Collection of 15 documentary shorts from British filmmaker Humphrey Jennings. The films in this volume were made between 1934 and 1940 and include 'The First Days' (1939), 'Spare Time' (1939) and 'London Can Take It!' (1940).

In 1943 a group of mismatched Allied soldiers are sent to sabotage two powerful Nazi guns situated on a Greek island. If their mission fails, the guns will wipe out the 2,000 British soldiers who are attempting to evacuate civilians further down the coast. The mission is led by the dispassionate Captain Mallory (Gregory Peck), whose clinical approach does not find favour with explosives expert Corporal Miller (David Niven). Meanwhile, the group's Greek patriot guide Andrea Stavros (Anthony Quinn) is nursing a grudge against Mallory for an old injustice. A belated sequel, 'Force 10 from Navarone', followed in 1978.

Ren McCormick (Kevin Bacon) is a city kid who moves to a Bible Belt town where dancing is banned by the local hell-fire preacher. Ren defiantly hoofs away in a series of spectacular sequences. The title song was nominated for an Oscar and the film also features the track 'Let's Hear It For the Boy'.

Barbet Schroeder's dark tale follows Stefan (Klaus Grunberg) in his pursuit of an American girl, Estelle (Mimsy Farmer) who he met at a party in Paris and follows to Ibiza. Initially he leads an idyllic lifestyle with her by the sea until he succumbs to the drug culture that Estelle mixes in and the destructive trappings of heroin addiction. The soundtrack is provided by Pink Floyd and features some of their most spontaneous and eclectic work.

Coen Brothers updating of the classic 1969 western starring Jeff Bridges as U.S. Marshal 'Rooster' Cogburn, originally played by John Wayne. After her father is murdered, 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) sets out to capture the killer, Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), with the help of two lawmen - the ageing, alcoholic marshall Rooster Cogburn (Bridges), and Texas Ranger La Boeuf (Matt Damon). Determined to accompany them on their quest, Mattie wonders whether Cogburn, with his loose morals, has the required 'true grit' for the job. When Chaney's trail heads into Indian territory, Mattie, stubborn to the last, insists on joining the pair in their search, which soon finds them in a raft of dangerous adventures that will test them to the core.

Latvian soprano Kristine Opolais takes the lead role in Dvorak's opera about a water nymph who becomes a human being in order to find love. Recorded at the Bavarian State Opera in 2010, the production also features Klaus Florian Vogt, Nadia Krasteva, Günther Groissböck and Janina Baechle. The conductor is Tomas Hanus.

This Japanese comedy drama by Yasujiro Ozu, based on a novel by Ton Satomi, is a reworking of his earlier film 'Late Spring'. At the memorial service of their friend, Miwa (Chishu Ryu), three of his old friends devise a plot to find a husband for his unmarried daughter, Ayako (Yoko Tsukasa). To their consternation, Ayako refuses to fall in with their plan, expressing a preference to remain with her mother, Akiko (Setsuko Hara). The three men all harbour a lifetime crush on Akiko but agree that one of them should marry Ayako, which causes conflict among both family and friends. Eventually, with the help of Ayako's friend, Yukiko (Mariko Okada), Akiko and Ayako are reconciled, and Ayako concedes to marry according to the wishes of her elders.

Kenneth Clarke's eloquent and deeply personal documentary series exploring the cultural heritage of the western world, from the collapse of the Roman Empire until the birth of modernism, was groundbreaking television when first broadcast by the BBC in 1969. With its use of exotic locations, and its engaging presenter with his idiosyncratic style, it influenced much of what was to follow. Progressing from the cultural effects of feudalism in medieval Europe to the birth of the Renaissance in fifteenth-century Florence, from revolutionary politics in France after 1789 to the growth of materialism in artistic and scientific discourse, Clarke did not just examine 'art', but wanted to reveal the spiritual and humanistic motives behind its creation. Roy Boulton directs this classic adaptation of the Graham Greene novel detailing the activities of a group of thugs in 1930s Brighton. Since only one person can identify him as the murderer, the waitress, Rose Brown (Carol Marsh), Pinkie comes up with an ingenious solution - marry Rose to stop her testifying against him. Full-length feature based on the Belgian comics created by Peyo in 1958. The villainous McCreep appropriates the magic flute which was created by the Smurfs. McCreep uses the magic flute, which makes people dance uncontrollably, to steal from others. Court jester Peewit and knight Johan are sent by their King to find the villain and return with the flute. With the help of wizard Homnibus, Peewit and Johan travel to Smurfland where Papa Smurf decides a new flute will be made which will counteract with the original one. But when McCreep and his partner in crime, Flatbroke, plan to invade the King's castle, the Smurfs must come up with a plan to outwit the criminals.

Israeli war drama directed by Samuel Maoz and based on his own experiences. Depicting 24 hours in the life of four Israeli paratroopers at the outset of the 1982 Lebanon invasion, the film follows the soldiers on a mission to clear a Lebanese area of hostile fighters. Filmed almost entirely from inside the tank in which they are travelling, the film follows the men as they cope with the deteriorating state of the tank, the stress, intense heat and cramped conditions inside, the occasional failure of the communication equipment, navigational problems and the inevitable quarrelling.
