One of the most distinctive and interesting eras in hot rodding was
the early '60s, when Gasser-class and altered wheelbase machines
were changing the definition of what a hot rod was. Eventually, the
altered wheelbase machines gave rise to the Funny Car, but before
they did, they left a permanent mark on the history of drag racing.
In How to Build Altered Wheelbase Cars, renowned writer Steve
Magnante first walks readers through the colorful history of the
altered wheelbase period and then shows them how to perform these
radical modifications themselves. Magnante's fun and colorful style
makes for entertaining reading, and the coverage of floorpan mods,
chassis alterations, and both front and rear suspension upgrades
are covered in great detail on three different chassis types. After
reading this book, the basic technical tenets of altering vehicle
wheelbase will be understood and the almost mythical legend
surrounding such cars will be fully realized. What were once
considered race only modifications can now be civilized for street
use, and Magnante carefully reviews all of the relevant points for
optimal appearance, performance, and safety. The techniques and
processes detailed between the covers of How to Build Altered
Wheelbase Cars have been proven on Magnante's own personal
vehicles, and after his many street miles and drag strip passes,
readers can rely on Steve's advice. With plenty of historical
images for reference and clear step-by-step how-to photos, you can
build your own altered-wheelbase car for fun on the street or the
strip.

overdrive. Specific models include the PV444, PV544 (P110), P1800,
PV445, and P122 (P120 & Amazon). However, as the same driveline
was used for the P210, P130, P220,144,142 and 145 through the 1968
model year much of the data is also applicable to these models.
Measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches, with 464 pages and 438 illustrations,
charts and specifications it would be difficult to imagine that a
more complete manual exists for these early Volvo automobiles.
Originally published by Floyd Clymer this is a faithful
reproduction of the 1964 publication. It includes complete
technical data, service and maintenance information and
comprehensive detailed instructions for the repair and overhaul of
all major and minor mechanical and electrical components, making it
an invaluable resource for collectors and restorers of these
classic automobiles. There are separate sections that deal with the
repair and overhaul procedures for the engine, fuel system,
carburetors, ignition system, clutch, transmission, overdrive,
drive shaft, rear axle, suspension, steering and brakes, plus a
detailed electrical section including wiring diagrams. There is a
comprehensive chapter on routine service, maintenance and tune ups
that also includes detailed specification charts. Out-of-print and
unavailable for many years and becoming increasingly more difficult
to find on the secondary market this is a - must have - reference
for this series of Volvo automobiles and we are pleased to be able
to offer this reproduction as a service to all Volvo enthusiasts
worldwide.
The two decades between 1945 and 1965 saw some remarkable motor
cars emerge from the new Rolls-Royce factory at Crewe. The Mark VI
Bentley was the first model to be built entirely by Rolls-Royce,
using a body supplied by Pressed Steel, although coachbuilt cars
were still available. The Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn version followed
in 1949, this and its Bentley sister both receiving 'big boot'
bodies in 1952. Meanwhile the 120mph Continental appeared. The
entirely new Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and Bentley S-series, almost
identical to each other, arrived in 1955, and from 1959 a V8 was
installed. By their side, coachbuilt S-series Continentals
continued. Original Rolls-Royce & Bentley 1946-65 is the
essential companion to these cars. The aim of this book is to
reveal, in words and color photographs, how the various models
altered through the course of production. Drawing on factory
records, parts lists, catalogs and other data, the author has
provided a meticulous survey of the standard steel cars built at
Crewe. Over 250 specially commissioned color photographs, showing
the detail changes to these cars, accompany the authoritative text.
Small-block Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge V-8 engines came in a
variety of vehicles since 1964. These powerful, durable engines

descriptive text to teach readers the complete rebuild process from
removal to break-in.
This book describes ways to increase the performance and
efficiency of your small-block Mopar, and also point s out the
unique steps required for LA and Magnum versions of the engine.
Topics covered include removal, tear down, inspection, selecting
parts, machine-shop work, and assembly. Special sidebars cover
torque sequences, cc-ing heads, calculating compression ratio, and
painting engine parts. The photos in this edition are black and
white.

At one time, if you wanted big horsepower in your Mopar muscle car
or truck, your choices were limited to a big-block swap or a
coveted Hemi. At the very least, you needed different engine
mounts, K-members, transmissions, headers, etc. -- and Hemis have
never been cheap But now there's another way to get more
horsepower: boring and stroking your Mopar small-block to get more
cubic inches - up to 476 cubes The small-block Mopar is one of the
easiest engines in which to increase displacement without extensive
modifications or specialized machine work -- the engine was
practically designed for more cubes This book shows you how to get
that big-cube power, and then it shows you how to optimize the
small-block's other systems -- induction, heads, valvetrain,
ignition, exhaust, and more -- to make the most of the extra cubic
inches.Author Jim Szilagyi is a Performance Specialist for Dodge
Motorsports and Mopar Performance Parts. In this book he covers
building big-inchers from Mopar 318/340/360-ci LA or Magnum
5.2/5.9-liter engines, using both factory and aftermarket parts. If
you want to make big power from your Mopar small-block, this is the
book for you. The photos in this edition are black and white.

When the '96 Mustang came out with the 4.6-liter V-8, some
performance enthusiasts were scared away by its technology. But
those days are long gone. Ford added horsepower and torque to its
2- and 4-valve V-8s over the years, and the number and quality of
available aftermarket performance parts has exploded. Ford took
things to the next level with the new 3-valve Mustang GT engine,
the 5.4-liter GT and the Shelby GT500, adding even more
high-performance options. In this updated edition of How To Build
Max-Performance 4.6-Liter Ford Engines, Sean Hyland gives you a
comprehensive guide to building and modifying Ford's 2-, 3-, and
4-valve 4.6- and 5.4-liter engines. You will learn everything from
block selection and crankshaft prep, to cylinder head and intake
manifold modifications. He also outlines eight recommended power
packages and provides you with a step-by-step buildup of a
naturally aspirated 405-horsepower Cobra engine. This is the
definitive guide to getting the most from your 4.6- and 5.4-liter
Ford.
This manual is aimed at owners and enthusiasts of the legendary
Norton Commando, and covers all areas of restoration from the
sourcing of the bike to its completion as a fully restored machine.
Starting with advice on the different models, spares availability
and where best to source a bike to restore, the book then covers
the complete dismantling and restoration of the bike. Describing
the engine, frame, gearbox, wheels, suspension and forks, brakes,
ancillaries, bodywork, and electrics, the text is illustrated with
hundreds of clear colour photos. What really sets this manual apart
is the style in which it is written: not as some dull and distant
workshop manual but in a friendly, humorous manner by an enthusiast
of many years who is able to involve and entertain the reader, as
well as providing a thorough and detailed restoration guide. This
is the third motorcycle restoration guide from an author whose
previous works have been a massive hit with mechanics, enthusiasts
and restorers throughout the world.
