This book is an English translation of Book 25 of the Astrologia Gallica, in which Morin explains how to make Mundane Predictions for a particular place by using Aries Ingresses and Lunations (along with their quarters) as the main tools. He discusses the common use of Solar and Lunar Eclipses for that purpose and concludes that they are of only minor importance and do not have the long-lasting effects usually attributed to them. He also discusses the possibility of drawing some conclusions from the Conjunctions of the outer Planets and even from Comets. Morin was a physician who became the most renowned of all French astrologers. He was appointed Royal Mathematician to King Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at the birth of the royal heir, the future King Louis XIV. The present volume contains Morin s example charts of several Ingresses and one Eclipse as seen at Paris, France, in 1646, with a detailed explanation of his method of interpreting them. An added feature of this book is Jean Hieroz s statement of Offusius s rules for Planetary strength and Hieroz s own account of his efforts to use Morin s methods to predict the outbreak of World War II in 1939. Jean Hieroz (b.1889) was a prominent French astrologer in the 1930s and 1940s. He had studied under Henri Selva, the French revival astrologer who had rescued J-B Morin s Astrologia Gallica from obscurity and published the first translation of Book 21 of that work. James Herschel Holden is Research Director of the American Federation of Astrologers and has previously translated Books 13-17, 19, 22, 23, and 24 of the Astrologia Gallica.
Traditional chart interpretation regarded a retrograde natal planet as being weakened, but many of today's astrologers have different opinions: the planet's energy is more internalized or strengthened, or causes delay or confusion. To illustrate, retrograde Mercury causes mail to be lost, appointments to be missed and a general breakdown in communication. Helen Adams writes: "For far too long retrograde planets have been misunderstood or not understood at all . . . retrogrades are not really all bad " Here she presents a guide to interpreting retrograde planets in the natal and progressed chart as well as by transit. Also included is each retrograde planet's relationship to health.
From ALEPH to ZODIACAL CONSTELLATIONS, this volume is a concise and lucid explanation of important Astrological terms. It offers a brief glossary and explanation of the technical terms employed within the field. All students should be familiar with these definitions, which are of primary importance in the study of Astrology. [Facsimile reprint of the 1932 edition.]

Horoscopes of Latin America is Marc Penfield's fifth book on countries of the world, each arranged by continent. This encyclopedic tome is divided into four sections: Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. It's the definitive work on 40 countries and colonies that make up this part of the world. Most countries, except the Caribbean, declared their independence from Spain or Portugal over a brief period of time. Some became monarchies (Mexico and Brasil) while others joined forces with other countries for a while. The nations of Central America (except Panama) bear close scrutiny as they gained their freedom at the same moment in time; their birth dates are identical, but when the charts are relocated there are some major differences, especially for Costa Rica. Marc Penfield outlines the basic character of the Latin American people by delineating the chart for Isabela, the oldest European settlement in the western hemisphere. Charts for over 130 cities have been included, most of them for their founding date, a few for their charter date. Progressed aspects to the angles for each city and country are shown, which makes this book a valuable teaching tool for students learning the mundane, or geopolitical, branch of astrology.
This book is an English translation of Book 16 of the Astrologia Gallica. In the First Section, Morin explains the difference between Rays and Aspects, and he then discusses the natures of the aspects, why some of them are good and others bad, and finally he proposes a rational theory of the orbs of the aspects. The Second Section is devoted to Applications and Separations and Doryphories. The Third Section discusses the topic of Combustion with examples from Morin's own horoscope. Morin was a physician who became the most renowned of all French astrologers. He was appointed Royal Mathematician to King Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at the birth of the royal heir, the future King Louis XIV. James Herschel Holden is Research Director of the American Federation of Astrologers and has been especially interested in the Morin Method of horoscope interpretation.

This book is an English translation of Book 21 of the Astrologia Gallica, in which Morin sets forth his method of horoscope interpretation. In the first section of the book he reviews the methods of other astrologers and explains why they are insufficient. In the second section he explains his own method, which is both different from and superior to the traditional methods. Morin was a physician who became the most renowned of all French astrologers. He was appointed Royal Mathematician to King Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at the birth of the royal heir, the future King Louis XIV. His master work, the Astrologia Gallica, was published in Paris in 1661. It consists of a Preface and 26 individual books in the scholarly Latin of the 17th century. Many of these Books are now available in English translation, but Book 21 should be read first as it contains the fundamental explanation of the Morin method. Richard S. Baldwin made this English translation directly from the Latin text.
Sahl bin Bishr (Zahel) and Masha'allah were two of the most influential medieval astrologers from the Arabic period. This essential work in medieval astrology translates 16 of their works, most for the first time, and includes many charts and lengthy introductory remarks and explanations by the translator.
"Astrological Gastronomy" is based on the thesis that cooking and eating are idiosyncratic and that effectiveness in partaking in culinary activities is enhanced if it is grounded in a culture and complemented by an understanding of personal attributes. This unique approach should appeal to the community of cookbook readers from a variety of perspectives. The idea of "temperamental cooking and eating explained" is an invitation to readers of astrology columns as well as to all observers of popular culture. The focus upon dishes from Africa, Latin America, and Asia should appeal to experimental cooks, while the regional and ethnic character of American recipes should draw the attention of people who prefer provincial cuisine. Finally, the personalization of recipes in the setting of their evolution and relationships with foods in other cultures lends a humane quality to the collection that is enriched with numerous related explanatory notes and suggestions for accompaniments.
In the first chapters of this book we simultaneously follow two threads. While considering the lives of Richard Wagner, Friedrich Nietzsche, and King Ludwig II of Bavaria in their nineteenth-century incarnations and in earlier incarnations, we examine the planetary configurations accompanying not only their conception, birth, and death, but also various significant events in their lives. In this way we experience how these two perspectives-the biographical and the astrological-weave together and are intimately interconnected. As illuminating as this is, the author also indicates however that astrological calculation alone can never suffice for the truly deep biographical research into karma and reincarnation demonstrated in this work. The author shows that although it is clear that an individual's destiny is connected with the positions of the celestial bodies-that certain regular occurrences are evident-nonetheless no strict regularities exist. He maintains moreover that a certain level of clairvoyance is requisite for any serious astrological study of destiny; even more-that real astrology requires initiation. Such astrological research, when successfully carried out as it is here, relating salient celestial configurations to the life-drama of well-known historical personalities, reads like fine literature. On a practical level this work illustrates several important new tools for the astrologer: how to calculate hermetic charts, how to cast horoscopes not only of birth and death but also of conception (including the astrological significance of the embryonic period between conception and birth), and then also how to apply these various horoscopes in describing the spiral of life that unfolds in seven-year periods during the course of a person's earthly existence. All this reveals profound and fascinating regularities-among them the discovery that stellar configurations during the embryonic period are reflected again and again in the subsequent periods of life. Quite new for most readers will be the author's treatment of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, indicating that the names given these planets are deeply meaningful in the light of spiritual science. To make his case he extends Rudolf Steiner's description of cosmic evolution by drawing upon Greek mythology, particularly Orphic cosmology. This book by Robert Powell is of the greatest possible interest. Professor Konrad Rudni_ki Astronomical Observatory Jagiellonian University Cracow, Poland

A Rectification Manual presents the first synthesis of medieval astrology's predictive techniques applied to natal chart rectification. For too many years, an incomplete predictive model has hampered efforts by astrologers to compute an accurate birth time. With no consensus on rectification methods, rectified birth times are commonly held in such disrepute they rank on par with dirty data, as defined by Astrodatabank, a leading astrology database vendor. With the recovery of medieval predictive techniques, the era of disenchantment over rectification is now over. Not just Transits, Progressions, and Solar Arcs; but techniques ranging from Fidaria to Primary Directions fill out a complete predictive toolbox. For the first time, proper attribution between life events and corresponding predictive methods is now possible; making accurate rectification an achievable feat. Rectified to-the-second birth times for each American President and preliminary birth times for each First Lady are included. A Rectification Manual is the largest collection of natal charts subjected to medieval predictive techniques available in today's marketplace.
In Astrological terms, the prenatal epoch starts at the moment of conception. According to the author, "the prenatal epoch is a certain moment of time, occurring approximately at the commencement of the gestative period... when the degree ascending on the eastern horizon, and the longitude of the moon thereat, interchange with the longitude of the moon and the degree ascending at birth, or their respective opposite points." (pg. 19) What this means is that your prenatal moon was your birth ascendant, and your prenatal ascendant is your birth moon, or the opposite points in the zodiac. There are four possibilities: If the natal moon is above or below the horizon at birth, and if it is increasing or decreasing in light. So what good is this? For one thing, it helps explain infant abnormalities, as well as infant mortality, in cases where there are no other astrological factors. It also aids in reading charts for multiple births: Twins, triplets, quads and quints. Closely allied to the Prenatal Epoch is the Law of Polarity, or sex. Properly calculated, the Prenatal Epoch will not only confirm the sex of the individual, it will also serve to rectify the birth-time itself. Unlike other methods of rectification, where absurdly large time changes can result, Prenatal Epoch calculations correct minor errors in clock-time, thus enabling greater precision in forecasting.
