In Good Hands: A Guide to Seeking and Receiving Massage is written by an experienced massage therapist whose back problems led her to massage. Understanding and relief of her pain through massage inspired her to do the same for others. Since then Debra Ty has pursued a career giving and teaching massage in several arenas. She guides you, the newcomer or seasoned recipient through all phases of seeking and receiving massage, beginning with finding the best match for therapist and recipient, various types of massage; their benefits and cautions, the numerous environments in which massage is offered, how best to receive a massage by asking for what you need, how to give good feedback to assure your needs are met, relaxing into the support and trust of your therapist, post massage care, tipping, and how often to receive massage. Massage experiences and needs are as vast and variable as the body, mind, emotions, and soul; these experiences invite you to explore quiet and stillness, safety, trust, and intimacy. Massage can be used to relax and rid tension, or to be an active part of the process bringing awareness and understanding through massage--revelations of willing men and women who receive massage as a way to bring balance in their lives and find support for their stresses and ailments. Indeed, the insights you gain through massage need not stop in the massage room but can continue on as a lifestyle. May the words in this book guide you to peace within and peace in your world. Foreword by Carole Osborne

My goal in writing this book on spinal cord injured true case histories and documented since year 1984, is to inform the quadriplegic and paraplegic that they can be helped presently, and it is not as hopeless as they are told. I have made a breakthrough with a paraplegic T10, in year 1984, who was told that there is no more help for him, after several years of therapy, and in only 10 hourly sessions, I had him stand up from the wheelchair and walk with my "hands on" method and technique. 1987, I worked on a quadriplegic C5-C6 and in several months he improved with his walking and reduced the spasticity in the body and legs. 1991, I worked with a paraplegic T5, whose legs were spastic and crippled after several years of no help from the previous therapy and in only several months I has him stand on his feet, and corrected the crippling. 1998, I worked on a quadriplegic complete C4-C5, and restored his spastic arms and hands, and he was able to do his homework at school. All of these spinal cord injured were told that there is no more help. I believe that many disabled people are mislead, as the above, including stroke, Parkinson, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS.Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Scleros. As a Florida State Licensed Massage Therapist for over 25 years, and a member of The American Massage Therapy Association, Member Of The Florida State Message Therapy Association Lic# MA 000 3352 I have treated people disabled with spinal cord injury after the conventional therapy was of no help, and continues till present day. "Spinal Cord Injury" is a physical injury to the spinal cord, and is due to most often to an accident, and can be treated with my "hands on" METHOD AND TECHINIQUE till present day, Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Method.

The human body is a network of nerves and pressure points. In many cultures it is well known that manipulating these pressure points can bring stress relief, relaxation and, as we shall see, delight. As a teenager, Vittorio Mosca discovered that using the fingernails to lightly scratch various parts of the body was an extremely effective method for such massage. Since this discovery of what he calls 'grattini', he has applied this method throughout his life and used it as a means of enhancing loving relationships. In this personal account, grattini is discussed in detail, including a tracing of its historical roots and three short stories demonstrating how grattini can be used. Thanks to grattini, happiness is literally to hand!
