The programme discovers the reasons behind the project and includes performances of various tracks as well as footage of the musicians interacting between sessions.

Chénier is a French revolutionary poet who pines for the beautiful Maddalena. However, he has a jealous rival in the form of servant-turned-revolutionary Gérard, who sets about plotting Chénier's downfall. A challenging and adaptable composition, 'Sanctuary' is performed by percussionist Steven Schick and his band Red Fish Blue Fish. Three different versions of the performance are available on the release: a studio version filmed to maximise sound and visual quality for viewers, a complete live performance from Washington DC's National Gallery of Art and excerpts from a special outdoor performance at The Salk Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
