This it the first technical reference book available on the PSoC,
and it offers the most comprehensive combination of technical data,
example code, and descriptive prose you ll find anywhere.
Today s control system designers face an ever-increasing need for
speed and accuracy in their system measurements and computations.
New design approaches using microcontrollers and DSP are emerging,
and designers must understand these new approaches, the tools
available, and how best to apply them.
In "A Digital Liberia, " Darren Wilkins, an accomplished ICT Professional with more than twelve years of experience in the field of ICT, describes the impact of information and communications technology on the future of Liberia. Emerging from a fourteen-year civil war and more than 150 years of underdevelopment, poverty, and illiteracy, Liberia is presently behind the curve with respect to modern and emerging technologies. Even so, "A Digital Liberia" addresses six critical sectors in which ICT can play an important role: education, government, finance, agriculture, security, and healthcare. Wilkins delineates technologies that will bring a shift in the paradigm in the Liberian society and identifies broadband through submarine fiber optic cables located in and around Africa, along with pointing out open source, green IT, cloud computing, and mobile technologies as those technologies that enable Liberia to enter the Digital Economy. "A Digital Liberia, " one of the most optimistic approaches to a developing country's technology, represents an unprecedented effort by an African-born author to outline plan for technological development in Liberia.
This unique, new book covers the whole field of electronic warfare modeling and simulation at a systems level, including chapters that describe basic electronic warfare (EW) concepts. Written by a well-known expert in the field with more than 24 years of experience, the book explores EW applications and techniques and the radio frequency spectrum. A detailed resource for entry-level engineering personnel in EW, military personnel with no radio or communications engineering background, technicians and software professionals, the work explains the basic concepts required for modeling and simulation that today's professionals need to understand. Practitioners find clear explanations of important mathematical concepts, such as decibel notation and spherical trigonometry, necessary for modeling and simulation. Moreover, the book describes specific types of EW equipment, how they work and how each is mathematically modeled.
Automation techniques are meant to facilitate the delivery of flexible, agile, customized connectivity services regardless of the nature of the networking environment. New architectures combine advanced forwarding and routing schemes, mobility features, and customer-adapted resource facilities used for operation and delivery of services. Emerging Automation Techniques for the Future Internet is a collection of innovative research on the methods and applications of new architectures for the planning, dynamic delivery, and operation of services with a particular focus on automated detection and mitigation of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. While highlighting topics including policy enforcement, self-architectures, and automated networks, this book is ideally designed for engineers, IT consultants, professionals, researchers, academicians, and students seeking current research on techniques and structures used to enhance experience and services rendered.
This book provides an insight into recent technological trends and innovations in solutions and platforms to improve mobility of visually impaired people. The authors' goal is to help to contribute to the social and societal inclusion of the visually impaired. The book's topics include, but are not limited to, obstacle detection systems, indoor and outdoor navigation, transportation sustainability systems, and hardware/devices to aid visually impaired people. The book has a strong focus on practical applications tested in a real environment. Applications include city halls, municipalities, and companies that must keep up to date with recent trends in platforms, methodologies and technologies to promote urban mobility. Also discuss are broader realms including education, health, electronics, tourism, and transportation. Contributors include a variety of researchers and practitioners around the world.
In this practical guide, experienced embedded engineer Lewin
Edwards demonstrates faster, lower-cost methods for developing
high-end embedded systems. With today's tight schedules and lower
budgets, embedded designers are under greater pressure to deliver
prototypes and system designs faster and cheaper. Edwards
demonstrates how the use of the right tools and operating systems
can make seemingly impossible deadlines possible.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) antennas are on the cutting edge of contemporary wireless development and are of great interest to engineers working in the areas of antenna and RF (radio frequency) system design because of the significant performance benefits associated with UWB technology. This comprehensive treatment of UWB antennas serves as an invaluable practical reference for professionals, enabling them to select the proper UWB antennas for their applications, design and analyze UWB antennas, and integrate these antennas in an RF system. Engineers find a concise discussion on UWB antenna characteristics that allows them to quickly and correctly apply them to their projects without being bogged down by unnecessary theory. What's more, the book includes a complete overview of the history and development of UWB antennas, helping practitioners to build and improve existing designs rather than reinventing them.
MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology makes possible the production of miniature devices and systems that stand to revolutionize industrial, optical, medical and electronic markets. Thousands of practitioners and students have gained a solid understanding of MEMS with the best-selling first edition of this book. Now in its second edition, An Introduction to Microelectromechanical Systems Engineering brings readers to up-to-date with the latest developments in this cutting-edge area. Featuring brand new coverage of today's hottest topics, such as RF MEMS and photonic MEMS, this thoroughly revised resource shows engineers, technical managers, and executives how their projects may benefit from a MEMS solution.
Everyone is familiar with the amazing performance of a modern laptop, powered by more than a billion nanotransistors, each having an active region that is barely a few hundred atoms long. These lectures, however, are about a less-appreciated by-product of the microelectronics revolution, namely the deeper understanding of current flow, energy exchange and device operation that it has enabled, which forms the basis for what we call the bottom-up approach. The book assumes very little background beyond linear algebra and differential equations, and is intended to be accessible to anyone in any branch of science or engineering. These lectures represent our attempt to make these lessons broadly accessible to those who are not experts in device physics or transport theory, and would like to keep it that way. At the same time, we hope the experts too will enjoy taking a fresh new look at their favorite subject, emphasizing fundamental insights of general validity.
With growing developments in artificial intelligence and focus on swarm behaviours; algorithms have been utilised in solving a variety of problems in the field of engineering. This approach has been specifically suited to face the challenges in electric and electronic engineering. Swarm Intelligence for Electric and Electronic Engineering provides an exchange of knowledge on the advances, discoveries, and improvements of swarm intelligence in electric and electronic engineering. This comprehensive collection aims to bring together new swarm-based algorithms as well as approaches to complex problems and various real-world applications.
A practical guide for today's wireless engineer
Since overall circuit performance has depended primarily on transistor properties, previous efforts to enhance circuit and system speed were focused on transistors as well. During the last decade, however, the parasitic resistance, capacitance, and inductance associated with interconnections began to influence circuit performance and will be the primary factors in the evolution of nanoscale ULSI technology. Because metallic conductivity and resistance to electromigration of bulk copper (Cu) are better than aluminum, use of copper and low-k materials is now prevalent in the international microelectronics industry. As the feature size of the Cu-lines forming interconnects is scaled, resistivity of the lines increases. At the same time electromigration and stress-induced voids due to increased current density become significant reliability issues. Although copper/low-k technology has become fairly mature, there is no single book available on the promise and challenges of these next-generation technologies. In this book, a leader in the field describes advanced laser systems with lower radiation wavelengths, photolithography materials, and mathematical modeling approaches to address the challenges of Cu-interconnect technology.
Nanowires for Energy Applications, Volume 98, covers the latest breakthrough research and exciting developments in nanowires for energy applications.
