Der methodische Ansatz verfolgt drei Strange: die Entwicklung der Fachdisziplin Psychologie, die konkrete Institutionsgeschichte sowie die Biographien der wichtigsten Protagonisten dieses Zeitraums. Der Jesuit Johannes Lindworsky grundete das Psychologische Institut wahrend der Weimarer Republik; der Wehrpsychologe Robert Heiss belebte es wahrend des Zweiten Weltkrieges erneut. Ihrer beider Assistentin Maria Krudewig gehoerte zu den wenigen Frauen, die in der damaligen Zeit studieren durften.
