has been endorsed by Edexcel. This textbook offers a brand new
approach to the study of Islam which has been developed in close
consultation with teachers and religious organisations. Structured
according to the new specification with clear, regular summaries,
this book provides students with exactly what they need to know for
the course. Practice questions are provided for every topic, as
well as sample answer activities and revision checklists. 'Stretch'
and 'support' features provide useful differentiation, and case
studies show real-life stories or perspectives from Islam as it is
practised today.
Adama Bah grew up in East Harlem after immigrating from Conakry,
Guinea, and was deeply connected to her community and the people
who lived there. But as a thirteen-year-old after the events of
September 11, 2001, she began experiencing discrimination and
dehumanization as prejudice toward Muslim people grew. Then, on
March 24, 2005, FBI agents arrested Adama and her father. Falsely
accused of being a potential suicide bomber, Adama spent weeks in a
detention center being questioned under suspicion of terrorism.
With sharp and engaging writing, Adama recounts the events
surrounding her arrest and its impact on her life-the harassment,
humiliation, and persecution she faced for crimes she didn't
commit. Accused brings forward a crucial and unparalleled
first-person perspective of American culture post-9/11 and the
country's discrimination against Muslim Americans, and heralds the
start of a new series of compelling narrative nonfiction by young
people, for young people.
Edexcel's course for the new GCSE Religious Studies specification
Focusing on Islam, this is one of a series which has been revised
in line with developments in Religious Education and examines key
themes of the world's major religions - worship, history, festivals
and rites of passage.
The World of Islam in Literature for Youth will aid librarians,
parents, students, teachers, school media specialists, and other
readers who are interested in identifying helpful resources on the
topic of Islam and the Muslim culture. Divided into 16 chapters
that reflect the different aspects of Islam and the Muslim culture,
this annotated bibliography covers more than 700 books,
instructional materials, videos, DVDs, audio tapes, and online
resources, each with a complete bibliographical description-title,
author's name, place of publication, publisher, year, number of
pages, and ISBN (both for hard copy and paper, if available)-and
recommended grade levels. Digital electronic resources, in addition
to the above bibliographic description, also include length of
running time, producer, and whether in black & white or color.
The authors wrote this book with the goal of making available
reliable information about this often-misunderstood religious
tradition. Many of the resources emphasized are not typically
featured in existing bibliographies, databases, and libraries.
Author, title, grade, subject, and illustrator & photographer
indexes are included. This valuable reference tool provides
educators with a means to easily identify resources for use in
promoting the understanding of Islam.

It's time to celebrate Ramadan. For one month, Muslims don't eat or
drink for most of the day. They pray and help the poor. Muslims
focus on being thankful during this important Islamic holiday.
Each drawing in the Learn & Color Series is associated with an
introductory text that describes the object in rhyming words.
"Darling Animals" includes drawings of animals like birds, cats,
horses, giraffes, etc., "Delicious Fruits" invites children to
colour various fruits while describing their tasty features.
"Nutritious Vegetables" has a dual purpose of making vegetables
enjoyable both for colouring and eating. "My Wonderful Body" talks
about body parts along with their functions and purposes. All
descriptions in the books seek to show how God made everything
useful, functional and beautiful.
