Originally published in 1979, The Liberal Dilemma in South Africa
discusses the dilemma of how to overthrow an oppressive social
order maintained through violence in a non-violent manner. The
contributors to this volume were all established social scientists
and academics, with extensive experience of living and doing
research in South Africa. They analyse various aspects of that
dilemma and of the social order which creates it, particularly
emphasizing the role of students, academics and other intellectuals
in South African society.
