A lively picture book adaptation of the well-known children's
hand-clapping rhyme, perfect for the whole family. Everyone knows
some version of this popular children's hand-clapping rhyme, but in
this adaptation, the elephant's fateful jump over the fence is just
the beginning of the fun. Popular children's author Mary Ann
Hoberman has elaborated on this well known tale to create an
absurdly funny story children will want to sing, chant, read, and
clap to again and again.

Scottish artist Tom Paterson is one of the most inventive and
influential cartoonists British comics have produced. Inspired by
the work of George Martin, Leo Baxendale and Ken Reid, Tom became a
comic artist at a young age, working for Fleetway and DC Thomsons
on such classic strips as Sweeny Toddler, Calamity James, Buster,
Grimly Feendish, The Numskulls, Bananaman and Dennis the Menace. At
the beginning of his career Tom was ghosting artists like
Baxendale, but his own style and sense of humour quickly developed
and Tom's work soon became unmistakable. His trademark stinky,
striped sock often appeared in the panels of his work - a useful
identifier born out of an age where publishers frowned upon artists
signing their work. Along with the sock came the additional, visual
comedic gags scattered throughout the strips, giving each one that
instant re-readability. This collection features some of Tom's
outstanding colour and black & white strip work for
IPC/Fleetway from titles like Buster, Whoopee!, Jackpot, Whizzer
& Chips and Oink! amongst others. With quotes from the man
himself and some extra, added treasures, this is a must have for
fans of British humour comics both young and old!
'A laugh-out-loud funny and exciting adventure!' Cressida Cowell
From the incredible imagination of Chris Smith - bestselling author
and now a major new solo talent - comes an extraordinary accidental
adventure for fans of Cressida Cowell and Pixar's Onward. Frankie
Best is not happy. She's stuck at Grandad's with her annoyingly
nerdy brother Joel for a whole week while her parents swan off to
the Arctic. Things take a turn for the worse when Grandad gets
kidnapped by gnoblins (no, that is not spelt incorrectly) forcing
Frankie to embark on a rescue mission across a magical realm filled
with strange creatures, dangerous enemies and - worst of all -
absolutely no WiFi. Frankie did have big plans to watch YouTube and
eat pot noodles that weekend but it looks like she'll just have to
go on an epic mega-dangerous quest instead . . .

"These aren't poems to read aloud, but to look at and laugh at
together, with young children and especially older readers, who
will enjoy the surprise of what words look like and what can be
done with them." --BOOKLIST (starred review)
Concrete poems startle and delight the eye and mind. The size and
arrangement of words and letters can add or alter meaning --
forming a poem that takes the shape of crows that fly off the page
or becoming a balloon filled with rhyme, drifting away from
outstretched hands. Here, in a single extraordinary volume, are
thirty poems from some of the world's finest visual poets,
including John Hollander, Emmett Williams, Maureen W. Armour, and
Douglas Florian. New to the paperback edition, tucked inside the
front cover, are tips, guidelines, and inspiration for writing your
own concrete poems.
