Schizophrene Psychosen sind heterogene Erkrankungen, bei denen ein breites Spektrum psychopathologischer Symptome einer Vielzahl neuropsychologischer Defizite und cerebraler Veranderungen gegenubersteht. Mit modernen bildgebenden Verfahren, wie der Positronen-Emissions-Tomographie oder funktionellen Magnetresonanztomographie, konnen die fraglichen cerebralen Veranderungen dargestellt werden. Die vorliegenden Untersuchungen zeigen, dass drei Subsyndrome der chronischen Schizophrenie mit wahnhafter, astenischer und desorganisieter Symptomatik zu unterscheiden sind. Diese Subsyndrome gehen differentielle Zusammenhange mit klinischen und neuropsychologischen Auffalligkeiten ein und entsprechen weniger umschriebenen cerebralen Storungen, denn einem insgesamt veranderten Aktivitatsmuster.
