In this text, Earl Hopper has made a major contribution to the understanding of the depth and breadth of individuals and how we might help them to know more of their patterns of relatedness with others, inter-personally, socially and culturally. Of particular note is the open honest manner of his consideration of his counter-transference and these can be clearly observed in the abundance of pertinent vignettes. This book draws attention to theory and practice in relation to a side of therapeutic work insufficiently attended to and will reward readers at all stages of professional development. It is written in a clear, accessible style and manages to convey complex ideas in a readily comprehensible manner'. - Psychotherapy and politics international 'The Social Unconscious represents a line of thinking whose time has come. From bullying and youth violence in schools, to bombings in our cities, to anti-semitic or anti-Muslim activities and other race or religious hatred, to anxieties, well founded or otherwise, about immigration - wherever we live, all of us are touched and shaped by these events... This book draws attention to theory and practice in relation to a side of therapeutic work insufficiently attended to and will reward readers at all stages of professional development. It is written in a clear, accessible style and manages to convey complex ideas in a readily comprehensible manner.' - Psychotherapy & Politics International 'Dr Hopper argues for the awareness of, and training in, the processes of what he terms the Social Unconscious, for all mental health professionals. Hopper provides insight into the multiple forces that affect us and how we may reorganize our constraints. Does Hopper simply find what he is looking for, or does he discover something new? I recommend readers take this book of essays seriously and make their own decision.' - Psychologist - Psychoanalyst 'A very timely selection of papers by Earl Hopper on a very timely subject... People need to recognize that we are not merely passive sufferers of our world, rather we constitute it and have the power to shape it to a great extent. Much of what goes on in that world is unconscious in spite of the fact that we make it, therefore the importance of the social unconscious has been in the centre of Earl's interest for a number of years, and he has become one of the best known exponents of it.' - Reflections 'This most timely book - with its ready application across disciplines in a world fragmented by group-induced conflicts and traumas - will, no doubt, stimulate many thoughts, feelings and new possibilities for integration.' - Mark Ettin, Group Psychotherapist and Group Relations Consultant, USA 'The Social Unconscious offers a carefully composed selection of the author's group analytic contributions... the complexities of sociology, group analysis and psychoanalysis are put in mutually enriching perspectives.' - Dieter Nitzgen, Psychoanalyst and Group Analyst, Germany 'This record will be a lasting contribution to the literature. He movingly records with startling honesty the details of his family background and current history with poetic grace, thus applying what he has learned of the social unconscious to his own practice.' - W. Gordon Lawrence, Group Relations and Organizational Consultant, UK 'Earl Hopper's writing contributes a penetrating and unique view of pathology rooted in society as well as in the individual psyche.' - Dennis Brown, Psychoanalyst and Group Analyst, UK The social unconscious and its manifestations in group analysis are the focus of this important new book of Earl Hopper's selected papers. Drawing on sociology, psychoanalysis and group analysis, he argues that groups and their participants are constrained unconsciously by social, cultural and political facts and forces. These hypotheses are illustrated with clinical vignettes concerning anti-Semitism, racism, the politics of class and gender, and the effects of rapid social change. Transference and countertransference processes are examined both vividly and honestly. Theoretically generative and clinically astute, this book will be of value to both analysts and their stud

Adolescents are among the most sleep deprived populations in our society. This book explores the genesis and development of sleep patterns at this phase of the life span. It examines biological and cultural factors that influence sleep patterns, presents risks associated with lack of sleep, and reveals the effects of environmental factors such as work and school schedules on sleep. This study will appeal to psychologists and sociologists of adolescence who have not yet considered the important role of sleep in the lives of our youth.

ELMAN INDUCTION A very effective rapid hypnosis induction created by Dave Elman. It is considered the best guaranteed induction by many hypnotists since it is completely permissive and relies upon he subject to pace themselves into trance with the help of the hypnotist. Created by Dave Elman the renowned hypnotist, author and radio show host. Below is the Elman induction word for word. However it was originally used in 1963, that's fifty years ago, it is still generally accepted that it is a basis for a good induction but needs updating due to the wording being outdated but also there is quite a lot of questioning of the subject and this may have a tendency to unravel the trance slightly. Especially if there is any misunderstanding. So first will be the induction in pure form and next my own modified version. The Elman induction: Will you just take a good long deep breath and close your eyes...now relax the muscles around your eyes to the point where those eye muscles won't work and when you're sure they won't work....test them and make sure they won't work... ...And so on... Hope you enjoyed this sample of part of the E's. HAPPY READING And of course HAPPY ZAPPING
In Dreaming Souls, Owen Flanagan provides both an accessible survey of the latest research on sleep and dreams and a compelling new theory about the nature and function of dreaming. Flanagan argues that while sleep has a clear biological function and adaptive value, dreams are merely side effects, 'free-riders', irrelevant from an evolutionary point of view. But dreams are hardly unimportant. Indeed, Flanagan argues that dreams are self-expressive, the result of our need to find or create meaning, even when we are sleeping.
Directly after the 1900 publication of "The Interpretation of
Dreams, "Freud wrote this more concise, accessible version of his
theory of dreams as disguised wish fulfillment. This classic of
modern psychology contrasts scientific and popular views of dreams,
considers their origins, and discusses the effects of mental
mechanisms.
First published in 1974, this book established itself as a seminal text of the magical revival--a thinking person's guide to the unthinkable.
In 1993 I published a novel kind of theory of psychic phenomena in a book entitled 'Shadow Matter And Psychic Phenomena'. Although I devoted a whole chapter to the issue of possible survival of the human personality after bodily death, I did not go remotely far enough. Contrary to common-sense, it seems physically quite possible that an important component of each of us survives death. It is a part of this component which during life and death carries our memories and our ability to think, feel etc., Perhaps a valuable guide to the possible machinery of death and dying might be obtained by attempts to elucidate the conceivable mechanisms of Near Death Experiences (NDEs). Various people have studied these for many years. My own theorising begins with a critical reappraisal of some of these ideas on NDEs. In the course of the argument I hope to persuade the reader of the advantages of a theory based in the new physics of shadow matter.

My training with them was excellent, however it was greatly enhanced by Jonathan Royle's material and indeed Royle's material was excellent and far superior to the recognized course. His therapy skills are equal if not greater than the majority of therapists I have met to date and he teaches everything he knows in an open and honest manner. We need people like Royle to raise the profile of Hypnosis and I would recommend his courses to anyone who wants to become a better Hypnotist " Dr. WILF ARCHER - PhD - www.mindskills.co.uk "A few years ago I attended a training run by Paul McKenna, Michael Breen and Richard Bandler, it was good and I learned a lot but Jonathan Royle 's training course make's them seem like old nannies There is absolutely no time wasting or useless information and Royle's unique manner of teaching makes everything very easy to learn and remember. This course is without doubt money well spent " FRANK LEA - www.hypnotherapycoventry.net "The course contains much unique material, which as far as I know is not taught anywhere else and will certainly make you a better Hypnotist and Therapist, especially when presenting any public demonstrations " DAVID BOTSFORD - www.stopsmokingsolutions.co.uk "Having previously done a more conventional "approved" NLP course which took many days and cost lots of money, I would have said it was impossible to learn NLP in just two days However after attending Royle's course I can honestly say that this is exactly what he does and he also teaches you what you need to know about clinical Hypnosis and his own approach of Complete Mind Therapy, in short this course is a worthwhile investment " DEZ SELLARS - www.completemindtherapy.com Indeed many of Royle's Students have stated that this book teaches more of use in the real world of Hypnotherapy and Stage Hypnosis than all of the others on the market put t

for those interested in exploring their inner worlds.'" - Dr Keith

Foreword By Dewey Kelley And Hornell Hart.
First published twenty years ago, this revised edition of John Sanford's classic exploration of the psychological and spiritual significance of dreams draws on the work of C.G. Jung to show how dreams can help us find healing and wholeness and reconnect us to a living spiritual world. Featuring a new preface by the author and using case histories from his own experience as a counselor, Dreams traces the role of dreams in the Bible, analyzing their nature and examining how Christians, through fear and the constraints of dogma, have come to reject the visions through which God speaks to humanity, making dreams -- in Sanford's words -- "God's forgotten language."
The Original and Still the Greatest Book of Hypnotic Seduction
Poetry. These seduction poems give you the ability to hypnotize
women and give them post-hypnotic suggestions to adore and want you
- simply by reading them some mildly erotic poems. The NLP for PUA
Foreword explains the hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming
(NLP) language patterns used to capture and lead a woman's
imagination (and body) into bed. Here are some of the many positive
comments I have received from men and women: "Women accept them
because of their unobtrusive and romantic nature, without realizing
the deep hidden commands that are taking place ..." (Richard G.

Meditation is a complex field of research and presents many intricate problems which are being tackled by various disciplines of both life sciences and liberal arts. There is a high amount of scientific information gathered so far, however data are rather divergent, sometimes even contradictory and there are also numerous questions without any available data to answer. There are also many inadequacies of study design and methodology. This book introduces the reader to what scientific research can tell us about meditation today. The text is dedicated to life-science aspects of meditation including prompt neuropsychological and psychophysiological changes, long-run psychological and physiological effects and also preventive and clinical use of meditation.
This text presents a new approach to the use of hypnotic suggestion. For years, hypnotherapists have used scripts which are aimed at a particular problem, like smoking or weight loss, rather than aiming at the client who smokes or has weight issues. Trevor Silvester suggests that it is not the problem that is the problem; it's the client's unique relationship with the problem that's the problem. The book aims to free you from the constraints of scripts and enable you to use your creative skill to weave subtle spells that empower your clients by changing their model of reality. It presents the science behind suggestion, and the means of using that science to create magical ways of influencing others. Using research from neuroscience, evolutionary psychology and NLP, Silvester covers such topics as: how past learning guides us now, and how misinterpretation of our childhood experiences can shape our present; how much of our behaviour is unconscious and often not in our direct control; the matrix model of behaviour that can accurately map the process of a problem; and how our neurological levels organize our version of reality. "Wordweaving" takes this knowledge and integrates it into a modern understanding of hypnosis to form a step-by-step method for learning powerful hypnotic language. The "Wordweaving" system teaches you how to: aim suggestions specifically at the key points of the client's problem; resolve problems by using the natural trance states we experience while "doing" the problem; and linguistically frame the suggestion using the elegant and subtle language patterns from NLP to give it maximum impact.
Why do we need sleep? How much sleep is enough? What is sleep? What happens when we don't get enough? We spend about a third of our lives asleep - it plays a crucial role in our health and wellbeing. References to sleep abound in literature and art, and sleep has been recognized as fundamental to the human condition for thousands of years. Over the past century, our knowledge of how sleep occurs, what it does, and what happens to our health if we do not have enough has developed hugely. The impact of poor sleep on our quality of life is also gaining recognition and the prevalence of sleep disorders in the population appears to be increasing as we live ever stressful lives. This Very Short Introduction addresses the biological and psychological aspects of sleep, providing a basic understanding of what sleep is and how it is measured, looking at sleep through the human lifespan and the causes and consequences of major sleep disorders. Russell G. Foster and Steven W. Lockley go on to consider the impact of modern society, examining the relationship between sleep and work hours, and the impact of our 24/7 society. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable.
Intuition, gut feelings, hunches. . . Call it what you like, we all possess unconscious wisdom. And, as the stories in this book make clear, that wisdom has the power to heal. A couple use their unconscious knowledge of each other to trade identities in trance-and, as a result, resolve their marital problems. A woman progressively loses her sight rather than "see" painful aspects of her past, then recovers her vision as she confronts and resolves the history she has long denied. A woman in deep trance endures a five hour surgery without anesthesia, even stopping her own bleeding on cue. These extraordinary true stories are typical of the solutions possible when a patient's unconscious mind is brought to the task of healing. Drawn from the practice of internationally noted family therapist and hypnotherapist David L. Calof, these ten tales give us remarkable insight into the powers of the human mind.
Today, hypnotism is recognized as an effective therapeutic tool and its importance is growing. This book shows how hypnotism reached its present status of acceptance, through two centuries of pioneering effort by several fascinating personalities. Special emphasis is placed on the life and work of Dr. Milton H. Erickson, the foremost mid-20th century exponent of hypnotism and the acknowledged father of modern hypnotherapy. This is the first book to provide a thorough narrative and biographical account of hypnotism's progress from 1775 to the present day. In addition to the history of hypnotism from its shamanistic origins to the modern clinical applications of today, this book looks forward to still greater advances in the use of hypnosis for the relieving and blocking of pain, and in enhancing the human immune system. |
