Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management - Business-to-Business Customer Loyalty Analysis (Hardcover): Ivan Russo, Ilenia... Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management - Business-to-Business Customer Loyalty Analysis (Hardcover)
Ivan Russo, Ilenia Confente
R4,621 Discovery Miles 46 210 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Many business-to-business (B2B) managers think that customers act rationally and base decisions mostly on price, customer loyalty isn't considered. Companies outsource various activities, which enable them to improve efficiency, reduce costs, focus more on core competencies and improve their innovation capabilities. Supply Chain Management synchronizes the efforts of all parties-particularly suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, dealers, customers-involved in achieving customer's needs. Despite much research, the relationship between customer loyalty and the supply chain strategy remains insufficiently explored and understood by practitioners and academics, while the theme has been extensively developed within marketing literature. Customer Loyalty and Supply Chain Management is the result of years of work by the authors on different projects concerning the overlapping areas of supply chains, logistics and marketing, drawing a connection between the literature to provide a holistic picture of the customer loyalty framework. Emphasis is given to the B2B context, where recent research has provided some clues to support the fact that investment in operations, new technologies and organizational strategy have had a significant role in understanding B2B loyalty, particularly in the context of global supply chains. Moreover, the book provides a modernized and predictive model of B2B loyalty, showing a different methodological approach that aims at capturing the complexity of the phenomenon. This book will be a useful resource for professionals and scholars from across the supply chain who are interested in exploring the dimension of customer loyalty in the challenging supplier and customer context.

Supply Chain Security - A Comprehensive Approach (Hardcover, New): Arthur G. Arway Supply Chain Security - A Comprehensive Approach (Hardcover, New)
Arthur G. Arway
R4,476 Discovery Miles 44 760 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

The supply chain is a complex system of numerous, integrated stakeholders. These stakeholders are responsible for the transportation, storage, documentation, and handling of material goods and cargo. Each entity has its own unique relationship with and role within the chain-as well as its own unique security requirements. The challenge of trying to secure the supply chain at every level is both a domestic and global concern. In this global economy, companies must be able to integrate security into supply chain logistics to protect their employees, assets, and clients from incidents of theft and other damaging events. Supply Chain Security: A Comprehensive Approach provides security professionals the tools necessary to ensure supply chain security. The book demonstrates how to establish and enforce security policies and protocols, including rapid responses that must be deployed in the event of a theft or security incident. Most importantly, it enables professionals to integrate business practices into the planning, development, and successful operation of supply chains to ensure security and protect assets. Drawn from the experience of a recognized leader in domestic and international supply chain logistics, trade, and transportation security, the book illustrates through a series of case studies how security professionals can institute sound security practices. By demonstrating to their stakeholders and potential customers that they provide a secure environment for materials, products, goods, and cargo, companies can increase their customer base and improve their bottom line.

Markovian Demand Inventory Models (Hardcover, 2010 ed.): Dirk Beyer, Feng Cheng, Suresh P. Sethi, Michael Taksar Markovian Demand Inventory Models (Hardcover, 2010 ed.)
Dirk Beyer, Feng Cheng, Suresh P. Sethi, Michael Taksar
R3,250 Discovery Miles 32 500 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Inventory management is concerned with matching supply with demand and a central problem in Operations Management. The problem is to find the amount to be produced or purchased in order to maximize the total expected profit or minimize the total expected cost. Over the past two decades, several variations of the formula appeared, mostly in trade journals written by and for inventory managers. A critical assumption in the inventory literature is that the demands in different periods are independent and identically distributed. However, in real life, demands may depend on environmental considerations or the events in the world such as the weather, the state of economy, etc. Moreover, these events are represented by stochastic processes - exogenous or controlled. In Markovian Demand Inventory Models, the authors are concerned with inventory models where these world events are modeled by Markov processes. Their research on Markovian demand inventory models was carried out over a period of ten years beginning in the early nineties. They demonstrate that the optimality of (s, S)-type policies, or base-stock policies (i.e., s = S) when there are no fixed ordering costs with the provision that the policy parameters s and S depend on the current state of the Markov process representing the environment. Models allowing backorders when the entire demand cannot be filled from the available inventory as well as those when the current demand is lost are considered. As for cost criteria, we treat both the minimization of the expected total discounted cost and the long-run average cost. The average-cost criterion is mathematically more difficult than the discounted cost criteria. Finally, wegeneralize the usual assumptions on holding and shortage costs and on demands that are made in the literature.

Systems for Manufacturing Excellence - Generating Efficient and Reliable Manufacturing Operations (Paperback): Nick Rich,... Systems for Manufacturing Excellence - Generating Efficient and Reliable Manufacturing Operations (Paperback)
Nick Rich, Mohamed Afy Shararah
R1,565 Discovery Miles 15 650 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Many production managers have de-stocked excessively large inventories, gone lean, experimented with continuous improvement processes and introduced new working practices. These interventions have largely failed. Businesses have also failed to invest in the workforce that undertakes improvements. This means that cash flow stops quickly, stocks are depleted to zero and customers lose confidence. Systems for Manufacturing Excellence looks at how people and technology work effectively together to generate high performance manufacturing and service operations. Not everyone is a Toyota but that does not mean we cannot learn from such businesses. The book will present a logic, variety of approaches and methods that underpin the different models of high performance used by 'world class' businesses. The authors use examples from their training with Toyota, work with Tesco, and many world class manufacturing businesses that form their research agenda. The book will help teams run each part of their production process for effectiveness and efficiency, with a high level of discipline that supports excellence in performance.

Josef Packowski
R2,608 Discovery Miles 26 080 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Delivering excellent service to all customers is the key imperative for many sustainable businesses. So why do so many supply chains struggle to fulfill customer requirements at competitive costs? The answer is simple: traditional supply chain planning, which was tailored to a predominantly stable and predictable business environment, cannot handle the new challenges in the world of variability, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity-the VUCA world. Companies can either accept the drawbacks that often result in high inventories, poor asset utilization, and unsatisfactory customer service or, they can change their view of the fundamental approach to supply chain management. LEAN Supply Chain Planning: The New Supply Chain Management Paradigm for Process Industries to Master Today's VUCA World introduces a new paradigm and a new approach to managing variability, uncertainty, and complexity in today's planning processes and systems. Introducing a cutting-edge supply chain management concept that addresses current problems in the process industry's supply chains, the book presents powerful methods developed by leading research institutes, process industry champions, and supply chain experts. It explains how readers can change their approach to the fundamental planning paradigms in a manner that will help their organizations achieve higher levels of responsiveness, improved levels of customer service, and substantial increases in cost-efficiencies. This holistic practitioner's guide describes how to establish the right accountabilities for performance management and also provides a set of meaningful metrics to help measure your progress. Supplying detailed guidelines for transforming your supply chain, it includes first-hand reports of leading organizations that have already adopted some of the facets of this paradigm and used the relevant instruments to achieve unprecedented improvements to customer service, supply chain agility, and overall equipment effectiveness.

Supply Chain Management - A Learning Perspective (Paperback, 3rd Revised edition): Bowon Kim Supply Chain Management - A Learning Perspective (Paperback, 3rd Revised edition)
Bowon Kim
R1,459 Discovery Miles 14 590 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This edition of Supply Chain Management (SCM) was revised to appeal to a wider readership besides students taking SCM courses. Global supply chain managers and researchers in the fields of SCM and operations strategy would find it a useful reference. Rather than discuss the technical issues of SCM, the book focuses on the strategic perspectives and approaches of SCM. Students learn to identify SCM issues from the top management's perspective. The book also presents real-world managerial problems and incorporates case studies for connecting theories with practices. By exploring the fundamental issues of SCM, managers acquire a new learning perspective that enables them to solve problems in a more sustainable and innovative manner rather than use short-term, ad hoc solutions. Finally, it distils various theoretical concepts to allow researchers to observe real SCM issues in a managerial context which allows for practical, meaningful and impactful research to be carried out.

Mastering the Supply Chain - Principles, Practice and Real-Life Applications (Paperback): Ed Weenk Mastering the Supply Chain - Principles, Practice and Real-Life Applications (Paperback)
Ed Weenk
R1,262 Discovery Miles 12 620 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Mastering the Supply Chain is an introduction to supply chain management. The book integrates theory with practice and aims to create a cross-functional mindset in students and practitioners. It provides a wide overview of relevant supply chain concepts and sets out the challenges that need to be overcome in order to find practical ways of implementing these in a real company situation. Readers are continuously asked to actively reflect on the choices they make, thus experiencing first-hand the many challenges that good and effective supply chain management presents. Mastering the Supply Chain presents a different way of learning that puts the reader at the heart of a life-like situation, so that they experience the impact of every decision they make, not just in their own 'silo' but across the business. In this way, they will learn that many supply chain concepts are relatively simple to understand, but not so easy to apply in reality. Chapter 6 helps students to pull everything they've learned together and see how the concepts play out in the real world by guiding them through an interactive demonstration of the online business simulation game The Fresh Connection (free access is included with the book). This is a key text for students on supply chain management BScs and MScs as well as background reading for students playing the full version of The Fresh Connection Business Simulation game.

This book analyses and proposes solutions to one of the core challenges faced in the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) supply chains in the oil and gas industry, a field that is currently impacted by low oil prices, emerging technologies and a societal transition to cleaner energies. It describes the end-to-end nature of the oil and gas supply chain, and challenges paradigms and accepted ways of working within the industry - such as wastes driven by broken interfaces, naivete regarding supply chains, and the practice that considers re-organisation to be the answer to these challenges - and identifies opportunities to shift this paradigm towards reliability and value. Moreover, the book shares the authors' front-line experience and encourages readers to consider deploying the solutions presented in their own contexts. The insights from the book's 12 modules are based on personal experiences and are industry-generic, allowing them to be transferred to other MRO supply chains. Readers are encouraged to use this book as a reference for their own supply chain transformations. The book is primarily intended for practitioners, including chief operating officers, chief financial officers, chief supply chain officers, engineers and heads of procurement, purchasing, operations, and materials management.

Today's business environment is constantly evolving, filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity and driven by digital transformation, globalization, and the need to creating value through innovation. These shifts demand that organizations view contracting through a different lens. Since it is impossible to predict every what-if scenario in a transactional contract, organizations in strategic and complex partnerships must shift to a mindset of shared goals and objectives built upon a strong foundation of transparency and trust, working together to mitigate risk much better than merely shifting risk to the weaker party. Contracting in the New Economy helps you to not only develop this mindset - but also offers the practical tools needed to embrace the social side of contracting, enabling your organization to harness the value creating potential of formal relational contracts. Briefly sharing the theoretical foundations that prove relational contracting works, it goes well beyond theory by providing powerful examples of relational contracting principles in practice. In addition, the authors provide a practical and proven approach for helping you to put relational contracting theory into practice for your own relationships. First by providing a framework for approaching any contracting situation and helping organizations finding the best contract model for each situation. And then by sharing five proven steps you can take to create an effective relational contract for you own strategic and complex business relationships. For anyone involved in developing contracts -lawyers, in-house counsels, contract managers, C-level managers, procurement officers, and so on - this book will empower you to create powerful cooperative alliances that will help you reach -and surpass - your business goals in today's dynamic new environment.

Choke Points - Logistics Workers Disrupting the Global Supply Chain (Hardcover): Jake Alimahomed-Wilson, Immanuel Ness Choke Points - Logistics Workers Disrupting the Global Supply Chain (Hardcover)
Jake Alimahomed-Wilson, Immanuel Ness
R2,488 Discovery Miles 24 880 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Global capitalism is a precarious system. Relying on the steady flow of goods across the world, trans-national companies such as Wal-Mart and Amazon depend on the work of millions in docks, warehouses and logistics centres to keep their goods moving. This is the global supply chain, and, if the chain is broken, capitalism grinds to a halt. This book looks at case studies across the world to uncover a network of resistance by these workers who, despite their importance, often face vast exploitation and economic violence. Experiencing first hand wildcat strikes, organised blockades and boycotts, the authors explore a diverse range of case studies, from South China dockworkers to the transformation of the port of Piraeus in Greece, and from the Southern California logistics sector, to dock and logistical workers in Chile and unions in Turkey.
