This classic French paper has a mottled texture on one side and a flat surface on the other, both equally suitable for pastel, oil pastel, charcoal, chalk, pencil, watercolor, and acrylic. It is a heavyweight paper with a high cotton rag content (66%) to ensure long life without deterioration. All tones are made up of delicate shade gradients, tending towards white.Their comfortable handling and large contact surface allow large areas to be covered with a high degree of regularity.

This high tooth texture pastel card is made from a thin layer of finely ground vegetable fibres (fine cork particles) which gives a velvety grain surface and decreases the need for fixative. Surface sheet, backing board & adhesives are acid free but are not neccesarily lightfast.

The pastels are made in Northumberland and contain only pure pigments in a cycle of related hues, instead of adding white or black to the colours. The result is intense, vibrant colour not muddied by the blending of colours.

Unison's pastels contain very little binder, making them truly soft and smooth. They are mixed to meticulous recipes and are based on traditional pigments such as cadmiums, cobalts and natural and synthetic earths.

Pastels measure approximately 2-1/8" long × 5/8" diameter (54 mm × 16 mm). Sticks vary slightly due to the hand-making process.
