Clinical Anatomy of the Knee - An Atlas (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021): Murat Bozkurt, Halil Ibrahim Acar Clinical Anatomy of the Knee - An Atlas (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021)
Murat Bozkurt, Halil Ibrahim Acar
R3,169 Discovery Miles 31 690 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book provides detailed information on functional anatomy, physical examination, and clinical radiology of the knee with a view to enabling the clinician to identify the most suitable treatment approach to different knee joint pathologies. In addition, the arthroscopic treatment techniques most frequently employed in patients with these conditions are described, with presentation of numerous arthroscopic images detailing characteristic findings. Knee joint pathologies today represent a significant challenge owing to the complexity of the injuries suffered, rising activity levels, and high patient expectations. A proper physical examination plays an important role in diagnosis. The surgeon who has the opportunity to conduct a clinical evaluation must fully understand the role of radiological evaluations, and assessment by a radiology expert is also necessary. In all cases, knowledge of the normal anatomy and its correlation with clinical and radiological findings is fundamental to correct diagnosis and treatment selection. Surgeons and trainees with an interest in knee joint pathologies will find this book to be an excellent, richly illustrated educational guide to the subject.

R4,537 Discovery Miles 45 370 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Now in a fully revised and updated second edition, this definitive text provides comprehensive coverage of all aspects of total ankle replacement (TAR), written by authors who are recognized experts in the field. Though the main focus is on total ankle replacement prostheses available for use in North America, the lessons learned and presented here are applicable to the growing volume of cases worldwide. Divided into five thematic sections, each chapter is a purposeful mix of theory, data, and tips/pearls with detailed illustrations, tables, and references. Appropriately evidence-based, they include bullet points for quick reference and rely heavily on step-by-step intraoperative photographs and radiology. Part I presents the history of TAR, implant considerations (mobile-bearing vs. fixed-bearing), and indications/contraindications for the procedure. The subsequent three sections discuss all aspects of primary TAR, procedures secondary to primary TAR, and revision TAR, respectively, bringing together the most recent evidence, implant options and surgical techniques. The final section covers topics related to limb salvage after failed TAR, including preventive measures, wound healing, and infection management. Generously illustrated and well-referenced, Primary and Revision Total Ankle Replacement remains the gold standard text on this topic for orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists and foot and ankle clinicians at all levels.

Current Orthopaedic Practice (Paperback, 2nd ed. 2022): Sanjeev Agarwal Current Orthopaedic Practice (Paperback, 2nd ed. 2022)
Sanjeev Agarwal
R3,276 Discovery Miles 32 760 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The book is intended as the second edition of previously published 'Current Orthopaedic Practice'. The book is a unique publication from the UK, which covers the entire clinical orthopaedic spectrum. The FRCS exam is an end-of-training examination for Orthopaedic trainees in the UK. There is a paucity of textbooks published in the UK which cover the spectrum of knowledge required. The updated edition builds on the success of the first edition. This book is divided into 18 chapters, which cover the entire remit of clinical orthopaedics. The chapter on sports injuries has been split into two chapters - disorders of the hip and disorders of the knee. A unique feature which has been retained is the incorporation of annotated bibliography within the text. The list of references has been provided as 'further reading suggestions' at the end of the chapter. The annotated text within the chapter helps the reader to understand the study design and key message from the article. The articles selected for inclusion in the text are seminal articles, or recent articles which have led to change in practice. The line drawings are simple and easy to reproduce. Classifications are presented pictorially as much as possible, instead of tables, and this helps memorisation. This book is an essential resource for all orthopaedic graduates, trainees and professionals alike.

Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty - A Practical Guide (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021): Hosam E. Matar, Benjamin V. Bloch, Hugh U.... Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty - A Practical Guide (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021)
Hosam E. Matar, Benjamin V. Bloch, Hugh U. Cameron, Peter J. James
R2,400 Discovery Miles 24 000 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book is a practically applicable guide to the use of revision total knee arthroplasty. Demand for primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) continues to rise, with some estimates predicting this to be as high as 400% than it currently is, and this will inevitably lead to increased demand for revision surgery. Furthermore, this is a sub-specialist area of arthroplasty that is complex and challenging with high failure rates, meaning that there is a real need to improve the outcomes of these procedures. Within this book, the chapters focus on a particular subject area focusing on how to successfully perform a procedure in a step-by-step manner in a variety of scenarios from condylar revisions to salvage cases. Topics covered include how to use surgical techniques in instances of periprosthetic distal femur fractures and manage infections where bone loss has been significant. Long-term outcome data is also presented to enable the reader to develop a deep understanding of where a particular strategy might be most effective. Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Practical Guide concisely details how to use the techniques covered in all aspects of revision knee surgery, making it an indispensable resource for all those involved in the care of these patients or who use these techniques in their day-to-day clinical practice.

Alexander Y. Shin, Nicholas Pulos
R3,523 Discovery Miles 35 230 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Fully illustrated and enhanced with accompanying video clips, this comprehensive text presents the clinical evaluation and management of brachial plexus injuries and reconstruction, both for adult patients and birth injuries. Divided into two main sections, part one covers adult brachial plexus injuries, discussing the relevant anatomy and biology, epidemiology, and associated injuries. The main focus, however, is on diagnosis - the clinical exam as well as neurodiagnostic and radiographic evaluation - and surgical management approaches and techniques, including nerve grafting and transfers, tendon and muscle transfers, and joint fusion. Related topics are presented in chapters on sensory reinnervation, neuropathic pain management, the role of amputation and prosthetics, and pre- and post-surgical therapy protocols. Brachial plexus birth injury is described in part two, also focusing mainly on diagnosis and management but with an emphasis on the fact that babies are not small adults and special considerations are warranted. This section concludes with chapters on the management of late complications and long-term sequelae. A comprehensive surgical text on brachial plexus injuries has not been previously attempted. Filling a large gap in the literature, Operative Brachial Plexus Surgery is the go-to resource for adult and birth related brachial plexus reconstruction for orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastics surgeons, and their trainees.

Eyal Itshayek
R8,023 Discovery Miles 80 230 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

The earliest human known to have the capability of walking erect on two legs is Sahelanphropus, who lived 6 million years ago. The ability to stand erect led to required extensive changes in the human skeleton, including significant changes in the cervical spine. In modern humans, the cervical spine holds the head upright and gives it great mobility. The combination of great mobility in this spinal segment combined with the requirement that it carry significant weight makes the cervical spine susceptible to a wide variety of pathologies. The cervical spine not only supports the head upright, but acts as a channel for the full set of neural elements connecting the brain with all near and distant parts of the body; thus, pathologies involving the spinal column in this segment directly affect the cervical spinal cord and exiting nerve roots. Today, excellence in spine surgery requires a thorough understanding of spinal anatomy, relevant neurology, and biomechanics, as well as skilled use of a variety of surgical techniques. The surgeon must master the ability to effectively select from a wide and constantly changing variety of alternative instrumentations and surgical approaches. In addition, the trend towards reducing the invasiveness of surgical procedures has led to the use of smaller and smaller tools and smaller surgical incisions with more limited views of the relevant anatomy. As a result of the rapid pace of change, the choice of an optimal technique in any given situation is increasingly complex. In this book, we begin with a basic review of anatomy, neurology, neurophysiology, and biomechanics. We also discuss clinical and radiological assessment required for a differential diagnosis, and present a thorough discussion of the importance of sagittal alignment of the spine and the utility of gait analysis. We proceed with a thorough discussion of nontraumatic pathologies causing cervical myelopathy, beginning with the craniocervical junction down through the subaxial spine, in pediatric and adult populations. This discussion includes steps in the differential diagnosis for specific pathologies, surgical techniques and nuances, radiation-based treatment alternatives, and special topics ranging from the use of stem cells to robotics and endoscopic surgery. We have attempted to provide both fundamental and state-of-the-art knowledge and to share the rich experience of some of the leading spine surgeons worldwide, with the aim of enabling surgeons at all levels to advance their own capabilities for performing safe and successful procedures in this area of complex anatomy.

The Management of Biceps Pathology - A Clinical Guide from the Shoulder to the Elbow (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021): Anthony A... The Management of Biceps Pathology - A Clinical Guide from the Shoulder to the Elbow (Paperback, 1st ed. 2021)
Anthony A Romeo, Brandon J. Erickson, Justin W. Griffin
R2,916 Discovery Miles 29 160 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The biceps tendon is one of the most challenging anatomic structures to completely understand.
