Dvorak's choral masterpiece was first performed at the Birmingham
Festival on October 9, 1891 under the composer's direction. It
immediately entered the standard repertoire. This new vocal score
is a digitally-enhanced reissue of the one edited by Karel Solc as
part of Dvorak's complete works, published by the Czech State
publishing concern, SNKLHU, in the late 1950s. Now in a very
readable A4 size, this score will be a welcome addition for
vocalists, choruses and pianists alike.
Our folio features all the songs from this quintessential Beatles
album: Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite * A Day in the Life *
Fixing a Hole * Getting Better * Good Morning Good Morning * Lovely
Rita * Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds * Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts
Club Band * She's Leaving Home * When I'm Sixty-Four * With a

Introducing the Positions, a series widely used in classroom and
private studio, represents a critical "next step" for string
students. Position playing allows players to extend range beyond
the basics and move into the ranks of intermediate and advanced
ensemble groups. The most important positions vary for each
instrument, and Whistler wisely introduces the most-used positions
first in Volume 1, followed by the next most important in Volume 2.
An irreplaceable component for every string student's training!
This book, the first of its kind to be published in English,
introduces the reader to the rich heritage of Spanish song. Here in
one volume are the texts of over 300 songs with parallel
translations in accurate and readable English. The majority are
love poems, which form a fascinating anthology of Spanish poetry
from the thirteenth to the twentieth century. The introduction by
Graham Johnson, who in recent years has done more than anyone to
kindle interest in the international song repertoire, traces the
history of Spanish song from its beginnings, via the period of the
Catholic kings in the fifteenth century, the Golden Age of the
sixteenth, through to the remarkable rebirth in the twentieth
century. All the songs and cycles frequently heard in recital are
gathered here: Albeniz, Falla, Granados, Rodrigo and Obradors are
generously represented, as well as Catalan composers such as
Montsalvatge and Mompou. The volume is arranged chronologically by
composer, and includes notes on all the major poets and composers,
a discography, and names and addresses of the music publishers. The
Spanish Song Companion is a much-needed volume and will be welcomed
by singers, students of Spanish literature, concert-goers and
record-collectors throughout the English-speaking world.

This exceptional cantata was probably first heard at the
Thomaskirche in Leipzig on June 16, 1726, though scholars cannot
rule out it being composed for a festival later that year or early
in 1727. The new digitally-enhanced vocal score presented here is
reproduced from the series first issued to coincide with the
monumental Bach Gesellschaft Ausgabe by Breitkopf und Hartel of
Leipzig just over a century ago with keyboard reductions by
Bernhard Todt.
for CCBar and piano This is an imaginative and modern-sounding
setting of John Masefield's popular poem (2017 marks the 50th
anniversary of Masefield's death). This expressive piece ebbs and
flows, and provides imitative textures and well-crafted narrative.

for women's chorus and piano. This cantata features sixteen
highly-varied folk song settings, bound together in seasonal
groupings to take the listener on an engaging journey through the
year from Spring to Winter. The prologue implores us to 'sing and
be merry', and many of the songs facilitate this with their
charmingly light-hearted melodies and imaginative orchestral
accompaniment. There are also darker moments, such as the haunting
and heart-rending setting of 'The Unquiet Grave' in 'Autumn'. For
this comprehensive new edition, the editor Graham Parlett has drawn
on all available sources, providing an authoritative full score
with critical commentary. This edition also makes available new
materials for the version for string orchestra and piano, and a new
vocal score.
The Justinguitar Pop Songbook is the latest addition to Justin
Sandercoes series of guitar songbooks, following on from his hugely
successful Justinguitar Beginners Songbook and Justinguitar
Beginners Guitar Course. The Justinguitar Pop Songbook is for
beginner-intermediate guitar players who are looking to improve
their playing and increase their pop repertoire. Songs are arranged
by difficulty, with introductory notes, scales and chord shapes
provided for each difficulty level. Much more than just a songbook,
this book contains valuable tips and tutorials that will help you
with every aspect of your playing.
An insteresting case of self-borrowing. Bach took music from this
work for his own Mass in B-minor (BWV 191/1 corresponds to the
Gloria in excelsis Deo, BWV 191/2 to the Domine Deus, BWV 191/3 to
the Cum sancto spiritu). This unusual cantata, the only one with a
Latin text, may have been written to celebrate the Peace of Dresden
(which ended the 2nd Silesian war) and first performed on Christmas
day, 1745. This newly engraved, carefully edited vocal score is
based on the Bach Gessellschaft edition. The convenient A4 size is
ideal for vocalists, choruses, and rehearsal pianists.

New digitally-enhanced reprint of the classic vocal score issued by
Breitkopf & Hartel in the early 20th century edited by the
eminent musicologist Eusebius Mandyczewski.
Alfred's Basic Prep Course, Levels A through F, was written to
answer a demand for a course of piano study designed specifically
for students who are five years old and up. This course offers a
careful introduction of fundamentals, music that fits comfortably
under the young student's normal hand span, plus constant
reinforcement, all leading to results beyond those generated by
other piano methods. After Lesson Book B, the student may progress
to Prep Course, Lesson Book C or choose to go directly into the
faster paced Level 1B of Alfred's Basic Piano Library. The complete
Prep Course consists of six books (Levels A through F).
Heather Laing examines, for the first time, the issues of gender
and emotion that underpin the classical style of film scoring, but
that have until now remained unquestioned and untheorized, thus
providing a benchmark for thinking on more recent and alternative
styles of scoring. Many theorists have discussed this type of music
in film as a signifier of emotion and 'the feminine', a capacity in
which it is frequently associated with female characters. The full
effect of such an association on either female or male
characterization, however, has not been examined. This book
considers the effects of this association by progress through three
stages: cultural-historical precedents, the generic parameters of
melodrama and the woman's film, and the narrativization of music in
film through diegetic performance and the presence of musicians as
characters. Case studies of specific films provide textual and
musical analyses, and the genres of melodrama and the woman's film
have been chosen as representative not only of the epitome of the
Hollywood scoring style, but also of the narrative association of
women, emotion and music. Laing leads to the conclusion that music
functions as more than merely a signifier of emotion. Rather, it
takes a crucial role in both indicating and determining how emotion
is actually understood as part of the construction of gender and
its representation in film.
