) prays for help, which consequently arrives in the form of the Preacher (Clint Eastwood), a grim, silent stranger. In 'The Wild Bunch' (1969), set in 1913, a gang of outlaws (William Holden, Ernest Borgnine and Warren Oates, amongst others) ride into a Texan border town where the railroad office is their target. The robbery turns into a blood-bath so the gang flee to a desert hideout where they discover that their loot is worthless... In 'Rio Bravo' (1959) Sheriff John T. Chance (Wayne) is holding a murderous villain in his cell while waiting for a magistrate to collect him for trial. The criminal's associates are desperate to free him and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal... 'How the West Was Won' (1962) traces the fortunes of several generations of an American pioneer family as they move West and cope with the Civil War. The film's several sections were made by different directors, including Henry Hathaway and John Ford. Spencer Tracy narrates, while Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, James Stewart and John Wayne top the all-star bill.
Clint Eastwood directs this feature film adaptation of the multi award-winning Broadway musical about 1960s pop group The Four Seasons. John Lloyd Young reprises his stage role as Frankie Valli, who is discovered by guitarist Tommy DeVito (Vincent Piazza), and along with bass player Nick Massi (Michael Lomenda) and keyboardist/songwriter Bob Gaudio (Erich Gergen) forms The Four Seasons. They sign a contract with producer Bob Crewe (Mike Doyle) and gradually find success but relationships within the band become strained over time. Narrated by each group member in turn, the story follows their rise to fame and eventual break-up, as well as the personal troubles they face along the way. The film features songs such as 'Rag Doll', 'Sherry', 'Big Girls Don't Cry', 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and 'Who Loves You'.
Two blaxploitation horror movies. In 'Blacula' (1972), two centuries after having a curse placed on him by Count Dracula in Transylvania, African Prince Mamuwalde (William Marshall) is transported to Los Angeles where he goes on a killer rampage. While he discovers a woman (Vonetta McGee) he believes to be the reincarnation of his late wife, Mamuwalde already has a vampire-hunting doctor (Thalmus Rasulala) on his trail. In 'Scream Blacula Scream' (1973), after his undoing in 'Blacula', Mamuwalde (Marshall) returns from the dead in modern-day Los Angeles. He soon comes up against a voodoo priestess (Pam Grier).
John Roberts directs this romantic comedy following a pair of sisters who head to Cuba to scatter the ashes of their deceased father. Rosa (Eva Birthistle), a committed socialist, is determined to rescue the memory of her father from the fate her stepmother has planned: using his ashes to make a golf trophy. In tribute to her father's glamorous past as a revolutionary who once visited Cuba, she steals the ashes and heads to the Caribbean island in the company of her more materialistic sister Ailie (Charity Wakefield) and their friend Conway (Bryan Dick). They come face-to-face with both the good and bad of the island in the form of conman Ernesto (Christopher Simpson) and protective tour guide Tomas (Carlos Acosta). How will the experience change them?
No-holds-barred combat drama written and directed by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg. The film follows a group of four US Navy SEALs as they are deployed on a mission to kill or capture Ahmed Shahd (Yousuf Azami), a formidable Taliban leader. While working carefully to avoid detection, the team are spotted by a local goat herder and his two sons. Faced with the tough decision between killing them, an act that would be against the Geneva Conventions, and setting them free, which would potentially compromise their cover, the team choose the humane but risky option. But when one of the boys informs the local Taliban of the SEALs' whereabouts it isn't long before the team are engaged in a bloody and ferocious battle. The ensemble cast includes Emile Hirsch, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana.
War drama starring Mira Sorvino and Gabriel Byrne. At the height of World War II, English journalist Kate Davis (Sorvino) becomes trapped within the besieged city of Leningrad. Separated from her lover, writer Philip Parker (Byrne), and presumed dead, Kate is rescued by Nina Tsvetkova (Olga Sutulova), a female member of the Leningrad militia. Joining forces with a makeshift band of survivors in the famished city, the two women battle to stay alive throughout the devastating 800-day siege.
A daughter tries to reunite her warring family in this food-centred comedy set in Leicester's 'Little India'. After falling out in spectacular fashion, brothers Raja (Harish Patel) and Jagi (Kulvinder Ghir), who both happen to be chefs, decide to divide up the family recipe book and open rival restaurants across the street from one another. With one brother concentrating on starters and the other on main courses, the rivalry continues unabated for the next 20 years. But when Raja's daughter Shalini (Amara Karan) decides to plan her wedding to fiancé Mark (Tom Mison), she sees it as an ideal opportunity for her father and uncle to finally bury the hatchet by having them both cook on her big day.
Television film drama about Todd McCray (Noel Fisher), a young man with mental health problems. During Christmas vacation, a nearby animal shelter begins an 'Adopt a Dog for Christmas' scheme. As an animal lover, Todd encourages those in his neighbourhood to participate in the programme and he, himself, becomes very attached to one dog. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear why his father is not entirely supportive of Todd's attempt to help the animals.

Epic romantic drama based on Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer-winning novel set during the American Civil War. Southern belle Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) often uses men to get what she wants, but is unable to get the one man she truly desires, Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard). She soon meets her match in the roguish Captain Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) and in the war itself which destroys the genteel way of life she has always known. With determination she rebuilds her life from the shattered remains the Union Army leaves behind. Despite its sometimes troubled production (director George Cukor was replaced by Victor Fleming, with Sam Wood brought in when Fleming's health failed), the film won ten Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress.

Classic musical comedy starring Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. In 1927, Don Lockwood (Kelly, who co-directs) has worked his way up from being a song-and-dance man with partner Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor) to become a top movie star. His on-screen partner, Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen), who believes that Don loves her for real, needs to have her awful voice dubbed with the arrival of talkies. The girl selected is 'serious' actress Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), for whom Don soon falls. Musical numbers include the famous title song and 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'Good Morning' and 'You Were Meant for Me'.
Abel Ferrara's directorial debut starring himself, credited as Jimmy Laine, alongside Carolyn Marz and Harry Schultz. Struggling New York artist Reno Miller (Laine) is very much down on his luck, with his desperate attempts to complete a painting hampered by the punk band rehearsing round the clock next door. Unable to deal with the situation, Reno goes on a murderous rampage, dispatching his victims with an electric drill.
Cult black comedy written and directed by John Waters. Divine portrays Lady Divine, a drag queen who travels around the country with her sideshow 'Cavalcade of Perversions' which showcases all kinds of bizarre fetishes and perverse behaviours. When she tires of her usual routine, she decides to murder all of her paying customers instead of just robbing them. The film follows Divine over the course of a day after she learns of her husband Mr. David (David Lochary)'s affair. She experiences a number of contrasting sexual encounters before finding a lover, named Mink (Mink Stole), who joins Divine on her quest to confront and kill her husband.
Romantic comedy starring David Tennant as an idealistic Brit who follows an aspiring actress to LA in a search for love. Richard (Tennant) is the undertaker of a small town in England but resents the mundane nature of his life and dreams of gaining success as a writer. He meets Barbara (Vinessa Shaw), an American waitress with ambitions of becoming an actress, and the two embark on a brief affair. Though Barbara soon returns to LA, she has awakened Richard's romantic side and he follows her to America without warning. Featuring cameo appearances from Johnny Depp and Jerzy Skolimowski, the LA section of the movie follows Richard as he attempts to win Barbara over and realise his ambitions of becoming a screenwriter in the unforgiving environs of Hollywood. |
