Gaspar Noé writes, directs and produces this explicit romantic drama. The story follows American film student Murphy (Karl Glusman) who has split-up with his French girlfriend Elektra (Aomi Muyock) after cheating on her with another woman, named Omi (Klara Kristin). Two years later, a worried phone call from Elektra's mother causes Murphy to spend New Year's Eve in search of his former lover as he ponders how their relationship fell apart.

Factory worker Tom Arnold (Richard Attenborough) does not share the same feelings as his fellow workers in a developing industrial dispute and refuses to go on strike with them. This results in him being 'sent to Coventry' by all concerned, including his best friend Joe Wallace (Michael Craig). The newspapers soon hear about this and the story becomes a matter of national concern, with many different parties trying to use Tom's stance to their own ends.

D.W. Griffith co-writes and directs this epic and controversial account of the American Civil War and its aftermath. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron star in this fourth instalment of the post-apocalyptic action series from film-maker George Miller. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

German drama written and directed by Helma Sanders-Brahms charting a couple's relationship before, during and after the outbreak of the Second World War. After marrying his pregnant girlfriend Lene (Eva Mattes) the day before war breaks out, Hans (Ernst Jacobi) is conscripted to fight for his country in the Nazi army. Now alone in Berlin, Lene gives birth to their daugher Anna (Anna Sanders) but becomes increasingly frustrated with her absent husband's minimal visits home while on leave. After her house is destroyed during the frequent air raids, Lene takes Anna and leaves the capital to join her family in the countryside. Struggling to provide for her daughter, Lene is relieved when she is again reunited with Hans following the end of the war, but in its aftermath, the couple find it difficult to rekindle their love for one another.

The story follows the poet Hoffman (Robert Rounseville) as he attends a performance of the ballerina Stella (Moira Shearer) and proceeds to tell tales of his love for three women: the doll Olympia (Shearer), the courtesan Giuletta (Ludmilla Tcherina) and the frail singer Antonia (Ann Ayars). But as the elder Hoffman recounts the tales from a tavern, his quest for the eternal woman is always thwarted by evil. |
