Comprehensive Global Competence for World-Class Universities in China - Context, Concept, Model and Evaluation (Hardcover, 1st... Comprehensive Global Competence for World-Class Universities in China - Context, Concept, Model and Evaluation (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2020)
Jian Li
R2,789 Discovery Miles 27 890 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book proposes the new concept of "comprehensive global competence" in order to explore how to advocate, cultivate, and implement global competence at China's higher education institutions. The concept essentially refers to an organizational, cross-cultural capacity involving students, faculty members, administrators, and staff in a multidimensional learning domain that values, shapes, and promotes global competitiveness at higher education institutions. Unlike the other literature available, which has largely approached defining global competence it from four perspectives: an adaptation-change mode, an input-output mode, a willingness-tolerance mode, and a learning-competence mode, this book draws on the theoretical framework put forward in "Dimensions of Learning" (Marzano, 1992) in order to explain the meaning, implications, and justification of the concept of comprehensive global competence. Specifically, Marzano's Dimensions of Learning Model offers a comprehensive research-oriented framework on learning cognition and the learning process. With the help of this resource, the book discusses in detail the conceptual, practical, and strategic aspects of creating comprehensive global competence.

Conceptualizing Soft Power of Higher Education - Globalization and Universities in China and the World (Hardcover, 1st ed.... Conceptualizing Soft Power of Higher Education - Globalization and Universities in China and the World (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2018)
Jian Li
R3,051 Discovery Miles 30 510 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Also, this book provides innovative and unique viewpoints on conceptualizing and mapping the globalization and internationalization of higher education, especially for current Chinese higher education (1949-2016). It discusses and illustrates cutting-edge concepts of global higher education, such as global learning, global competency, and global citizenship and refines them in the conceptualized soft power conversion model of higher education. This book reports on and enriches the theoretical concept of global education, and provides practical insights into global learning, global citizenship and global competency for Chinese undergraduate students.

Cold Rolling Precision Forming of Shaft Parts - Theory and Technologies (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2017): Jian-Li Song, Zhiqi Liu,... Cold Rolling Precision Forming of Shaft Parts - Theory and Technologies (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2017)
Jian-Li Song, Zhiqi Liu, Yongtang Li
R4,095 R3,448 Discovery Miles 34 480 Save R647 (16%) Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book presents in detail the theory, processes and equipment involved in cold rolling precision forming technologies, focusing on spline and thread shaft parts. The main topics discussed include the status quo of research on these technologies; the design and calculation of process parameters; the numerical simulation of cold rolling forming processes; and the equipment used. The mechanism of cold rolling forming is extremely complex, and research on the processes, theory and mechanical analysis of spline cold rolling forming has remained very limited to date. In practice, the forming processes and production methods used are mainly chosen on the basis of individual experience. As such, there is a marked lack of both systematic, theory-based guidelines, and of specialized books covering theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, experiments and equipment used in spline cold rolling forming processes. Illustrated using tables, 3D photographs and formula derivations, this book fills that gap in the literature.

Classroom Culture in China - Collective Individualism Learning Model (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2020): Xudong Zhu, Jian Li Classroom Culture in China - Collective Individualism Learning Model (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2020)
Xudong Zhu, Jian Li
R2,789 Discovery Miles 27 890 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book comprehensively examines classroom culture in the Chinese context and develops the model of "collective-individualism-based learning." Classroom culture plays a fundamental role in constructing students' learning competencies, perceptions, and behaviors. This book puts forward a collective-individualism-based learning model to explain the classroom culture in China, both past and present. The collective-individualism-based model reflects the individualized learning style of students in Chinese classroom culture, and is characterized by nine symbolic objects; a textbook, an exercise book, a pen, a blackboard, a screen, a computer, a table, a chair, and a platform. In addition to summarizing this approach to learning, the book examines the construction of a classroom culture with Chinese characteristics and argues that the collective-individualism-based model accurately portrays the personal learning style of students in a specific classroom culture that includes particular symbolic objects.

Postponement Strategies in Supply Chain Management (Hardcover, 2010): T.C.Edwin Cheng, Jian Li, C. L. Johnny Wan, Shouyang Wang Postponement Strategies in Supply Chain Management (Hardcover, 2010)
T.C.Edwin Cheng, Jian Li, C. L. Johnny Wan, Shouyang Wang
R2,890 Discovery Miles 28 900 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Postponement strategy is one of the major supply chain management (SCM) pr- tices that has a discernible impact on rms' competitive advantage and organi- tional performance. Postponement is a mass customization strategy that captures the advantages of both mass production and mass customization. Recent research studies have identi ed four common postponement strategies, namely pull, logistics, form and price postponement. The former three postponement strategies are linked to production and manufacturing, while the last one is a pure pricing strategy. They aim at balancing the costs and bene ts of mass production and mass customization. Practical examples of postponement can be found in the high-tech industry, food industry and other industries that require high differentiation. However, empirical studies have found that postponement may not be an evident SCM practice compared to the other practices. In addition, postponement has both positive and negative impacts on a supply chain. The advantages include following the JIT principles, reducing end-product inventory, making forecasting easier and pooling risk. The high cost of designing and manufacturing generic components is the main drawback of postponement. Thus, the evaluation of postponement strategy is an important research issue and there have been many qualitative and quantitative models for analyzing postponement under different scenarios.
