This book is an English translation of Morin's treatise on Primary Directions, which constitutes Book 22 of his Astrologia Gallica, with appendices containing supplementary material relating to Book 22, and addenda containing fundamental astrological principles, in particular the Table of Universal Rulerships of the Planets from Book 13, the Universal Laws of Judgments of Solar and Lunar Returns from Book 23, and Aphorisms stating the Principal Laws of Transits along with Rules for the Prediction of Future Events from Book 24. This translation supplements Richard S. Baldwin's translation of Book 21 on Determinations (also published by the AFA). The two translations together provide a core subset of the theory of Natal Astrology set forth by J-B Morin (1583-1656), the leading figure of French astrology. Morin's theory is based upon the use of determinations and accidental significators. Thus, it differs radically from the common theory that largely ignores derived houses and uses universal significators. Also, it is event-oriented rather than esoteric or psychological. The translator, James Herschel Holden, is Research Director of the American Federation of Astrologers and has been especially interested in the history of astrology.
Astrological Roots: The Hellenistic Legacy is the first systematic presentation of Hellenistic astrology to the modern astrological world, and as such it uncovers rigorous techniques that have been lost to us for centuries. How exactly did ancient astrologers assess a chart for fame, career, and parents, love, and happiness? This book surveys ancient depictions of planets, affiliations between the planets and the zodiac, lots, houses or places, aspects, orientality, and fixed stars. Students and professional astrologers will find this book a treasure of astrological insight, technique, and new interpretative possibilities. Not only will you gain knowledge of how ancient astrologers practiced their trade, but you will also have new tools that apply to modern life.
"As above, so below" is the foundation of all star wisdom. It was known in ancient times that there are correspondences between the macrocosm (heavenly realm) and the microcosm (human being) and the Earth. Astrogeographia is a modern form of that ancient star wisdom. According to the astronomer Johannes Kepler: There radiates into the Earth soul an image of the sense-perceptible zodiac and the whole firmament as a bond of sympathy between Heaven and Earth.... This imprint into the Earth soul through the sense-perceptible zodiac and the entire sphere of fixed stars is also confirmed through observation. And Rudolf Steiner said in his course on astronomy, "We can conceive of the active heavenly sphere mirrored in the Earth." The authors of Astrogeographia set out to determine the correspondences between the starry heavens and the earthly globe-As above, so below. There are many books on the sacredness and the spirituality of our Earth. Few books, however, deal with the relationship between the Earth and the cosmos, which is the central theme for the research presented in this book. Its point of departure is the one-to-one correspondence between the encircling starry heavens-the celestial sphere-and the sphere of the earthly globe. David Bowden has not only worked out the mathematics of this one-to-one correspondence, but has also written a computer program that applies it in practice. Thus, a new science has been born-Astrogeographia-concerning the one-to-one correspondence between the earthly sphere and the celestial sphere. Illustrated in color.
First written in 1953, and now integrated into Astrological work globally, Dr Jones includes in his ground-breaking comprehensive text, for each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac: the symbolical picture, an interpretation in present-day psychological significance, a keyword for use in quick or at sight analysis, the positive and negative influences, the formula to determine the relationship between these symbols, and illustrated with 1000 horoscopes of well-known people. Detailed explanations of their origin, use in the natal, mundane and rectification charts gives the reader an unparalleled opportunity to learn directly from the source that envisioned their profound effect in all types of astrological practice.
This esoteric classic contains meditations on each of the twelve signs of the zodiac. John Jocelyn uses traditional astrological symbolism to envision a Christ-centered zodiac-one in which each of the signs relate to an aspect of the New Testament. This is not a book about astrology, but about the deeper meaning of the twelve Zodiac signs. The author relates the Zodiac signs to the development of inner Christ consciousness and encourages readers to meet their individual destinies more consciously and courageously and even with gratitude.
At last, the definitive guide to assessing the temperament in astrology. Many have shied away from this daunting task, traditionally seen as very complicated, but here the author gives a full history of the origins of temperament, then shows clearly and succinctly how to work it out for yourself. Copious case histories support her technique.
From ancient times, people had knowledge of the zodiac's intimate involvement in the creation of physical life. They understood that the twelve realms of constellations of fixed stars in the sky emanated specific forces that were brought to life and movement by the planets. These spiritual energies created and formed all living beings on earth - including, of course, the human being. This traditional awareness has been reenlivened and given new meaning in our time through Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophy. Steiner gave specific indications involving twelve individual gestures and colours that depict the forces of the twelve zodiacal regions. In this richly-illustrated collation of original artistic research - which features exciting new work on the zodiac via the mediums of sculpture, graphics and painting - these new insights are explored and illumined in twenty-seven essays and numerous full-colour images. Led by editor Gertraud Goodwin, the various contributing artists offer a rich tableau of authentic, individual approaches to understanding the zodiac, throwing light on the vast realm of creative forces around us whilst acknowledging their primary source. 'From the many relationships to other qualities, like the consonants, virtues, areas of the human body, colours, eurythmy gestures, elements (earth, water, air, fire), musical keys and many more, in which the zodiacal forces express themselves as if through different instruments, a harmony begins to emerge, which informs me of an ever rounder picture of one particular force of the Zodiac.' - Gertraud Goodwin

Horary astrology is a fascinating and exacting technique, and here is the perfect book to hone your skills. Author Petros Eleftheriadis presents over fifty valid charts taken from his client files which demonstrate, in clear steps, how to reach an answer. He stresses the importance of starting with the correct question; for instance, he doesn't accept 'Should I?' questions, saying 'Astrology charts cannot possibly show something that will NEVER materialize, something that will never become reality, so they cannot show how your life would be, had you made another decision.' So rather than asking whether you will win the lottery if you buy a ticket, the correct action would be to buy the ticket and then ask if you will win. Ideal for students and professionals with some knowledge of horary astrology.
