After his debut with Boosting the Underachiever: How Busy Parents Can Unlock Their Child's Potential, Dr Victor Cogen, this time, focuses his unique vision on inspiring the adolescent underachiever - a normal, healthy teenager who just isn't getting the grades he or she should. Here, Dr Cogen tackles the intricacies of the adolescent mind. His innovative approach goes beyond the stereotypical views of the teenage personality and teaches parents how they can personally take advantage of their adolescent's developing cognitive and emotional abilities. Adolescents are trapped between a world of fantasy created to help them escape from failure, and a growing need to become part of the real world of adults. This book explains how to appeal to the developing and sensitive people these children are becoming and discover the source of their poor scholastic records.

Foundational Teaching on Discerning What Is Happening in the Spiritual Realm For many believers, operating in the gifts of the Spirit has become a normal way of life. Yet there is one often-overlooked, often-misunderstood gift crucial to the well-being of the church: the gift of discerning spirits. This gift is the powerful supernatural ability to hear and see into the spiritual realm, yet many people who have it may think they are crazy. Finding no help from the church, some have turned to medical doctors and actually been diagnosed with a mental disorder. Jennifer Eivaz, a trusted prophetic voice, has been there, and she offers hope, healing, and practical help. Pulling back the veil, she * lays a biblical foundation for how this gift works * helps you discern what you are seeing and hearing * reveals what is happening in the spiritual realm * provides insight into the demonic, the angelic, and spiritual happenings * and more. The enemy is on the move. More than ever, the church needs people who operate in this powerful gift to expose hidden threats and help lead the church to victory.
We live in a sexually mad world where God's gift of sex has been
distorted through pornography, promiscuity, prostitution, abuse,
trafficking, and rape. The church's position on sexual matters has
been made clear throughout history: all sexual activity outside the
boundaries of Christian marriage is sin. But rarely has the church
honestly addressed the true needs of Christians who are struggling
with sexual desires they believe to be counter to the Bible. So we
hide our struggles and pretend to live above the erotic fray, or
else we cozy up to the culture's redefinition of which sins are
acceptable. But what does the Bible really say about sexual desire
and sexual intimacy?
With increasing interest from donors and board members to see faith-based, missional organizations reflect the diversity of God's kingdom, these organizations desire to have women in positions of leadership. However, this proves difficult when the organizational culture is one that silences and even penalizes the unique giftings that women bring to the table. Many organizations still lack the ability to embody a new culture-what Beth Birmingham and Eeva Simard call a belonging culture. Such a culture is one where all employees are secure and recognized, where leaders seek productivity and connectivity, and where the organization is committed to supporting a diverse community of employees. Creating Cultures of Belonging offers solutions for leadership teams, board members, and managers that reshape organizational culture in ways that invite and celebrate gender equity. With practical steps to enhance mentorship opportunities, human resources practices, and management tactics, Beth and Eeva point a way forward by identifying the changes that need to be made to create a belonging culture.
The day Lacey Sturm planned to kill herself was the day her
grandmother forced her to go to church, a place Lacey thought was
filled with hypocrites, fakers, and simpletons. The screaming match
she had with her grandmother was the reason she went to church.
What she found there was the Reason she is alive today.
Mention history and some might struggle to stifle a yawn. But when presented as a narrative it can often be compelling reading. Stephen J. Nichols takes a key period in time, the Reformation, and presents its major players in a fresh way. From Martin Luther, a simple monk who wielded the mallet, to kings and queens, this book goes behind the scenes to uncover the human side of these larger-than-life Reformers. Along the way readers meet Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin, Kings Henry VIII and Edward VI, Lady Jane Grey, Anne Bradstreet, and many others. For those wanting to see history in its context, Nichols also provides a sampling of primary source materials. It is an engaging read that will remind readers of the foundational truths that can never be taken for granted by the church in any age. Includes numerous illustrations.
The author discusses police culture, agencies, and organization; the nature of criminals and how to control them; and the future of criminal justice. While he feels a well-functioning police system is necessary to combat crime, Bouza also sees the solution to the crime problem as closely linked to the improvement of the life of the underclass.
The authors discuss such topics as "impacts with asteroids, the greenhouse effect, nuclear winter, fringe catastrophism, supernovae and an assessment of risks." (New Scientist)
