When you think of a cane, do you think of an elderly person walking down the street, using the "stick" as a crutch? When author Octavio Ramos Jr. sees a cane, he sees a hard-hitting self-defense weapon with a crook and horn capable of incapacitating any opponent within a matter of seconds. This book teaches the art of one of the most unexpected self-defense tools ever created. Carried anywhere--into almost any situation--the cane rarely attracts undue attention...until you need it to.

Willem de Thouars exemplifies years of study and hard practice in the martial arts. His birth country, Indonesia, was the training ground for a variety of martial-arts styles, both Chinese and Indonesian. When the island nations of Indonesia regained independence from the Dutch as a colony, de Thouars was forced to leave his country of birth and moved to Holland as a Dutch citizen. His martial training flourished while he studied European fencing in Belgium. Later, his martial studies evolved under guidance of the very best masters in the United States after his arrival in May of 1960, where he has lived since. He is a sought-after teacher at martial-arts seminars throughout the world. A Journey Through Time is the telling of de Thouars' life journey in his own words.
Warriors of myth and legend, ninja are a fascinating, mysterious presence in our world. Through generations of disinformation and, more recently, their place in popular culture, the origins, tools, and methodology of the ninja have been shrouded in secrecy to alternately terrify or entertain the populace. The weapons of Ninjutsu are unusual and unorthodox. Though they have been popularized by the public's expanding interest in the Ninja arts, they remain poorly understood. Glamorization of this method of defense has led to a publicly perceived disassociation from its origins as a "peasant art." Ninja Tools and Weapons provides a reframing of the skills of Ninjutsu closer to the discipline's lower-class roots. Dr. Michel Farivar clarifies the origins of the weapons as well as supplies indepth insight into the mindset that developed them. As Ninjutsu moves into the modern age, this clarification remains relevant to those interested in the history of the ninja as well as the anatomy and evolution of conflict.

This is a book that's long overdue: One that provides information that has never before been published, compiled or analyzed in a way that's designed to help fighters. This is a guide to the science of kicking and punching that can settle the debates about which techniques are the most effective and why. It will help a fighter to fight, an instructor to teach and martial artists to advance by working things out for themselves. There is no magic involved in the martial arts. The force and power that is displayed by an expert fighter is the consequence of rigorous training in the accurate application of physical laws. Understanding how to use these laws of physics to create massive impact forces will provide a personal insight into the practice of correct technique and form. This unique piece of work will act as a technical reference that provides the facts and figures that fighters seek, including records of the maximum force and speed achieved by some of the best present day warriors, helping to answer many of the most difficult questions in the martial arts.
Fusegi Jutsu literally means "self defense techniques" and this name was used by Professor Henry S. Okazaki for his abbreviated course in Danzan-Ryu Jujutsu. Specifically, this course was taken by people who were not able to go through the multi-year Jujutsu program but still wanted some knowledge of self protection. As a special bonus, this book also contains two never-before-published speeches given by Professor Okazaki.
No one in history has ever amassed such a comprehensive encyclopedia on this collective body of hand, stick, knife and gun CQC combatives, all a forged hybrid from military, police, martial arts and medical, historical and psychological disciplines.
This Modern Martial Arts - Warrior Training book is simply a condensation of 45 years of open-minded mixed martial arts study. It's not a recent study of the very popular 'watered down' UFC style mixed martial arts. It's real, thorough, martial arts studied for decades; there's a difference. After all, where did those MMA techniques come from? Not the UFC, even if I am a fan and enjoy their fights. Since your brain is in control of the physical techniques your body performs, I offer food for your brain. My formal training began in wrestling in 1965, boxing in 1968, tae kwon do in 1969, Japanese jujitsu and judo in 1971 and 1973. I competed for 23 years in wrestling, boxing, black belt judo and as a former rated black belt karate fighter while competing in USPSA handgun tournaments, and distance running races. My experience as a Hapkido assistant under Grand Master Ji, Han Jae, and student of Ed Parker style kenpo karate, as well as kick boxing, kung fu, and other martial arts styles gives me an experienced perspective that very few others can claim. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for EXPERIENCE. This book is a collection of training methods, wisdom, philosophies, creeds, rules, and inspirational personal backgrounds, of many of the Worlds Best Fighters and Warrior types. I didn't create this information, or invent a new 'style, ' I just took the time and energy to seek out the knowledge, and now share it with you. From Apaches to wrestling, it contains a wealth of invaluable life saving, or competition winning strategies, techniques and ideas. Learn from those who have fought and defeated, survived and conquered others on the street, in the ring, Octagon, or on the battlefield. Regardless of your martial arts background or experience, there's something for anyone to learn from these Warriors. This book is meant to supplement and to fill the gaps in the series of DVD's being produced by James Dolmage. Some knowledge of physical techniques is most effectively conveyed with video, and some wisdom for your brain is more effectively conveyed in written form. You will be inspired, mentally stimulated, and educated. If you have a martial inclination, you will learn something useful from this open mined Modern MARTIAL ARTS WARRIOR TRAINING book. James Dolmage

There are various Ways. There is the Way of salvation by the law of Buddha, the Way of Confucius governing the Way of learning, the Way of healing as a doctor, as a poet teaching the Way of Waka, tea, archery, and many arts and skills. Each man practises as he feels inclined. It is said the warrior's is the twofold Way of pen and sword, and he should have a taste for both Ways. Even if a man has no natural ability he can be a warrior by sticking assiduously to both divisions of the Way. Generally speaking, the Way of the warrior is resolute acceptance of death.
