Examines Pentecostal conversion as a force of change, revealing new
insights into its dominant role in global Christianity today. There
has been an extraordinary growth in Pentecostalism in Africa, with
Brazilian Pentecostals establishing new transnational Christian
connections, initiating widespread changes not only in religious
practice but in society. This book describes its rise in Maputo,
capital of Mozambique, and the sometimes dramatic impact of
Pentecostalism on women. Here large numbers of urban women are
taking advantage of the opportunities Pentecostalism offers to
overcome restrictions at home, pioneer new life spaces and change
their lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Yet, conversion
can also mean a violent rupturing with tradition, with family and
with social networks. As the pastors encourage women to cut their
ties with the past, including ancestral spirits, they come to see
their kin and husbands as imbued with evil powers, and many leave
their families. Conquering spheres that used to be forbidden to
them, they often live alone as unmarried women, sometimes earning
more than men of a similar age. They are also expected to donate
huge sums to the churches, often money that they can ill afford,
bringing new hardships. Linda van de Kamp is Assistant Professor in
the Department of Sociology, University of Amsterdam, The
Netherlands.
Your money has a voice in the heavenly realm. What is it speaking?
For years, there has been talk of a “Great Transfer of Wealth” coming
to God’s people. In the midst of controversy and concern over the
excesses of carnal prosperity teaching, the fact remains that believers
need financial resources in order to fund the advancement of the
Kingdom. For Christians to impact culture, they must understand the
power of translating financial wealth into Kingdom influence. The
problem? This level of wealth and influence continues to evade us, both
personally and corporately. Why?
It’s time to renounce and revoke the enemy’s legal rights in our
finances, and release supernatural abundance from the Court of Heaven.
Robert Henderson travels the globe, teaching the concepts from his
bestselling Courts of Heaven series. When applied, these Kingdom truths
help believers demolish barriers to breakthrough and step into divine
destiny in every arena of life. In this timely new work, Henderson
shows you how to enter this spiritual dimension and engage God as a
Righteous Judge on behalf of your finances.
You will discover how to:
- Remove legal rights the enemy is using to restrain
financial increase in your life.
- Understand the economic system of Heaven: is God a
socialist or capitalist?
- Revoke the spirit of poverty that wars against prosperity
and blessing.
- Release the prophetic voice of your finances before the
Court of Heaven.
- Operate in the Biblical principles of Firstfruits.
- Issue restraining orders against the devil and his agenda
for your finances.
- Break free from “Disrupted timing” and realign with God’s
order of abundance.
If you are experiencing financial hardship or sense an invisible
“ceiling” that limits your current level of financial blessing,
discover how to enter the Courts of Heaven and unlock the abundance
that’s reserved for God’s people!
Satan prowls around, ready to pounce on our every weakness, fill us
with fear, and destroy our intimate relationship with Christ. But we
are not defenseless. We have weapons of warfare enabling us to be
spiritually aggressive and face the devil head on. Rather than lose
ground in our faith, we can live armed and dangerous!
In this handbook of militant prayers, evangelist and ex-satanist John
Ramirez helps you prepare for and move into advanced combat. He covers
topics such as
- strengthening your position as a warrior
- opening your spiritual eyes
- releasing the thunder of God against the devil
- loosing God's blessings
- and more!
We have the authority and the mandate to destroy the works of the
devil. Let's do it!
Drawing from six decades of Scripture-based teaching and study in
the original Greek and Hebrew, the late Derek Prince clearly
explains the foundation for Christian faith, salvation, baptism,
the Holy Spirit, laying on of hands, the believer's resurrection,
and eternal judgment. This revised book, which has been translated
and distributed worldwide in more than sixty languages, offers
Christians evrything they need to develop a strong, balanced,
spirit-filled life, including a comprehensive index of topics and a
compelte index of Scripture verses.
In this outline Kenneth E. Hagin says, He leads the believer into a
knowledge of intercessions, encour-ageing him to experience all
that God has for him in this area. The Word to become keen

This book is a pneumatological reflection on the use and abuse of
the Spirit in light of the abuse of religion within South African
Pentecostalism. Both emerging and well-established scholars of
South African Pentecostalism are brought together to reflect on
pneumatology from various approaches, which includes among others:
historical, biblical, migration, commercialisation of religion,
discernment of spirits and human flourishing. From a broader
understanding of the function of the Holy Spirit in different
streams of Pentecostalism, the argument is that this function has
changed with the emergence of the new Prophetic churches in South
Africa. This is a fascinating insight into one of the major
emerging worldwide religious movements. As such, it will be of
great interest to academics in Pentecostal Studies, Christian
Studies, Theology, and Religious Studies as well as African Studies
and the Sociology of Religion.
What are spiritual gifts? Author and pastor Sam Storms has spent
several decades teaching on the topic of the spiritual gifts and
equipping believers in the faithful practice of God's gifts. Yet
there remains a great deal of confusion about the nature of the
gifts and how they best function in the body of Christ. In this
comprehensive guide to the spiritual gifts, Storms addresses the
many bizarre and misleading interpretations that abound and
confronts the tendency to downplay the urgency of spiritual gifts
for Christian living and ministry. He explains how spiritual gifts,
both the more miraculous and the somewhat mundane, are given to
build up the body of Christ. God has graciously provided these
"manifestations of the Spirit" so that believers might encourage,
edify, strengthen, instruct, and console one another, all with a
view to an ever-increasing, incremental transformation into the
image of Jesus Christ. Throughout this guide, Storms unpacks the
glorious truth that there is a supernatural and divine energy or
power that fills and indwells the body and soul of every born-again
believer. God does not call upon us to speculate about the nature
of this power or to embrace it as a mere idea. His desire is that
we avail ourselves of it to partner with him in his purposes on the
earth. His desire is that we cry out to him that he might
intensify, expand, increase, and deepen the manifestation of this
power through us in ever more demonstrative and tangible ways in
our lives. Understanding Spiritual Gifts is useful as a reference
to address common questions about the gifts, but it also serves as
a training manual for using and exercising the gifts in ministry.
It is perfect for any individual or group who wants to grow in
their understanding of the gifts for today.
Do not make the mistake multiplied thousands of Christians are
making. That is, wondering and wavering concerning the will of God
in anything that is promised by God.
The Bible teaches us that we are to be filled with God's Spirit and
that God's presence and grace is manifested among his people as
they serve, love, and minister to one another. Yet some of the
gifts that God offers to his people aren't commonly seen in many
churches today. Gifts of prophecy, healing, tongues, and other
supernatural gifts of God seem to be absent, and many Christians
are unsure how to cultivate an atmosphere where God's Spirit can
work while remaining committed to the foundational truth of God's
Word. How can Christians pursue and implement the miraculous gifts
of the Spirit without falling into fanatical excess and splitting
the church in the process? In Practicing the Power, pastor and
author Sam Storms offers practical steps to understanding and
exercising spiritual gifts in a way that remains grounded in the
word and centered in the gospel. With examples drawn from his forty
years of ministry as a pastor and teachers, Storms offers a
guidebook that can help pastors, elders, and church members
understand what changes are needed to see God move in supernatural
power and to guard against excess and abuse of the spiritual gifts.
If you long to see God's Spirit move in your church and life, and
aren't sure why that isn't happening or where to begin, this book
is for you.

Groundbreaking Book Now Revised and Updated A witch's coven in
Argentina became a lighthouse of prayer in less than 60 minutes. A
prodigal son returned to the Lord in California. An adopted son and
the father who had cast him out years before were reunited in
Christ. These are real stories of real lives and cities being
transformed through the power of prayer evangelism. In this revised
and updated edition of a watershed book, bestselling author Ed
Silvoso shows that when you change a city's spiritual climate,
everything--and everybody--is transformed. It was something the
early church knew innately, and here Ed shares a proven, biblical,
and practical plan to help you change the spiritual climate of your
city. Fulfilling the Great Commission is no longer a distant hope;
it is a fast-approaching reality that we may see in our own
lifetime. What better time to join the effort?
Most of the early twentieth-century Pentecostal denominations were
peace churches that encouraged a stance of conscientious objection.
However, since the Second World War Pentecostals have largely
abandoned their pacifist viewpoint as they have taken on a more
literal Biblical hermeneutic from their interaction with
Evangelical denominations. This book traces the history of
nonviolence in Pentecostalism and suggests that a new hermeneutic
of the Bible is needed by today's Pentecostals in order for them to
rediscover their pacifist roots and effect positive social change.
The book focuses on how Pentecostalism has manifested in South
Africa during the twentieth century. Much of the available academic
literature on hermeneutics and exegesis in the field of Pentecostal
Studies is of an American or British-European origin. This book
redresses this imbalance by exploring how the Bible has been used
amongst African Pentecostals to teach on the apparent paradox of a
simultaneously wrathful and loving God. It then goes onto suggest
that how the Bible is read directly affects how Pentecostals view
their role as potential reformers of society. So, it must be
engaged seriously and thoughtfully. By bringing Pentecostalism's
function in South African society to the fore, this book adds a
fresh perspective on the issue of pacifism in world Christianity.
As such it will be of great use to scholars of Pentecostal Studies,
Theology, and Religion and Violence as well as those working in
African Studies.
"A Different Gospel," a book for the heart and the mind, is must
reading for those who seek reliable information about the "Word of
Faith" movement. Every Christian should read this book in order to
be aware of the dangerous implications of the widespread and cultic
"Word of Faith" movement preaching what is popularly known as
""Name It and Claim It"" theology. "A Different Gospel" is a bold
and revealing examination of the biblical and historical basis of
this movement. This new and revised edition is complete with a
foreword by Hank Hanegraaff, author of "Christianity in Crisis,"
and a new afterward by D. R. McConnell. The author knows the
movement first hand and has a heart for those snared by it. He is
also an academically trained observer who has based his work on
careful historical and biblical analysis. McConnell warns of the
movement's cultic nature in its doctrine of healing and its
understanding of the atonement and demonstrates how far the
movement's doctrine of prosperity is from Scripture's true
teaching.
Pentecostalism is currently the fastest-growing Christian movement,
with hundreds of millions of followers. This growth overwhelmingly
takes place outside of the West, and women make up 75 percent of
the membership. The contributors to Spirit on the Move examine
Pentecostalism's appeal to black women worldwide and the ways it
provides them with a source of community and access to power.
Exploring a range of topics, from Neo-Pentecostal churches in Ghana
that help women challenge gender norms to evangelical gospel
musicians in Brazil, the contributors show how Pentecostalism helps
black women draw attention to and seek remediation from the
violence and injustices brought on by civil war, capitalist
exploitation, racism, and the failures of the state. In fleshing
out the experiences, theologies, and innovations of black women
Pentecostals, the contributors show how Pentecostal belief and its
various practices reflect the movement's complexity, reach, and
adaptability to specific cultural and political formations.
