With the release of the DSC-RX100 II camera, Sony has built upon
the success of the earlier RX100 model, adding a hot shoe, tilting
LCD screen, Wi-Fi capability, upgraded digital sensor, and several
other enhancements. White Knight Press, which published a
well-received guide to the RX100, has released this new guide book
that addresses all of the new features of the RX100 II and includes
a full discussion of the many advanced features that are common to
both camera models. With the publication of this book, author
Alexander White provides users of the RX100 II with a guide to all
operations, features, menus, and controls of the camera. Using a
patient, tutorial-like approach, the book shows beginning and
intermediate photographers not only how to accomplish things with
the RX100 II, but when and why to use the camera's many features.
The book does not assume specialized knowledge by the reader as it
explains topics such as autofocus, manual focus, depth of field,
aperture priority, shutter priority, exposure compensation, white
balance, and ISO sensitivity. The book provides full details of the
camera's numerous shooting modes as well as its many menu options
for shooting, playback, setup, and special effects. The book
includes full coverage of the new features of the RX100 II,
including the use of the camera's built-in capability to transfer
images and videos over a wireless network and to allow the camera
to be controlled remotely by a smartphone or tablet. The book
includes approximately 400 photographs, most in full color, which
illustrate the camera's controls, shooting screens, and menus. The
images also provide examples of the types of photographs that can
be taken using the many creative settings of the camera, including
the Photo Creativity settings, which let the photographer alter the
color processing of images; the Scene shooting mode, with settings
that are optimized for various subjects, including landscapes,
portraits, and action shots; the Creative Style and Picture Effect
menu options, which offer dramatic options for altering the
appearance of images; and the camera's strong array of features for
continuous shooting and shooting in dim lighting. In addition, the
book goes beyond the bounds of everyday photography, and provides
introductions to more advanced topics such as infrared photography,
street photography, astrophotography, digiscoping, and macro
photography. The book also includes a full discussion of the video
recording abilities of the RX100 II, which can shoot
high-definition (HD) video with stereo sound, and which offers
manual control of exposure and focus during movie recording. In
three appendices, the book provides information about accessories
available for the RX100 II, including cases, external flash units,
viewfinders, and filter adapters, and includes a list of web sites
and other resources for further information. Also, the book
includes a detailed appendix with helpful "quick tips" that give
particular insights into how to take advantage of the camera's
features in the most efficient ways possible. This guide to the
RX100 II includes a detailed index, so the reader can quickly find
needed information about any particular feature or aspect of the
camera.

Located in Rochester, New York, Eastman Kodak was one of the
world's leading manufacturers of photographic film for 125 years.
Following the company's declaration of bankruptcy in 2012,
photographers Alex Webb (born 1952) and Rebecca Norris Webb (born
1956) traveled to Rochester to capture images of the city during
the twilight of Kodak's existence. "Memory City" responds to the
uncertain future of Kodak film as a medium by presenting a view of
Rochester that reflects the city's prosperous past and current
troubles. Usually known for his color work, for this project Alex
Webb used his final rolls of Kodachrome--a color film now only able
to be processed in black and white--to capture Rochester's fading
grandeur. He also photographed the city's streets in digital color.
Rebecca's photographs consist of color portraits and still-lifes of
Rochester's women, both young and old, taken using Portra--one of
Kodak's last films. For this publication, the artists have also
created a timeline of Rochester's cultural history, tracing the
evolution of the complex, once-vibrant city. This book also
contains quotations from many of the famous writers and thinkers
who have been connected to Rochester and its environs, including
women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony, abolitionist Frederick
Douglass, and poets John Ashbery and Ilya Kaminsky.

A classic reference work now fully revised for a second edition,
Photography combines how-to information with inspiring examples to
illustrate techniques that readers can immediately apply to their
own work, whether in color or black and white. An all-new chapter
on digital photography, plus an in-depth look at the world of
commercial photography, make this edition a "must-have" primer and
reference for beginning through intermediate students, amateurs,
and aspiring professionals.
What a delightful and fascinating book Guiding the amateur and
semi-professional photographer with a very useful day-to-day common
sense approach to photographing women. Photographer/author Andrew J
Boyd takes the reader by surprise by introducing each of the seven
women, telling how they met and what his criteria was in choosing
them as a model. But he goes much farther in some of their personal
experiences, describing a little of their past, present and future
lives. Showing respect and gaining their confidence is easy to see
in the wonderful images of each of these very beautiful women.
Technical advice of how and why with examples throughout the book
will be of great value to most amateur and many semi-pros. Things
like focus and exposure that have always been important whether
working with capturing the digital or film image or for that matter
the very beginnings of photography have not changed, they are still
valuable and need to be emphasized today. What has changed and is
noteworthy is the constantly evolving world of electronics, helping
the photographer better manage lighting, equipment weight and even
his time. The author delves into both of these subjects showing
examples and explaining what equipment trends he uses while
reminding the reader of the old tried and true basics of good
photographic practice.
The first guide to posing and sensitively capturing same-sex
couples on their big day, "The New Art of Capturing Love" equips
semi-pro and professional wedding photographers to enter the
exciting new LGBT wedding photography market.
These are exciting times for marriage equality--but capturing
memorable LGBTQ portraits requires a novel approach to posing,
which until now has been nearly exclusively oriented toward pairing
a taller man in black with a smaller woman in white. What works for
Jack and Jill won't necessarily work for Jack and Michael, let
alone Jill and Louise. "The New Art of Capturing Love" shatters the
"old standards" of wedding and engagement photography by showing
how inappropriate they can be for today's diverse couples, then
shares easy-to-implement poses and techniques that can be applied
to any couple (and wedding party), no matter their orientations, to
create lasting memories.
Featuring a collection of more than 180 same-sex portraits from 46
photographers, this guide is proudly the first--and most
comprehensive--of its kind. Whether you are a wedding photographer
looking to enter this burgeoning market, or a gay or lesbian couple
looking
for visual inspiration, these gorgeous images will both instruct
and inspire.
