Collection of highlights from the first ever Salzburg Biennalle, a festival for new music founded in 2009 by Hans Landesmann. The festival took place in March and featured a variety of musical performances, including orchestra and chamber music, as well as lectures, films and other multimedia projects.

German soprano Diana Damrau is Konstanze, with Olga Peretyatko as Blonde and Franz Josef Selig as Osmin, in Christophe Loy's production of Mozart's opera Singspiel, performed at Barcelona's Gran Teatre Del Liceu in 2011. Ivor Bolton conducts.

Live performance of Frédéric Chopin's piano works, recorded in February 2010 in Warsaw, the composer's birthplace. Pianists Nelson Goerner, Kevin Kenner and Janusz Olejniczak perform with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, conducted by Frans Brüggen. The footage also features interviews with the soloists and orchestra leader Marc Destrubé.

Documentary capturing the making of violinist Viktoria Mullova's album 'The Peasant Girl', recorded with the Matthew Barley Ensemble at Abbey Road Studios. The programme discovers the reasons behind the project and includes performances of various tracks as well as footage of the musicians interacting between sessions.

Ulf Schirmer conducts the Wiener Symphoniker in this production of Giordano's opera staged at the Bregenz Festival in 2011. Chénier is a French revolutionary poet who pines for the beautiful Maddalena. However, he has a jealous rival in the form of servant-turned-revolutionary Gérard, who sets about plotting Chénier's downfall. Performers include Héctor Sandoval, Norma Fantini, Scott Hendricks and Tania Kross.

Live performance of modern composer Roger Reynold's piece 'Sanctuary'. A challenging and adaptable composition, 'Sanctuary' is performed by percussionist Steven Schick and his band Red Fish Blue Fish. Three different versions of the performance are available on the release: a studio version filmed to maximise sound and visual quality for viewers, a complete live performance from Washington DC's National Gallery of Art and excerpts from a special outdoor performance at The Salk Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
