‘If you made me angry, to me, for that anger to go away I have to get
hold of you . . . For that anger to go away, I have to do something to
you.’
These are the words of one of South Africa’s most terrifying serial
killers as told to Brin Hodgskiss in the bowels of one of our most
secure prisons.
Hodgskiss got his doctorate in psychology for a study based on
interviews with thirteen serial killers. The recordings sat gathering
dust until recently, when top true-crime podcaster Nicole Engelbrecht
found his paper online. The two connected and the concept for this book
was born.
In Killer Stories, Hodgskiss uses each of the interviews, combined with
the tenets of narrative psychology, to take the reader into the minds
of the killers. He lays out how the stories these men told themselves
about their lives contributed to where they ended up –
and how they aren’t that different from the stories we all tell
ourselves.
The book intertwines the killers’ versions of the truth and the
truecrime stories behind them, an interpretation of the tales using
narrative psychology, and how Hodgskiss’s own journey as a psychologist
and human being contributed to his deeper understanding of the minds of
these killers.

Dirty cops, trafficking rings, globe-spanning, nail-biting undercover detective work and the biggest takedown of the online narcotics market in the history of the internet. This is the story of how a single innovation has fuelled the world's criminal financial markets, and unleashed a cat-and mouse game like no other.
Over the last decade, crime lords inhabiting lawless corners of the internet have operated more freely - whether in drug dealing, money laundering, or human trafficking - than their old school counterparts could have ever dreamed of. By transacting in currencies with anonymous ledgers, overseen by no government and beholden no bankers, they have robbed law enforcement of the primary method of cracking down on illicit finance: following the money.
But what if this dark economy held a secret, fatal flaw? What if their currency wasn't so cryptic after all? Could an investigator using the right mixture of technical wizardry, financial forensics, and old-fashioned persistence uncover an entire criminal underworld?
Lords of Crypto Crime is the gripping, insider story of how a brilliant group of investigators took down the biggest kingpins of the dark web.
The conclusion to the South African born, debut author's stunning series, with touches of Suzanne Collins which fans of V.E. Schwab or Leigh Bardugo will love.

But Cassia and Lochlan are still trapped in Vineas and Lucas has no way of getting to them. Armed with something as easily changed as a vision of the future, Lucas has to place his faith in the people around him and call out the uncontrollable First magic lurking inside him.
He will be the one to kill the king. He will end this. Now.
In this dazzling thriller, New York Times bestselling author Joseph Kanon gives us his richest setting yet: pre-World War II Shanghai, where glamour and squalor exist side by side and murder is just a cost of doing business. A love affair against all odds, a city dancing on the rim of a volcano—Shanghai is the story of a political haven that becomes a minefield of conflicting loyalties.
After the violence of Kristallnacht (1938), European Jews, now desperate to emigrate, found the consular doors of the world closed to them. Only one port required no entry visa: Shanghai, a self-governing Western trading enclave in what was technically Chinese territory, a political anomaly that became an escape hatch—if you were lucky enough to afford a ticket on one of the great Lloyd liners sailing to the East and safety.
Daniel Lohr was one of the lucky ones—lucky enough to have escaped the Gestapo when his colleagues in the resistance were caught, lucky to have an uncle waiting in Shanghai, lucky to find a casual shipboard flirtation turn unexpectedly passionate. But even lucky refugees have to confront the reality of Shanghai. With all their assets, and passports confiscated by the Nazis, they arrive penniless and stateless in a tumultuous, nearly lawless city notorious for vice. When you can sink fast, how far are you willing to go to survive? What lines do you cross? As Daniel tries to navigate his way through his uncle’s world in Shanghai’s fabled nightlife, he finds himself increasingly ensnared in a maze where politics and crime are two sides of the same shiny coin. The trick, his uncle tells him, is to stay one step ahead.
But how do you stay ahead of murder? How do you outrun your own past?
Two years ago, Martha didn't know that Alan existed. Now, they're married - it was easy to say yes to someone so sweet.
But when Martha thinks she sees Alan's mask slip, she starts to fear that the conferences he travels the country to attend might be a cover for something far more sinister.
As her research unearths a string of dead women, she enlists the help of Lily Kintner, an old friend from grad school. What Martha doesn't know is that Lily has a dark side of her own . . .
The new must-read steamy sports romance from Ana Huang, the bestselling
author of the Twisted and Kings of Sin series.
She's the only woman he wants . . . and the only one he can't have.
Asher Donovan is a living legend - the darling of the Premier League,
the (arguably) greatest footballer in the world.
But his reckless antics and recent team transfer have caused much
controversy, and when his feud with his rival-turned-teammate costs
them a championship, they're forced to 'bond' during off-season
cross-training.
Surviving the summer shouldn't be hard . . . until Asher meets their
new trainer. She's beautiful, talented, and no matter how hard he
tries, he can't take his mind off her.
The only problem? She's his rival's sister - and completely off limits.
Scarlett DuBois is a former prima ballerina whose career was cut short
by a tragic accident.
Now a teacher at a prestigious dance academy but still haunted by the
ghosts of her past, the last thing she wants is to spend the summer
cross-training Asher Donovan, of all people.
She swore she would never date a footballer, but when her brother
leaves town for an emergency, she finds herself thrown into dangerously
close proximity with the gorgeous, charming striker.
Training, she can deal with. But falling in love? That's out of the
question - especially when he's the only person with the power to break
her heart.
The unputdownable new novel from international bestseller Jeffrey Archer.
In one of the most luxurious cities on earth, a billion-dollar deal is about to go badly wrong. A lavish night out is about to end in murder. And the British government is about to be plunged into crisis.
Thousands of miles away, in the leafy Berkshire countryside, Lord Hartley, the latest in a line of peers going back over two hundred years, lies dying. But his will triggers an inheritance with explosive consequences.
Two deaths. Continents apart. Completely unrelated.
So why are they at the centre of a master criminal's plot for revenge? And can Scotland Yard’s Chief Superintendent William Warwick uncover the truth before an innocent man's life and legacy are destroyed?
duister rond. Het hulle dié keer hulle meerdere teëgekom?

Shrines of Gaiety and Life after Life.
Welcome to Rook Hall.
The stage is set. The players are ready. By night’s end, a murderer
will be revealed.
Ex-detective Jackson Brodie is staving off a bad case of midlife
malaise when he is called to a sleepy Yorkshire town, and the seemingly
tedious matter of a stolen painting. But one theft leads to another,
including the disappearance of a valuable Turner from Burton Makepeace,
home to Lady Milton and her family. Once a magnificent country house,
Burton Makepeace has now partially been converted into a hotel, hosting
Murder Mystery weekends.
As paying guests, a vicar, an ex-army officer, impecunious aristocrats,
and old friends converge, we are treated a fiendishly clever mystery;
one that pays homage to the masters of the genre—from Agatha Christie
to Dorothy Sayers.
Brilliantly inventive, with all of Atkinson’s signature wit, wordplay
and narrative brio, Death at the Sign of the Rook may be Jackson
Brodie’s most outrageous and memorable case yet.
A magical house. A secret past. A summons that could change everything.
This is the hugely-anticipated sequel to TJ Klune's The House in the
Cerulean Sea, a cosy-fantasy triumph and a New York Times bestseller.
Arthur Parnassus has built a good life on the ashes of a bad one. He’s
headmaster at an orphanage for magical children, on a peculiar island,
assisted by love-of-his-life Linus Baker. And together, they’ll do
anything to protect their extraordinary and powerful charges.
However, when Arthur is forced to make a public statement about his
dark past, he finds himself fighting for those under his care. It’s
also a fight for the better future that all magical people deserve.
Then when a new magical child joins their island home, Arthur knows
they’ve reached breaking point. The child finds power in calling
himself a monster, a name Arthur has tried so hard to banish to protect
his children. Challenged from within and without, their volatile family
might grow stronger. Or everything Arthur loves could fall apart.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a story of resistance, lovingly told, about
the daunting experience of fighting for the life you want to live and
doing the work to keep it.

Hollows Bend is a picture-perfect New England town. The crime rate – zero – is a point of pride for Sheriff Ellie Pritchett. The day the stranger shows up is when the trouble starts. The sheriff and her deputy investigate the mysterious teenage girl. None of the locals can place her. She can’t – or won’t – answer any questions. She won’t even tell them her name.

The story of how information networks have made, and unmade, our world
from the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of Sapiens.
For the last 100,000 years, humans have accumulated enormous power. But
despite all our discoveries, inventions and conquests, we now find
ourselves in an existential crisis. The world is on the verge of
ecological collapse. Misinformation abounds. And we are rushing
headlong into the age of AI – a new information network that threatens
to annihilate us. If we are so wise, why are we so self-destructive?
NEXUS considers how the flow of information has shaped us, and our
world. Taking us from the Stone Age through the Bible, early modern
witch-hunts, Stalinism, Nazism and the resurgence of populism today,
Yuval Noah Harari asks us to consider the complex relationship between
information and truth, bureaucracy and mythology, wisdom and power. He
explores how different societies and political systems have wielded
information to achieve their goals, for good and ill. And he addresses
the urgent choices we face as non-human intelligence threatens our very
existence.
Information is not the raw material of truth; neither is it a mere
weapon. NEXUS explores the hopeful middle ground between these
extremes, and of rediscovering our shared humanity.
Six roses. Six vials of blood. Six
visits to a vampire who could be her salvation… or her damnation.
Lilith has been dying since the day she was born. But while she long
ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone
she loves is an entirely different matter. As her town slowly withers
in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters
into her own hands.
Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing
the gods hate even more than her village: a vampire, Vale. She offers
him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood—the one hope
for her town’s salvation.
But when what begins as a simple transaction gradually becomes
something more, Lilith is faced with a terrifying realization: It’s
dangerous to wander into the clutches of a vampire… and in a place
already suffering a god’s wrath, more dangerous still to fall in love
with one.
Six Scorched Roses is a standalone
fantasy romance short novel set in the world of the Crowns of
Nyaxia series, perfect for those who love dark, romantic tales with

What do you want when no one is watching?
Who do you fantasise about when the lights are off?
When you think about sex, what do you really want?
When we talk about sex, we talk about womanhood and motherhood,
infidelity and exploitation, consent and respect, fairness and
egalitarianism, love and hate, pleasure and pain. And yet so many of us
don't talk about it at all.
In this groundbreaking book, Gillian Anderson collects and introduces
the anonymous sexual fantasies of women from around the world (along
with her own anonymous submission). They are all extraordinary: full of
desire, fear, intimacy, shame, satisfaction and, ultimately,
liberation. From dreaming about someone off-limits to conjuring a scene
with multiple partners, from sex that is gentle and tender to
passionate and playful, from women who have never had sex to women who
have had more sex than they can remember, these fantasies provide a
window into the most secret part of our minds.
Want reveals how women feel about sex when they have the freedom to be
totally themselves.
