James Maloney's life began with abuse, rejection and fear. His is an all-too-typical story of an unwanted baby who became suicidal at the age of fourteen. But all of that changed New Year's Day 1971, when in a moment of greatest despair, James cried out for an answer: "God, if You're really real, You're going to have to reveal Yourself to me, because I can't take this anymore " The Lord Jesus Christ provided that answer, appearing to the teenager in a cloud of glory, two outstretched hands reaching for the tormented youth, with the most magnificent words ever uttered: "I have heard your cry for acceptance. I have heard your cry for reality, and I love you just the way that you are." Nearly forty years later, the result of that dynamic encounter is The Dancing Hand of God. More than an autobiography, this book is a manual to equip the people of God with an apostolic spirit, dispelling the world's misconceptions of our Father through the release of the miraculous. It deals with some of the hindrances people face, including isolation, fear and sin. It is a book on the supernatural coupled with practical information on the function of the apostle to operate in signs, wonders and mighty deeds with all perseverance. The Dancing Hand of God describes one man's intense desire to see the manifest presence of Jesus Christ, the release of the Spirit, and how he believes an encounter with the Father is just what every person needs "I need books like The Dancing Hand of God... I pray that as you read this book your heart will burn -- burn with new passion for God, burn with hunger for truth, and burn with desire for the authentic gospel that displays miracles, signs and wonders. The ingredients needed for such a fire exist on the pages of The Dancing Hand of God." -- Bill Johnson from the Foreword
Fighting against an addiction to pornography while trying his best to live as a Christian, Matthew Robert Payne is a sinner who has gone through a lot in his efforts to conquer the challenges that life throws at him. In his memoirs, he speaks of his battle to overcome the past and ensure that he will walk in his future in the grace of God. Yes, there are days when the darkness seems to be gaining ground, but he perseveres and keeps a tight hold to his faith. The enemy throws temptation after temptation in an attempt to keep him from fulfilling his destiny. He often finds himself doubting his ability to lead and be an example to others, but his belief in God is strong and he knows that God is beside him all the time. Matthew has lived through so much pain and suffering from the time he was a boy through his marriage and estrangement with his son and the abuse that he has to endure. Even his efforts to earn money and serve other people were fraught with trials. Whether its driving a taxi, washing dishes, serving coffee, talking to people and giving them hope and message from God, he tackles each task with the same dedication and love. He firmly believes that Jesus will hold his hand and guide him to the right path. His bipolar condition did not stop him from realizing his dreams as a writer and as a Christian. This autobiography will give you a chance to see the real person behind the author, the mistakes he made and how he corrected them will show you how a Christian is molded by his faith and how war can be waged and won against temptation even with the odds stacked against you. You will be inspired to find your life's purpose the same way he found his as a writer, using his gift of prophecy to connect with people and provide encouragement. Far from being a saint, he has the same struggles if not more than everyone else, but he reaches out and offers his gifts. This book will take your emotions on a roller coaster and will give you hope and strengthen your faith.
"FLY LIKE AN ANGEL" is a family story, a biography recounting the adventurous life that Buddy Fly has lived. On the surface, Buddy appears to be the ordinary man, but he has led an extraordinary life. Told by Buddy's grandniece, author Debbie Bewley, this is not only a fascinating life history; it is also a story about the joy and love that Jesus can bring to life and how that love can touch people in ways that can really make a difference. From a back-road farm in Selma, Mississippi, during the Great Depression to the killing grounds of Saipan in World War II to entanglement with the KKK in the 1960s to the miracle-laced life of modern days, Buddy Fly has touched hundreds of individuals with his com-passion, love, and mercy.
The authors recount how love survives a lifetime of strange and fascinating, hilarious and serious encounters with demons and angels warring over their souls from infancy to old age.
The real names have been changed to protect the guilty, and should the likeness of any character in this book appear to resemble any individual, it is purely intentional. Also I have deliberately embellished on certain factual accounts in the book, purely for effect. This book is being written, to let church-folk everywhere know, that you are not alone, and that the goings on at your local church are not isolated incidences, there is mess in every church, and my prayer is that you will stand fast, stay put, and put the devil on the run. There were no collaborators, no extensive research done, no accolades to give to anyone. This is one mans journey from faith to faith, through his own eyes. If the book is a failure, I take full responsibility, the failure is not in God, it's in me. I am simply saying what the spirit is saying to me, and through me; "Thus saith the Lord"
The narrative of the Lord's dealings with George M ller were a series of volumes that have blessed many. The present volume is a more manageable version edited by Rev. H. Lincoln Wayland. EDITOR'S PREFACE: Having been requested by Messrs. Gould and Lincoln to examine the work entitled "A Narrative of some of the Lord's Dealings with George M ller," the Editor was convinced that its republication in this country would greatly promote the piety of American Christians. But to reproduce the work in its original form was attended with difficulty. The "Narrative," in four parts, (published respectively in 1837, 1841, 1845, and 1856, ) and the four "Annual Reports" issued in 1857, 1858, 1859, and 1860, would occupy not less than eighteen hundred pages of the size of those contained in this volume. The cost of such a work would greatly limit its circulation and its usefulness, if indeed any publisher should undertake its issue. There seemed no alternative except to abandon the idea of an American edition altogether, or to present it to the public in a condensed form. Such a condensation seemed, on examination, to be entirely practicable. Owing to the "Parts" of the "Narrative" having been published at four separate periods, it often happens that the same matter is several times repeated. A large portion of the space is occupied with the acknowledgment of donations received. These entries, although appropriate in a report made to the donors and to the British public, have not the same interest for American readers. The discussion of some points in church polity, and the account of the Author's journeys upon the Continent, though interesting and instructive, are not necessary to the continuity of the history. Although in some cases the portions which have been omitted cover a considerable period of time, yet it is believed that all which is essential has been retained. No pains have been spared on the part of the Editor to preserve the value of the work while reducing its compass, and to give, in a form universally accessible, a clear exhibition of the wonderful results of the life of George M ller, as well as of the principles by which his life has been governed. Believing that the book would be rendered more attractive to the reader, and more convenient for reference, the Editor has divided it into Chapters, and has prefixed to each a brief statement of some of the leading subjects introduced in the Chapter. For these "contents," as well as for the headings of the Chapters, and for the general title of the volume, the Editor alone is responsible. The "Narrative" of George M ller has been blessed in other lands to the awakening of spiritual life. It was the means, as will be observed by the reader, of greatly forwarding, if not of originating, the work of grace now advancing in Ireland. "The Life of Trust" is submitted to the Christian public of America, in the hope that its still small voice may be heard even amid the clangor of political strife and the revulsion of commercial interests, and that it may be used by the Divine Spirit to promote and strengthen in the hearts of American Christians, Faith in the Living God.
I am a six-year breast cancer survivor. I am very happy about this fact, because I was given an opportunity to write about that experience. This is a chronological and personal testimony of my fight against this devastating disease. This book strives to encourage and invite readers, whether in perfect health or stricken by illness, to trust God in all situations. My journey with breast cancer was a test of my faith in God. Through my own struggle, I remind readers that life is going to be filled with difficult and sometimes life-changing situations when our faith is tested. At these crucial times, it is our test to decide how we will respond. Find out how I responded, and then get ready to be introduced or re-introduced to someone who cares about every situation you will encounter.
We love that we don't have to live an average life. Living as God's children is every bit an adventure One highlight was when my husband became a self-employed daddy. A long period ensued without income, a mortgage, bills, and God. But, God was enough. The miracles began-including divine money deposits-and we never paid a bill late In fact, God has continued to bless our lives as we put Him first. He taught us about commandments, tithing, and attitudes. He usurped the doctor's plan to remove gills from our baby, guided us away from professional boxing, showed us what marriage and parenting are really about, demonstrated the power in Jesus' blood, and much more. It's a great blessing to have these wonderful memories. I have no doubt He craves an intimate relationship with you, too. Remember, God loves you-right now-and wants to do great things through you "I would highly recommend this book to anyone that feels there is no hope in their lives or just to help them find their own paths." -Sue, Mullan, Idaho (excerpt from the foreword) "Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us. It has encouraged us to keep faith during our trial." -Bill and Cheryl, Mayo Clinic, Arizona "Remember is an amazing story that increases your faith in God's love, His provisions, and His blessings for your life " -Sharon, St. Maries, Idaho
Pathways, Leigh and Carol Adams' autobiography, tells of how God led them to meet and merge their lives for the furtherance of the gospel. Pathways is based on James Fenimore Cooper's novel, The Pathfinder. As a youth, Leigh enjoyed treks on Pathfinder Island in search of Indian artifacts. Leigh and Carol invite you to walk with them along the various pathways of life's journey-education, marriage and the call to ministry. During their fifty-five years as missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions, they served in Quebec (French Canada) and on college and university campus ministries. Later, Leigh was appointed North America Field Director and Vice President. It is exciting to read how God led them, by faith, to push open closed doors in order to obey the Great Commission, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15). A United States Senator from which state said, "Do not let the forces of evil take over to make this a Christian America?" What is the meaning of the sign "PAIN" in the window of a Quebec home? Does God have blue eyes? How is it possible to distribute tracts while surfing? What was the reply of Notre Dame University's vice president when Leigh requested permission to have Bible studies on campus?
Did Jesus exist? In recent years there has been a massive upsurge in public discussion of the view that Jesus did not exist. This view first found a voice in the 19th century, when Christian views were no longer taken for granted. Some way into the 20th century, this school of thought was largely thought to have been utterly refuted by the results of respectable critical scholarship (from both secular and religious scholars). Now, many unprofessional scholars and bloggers ('mythicists'), are gaining an increasingly large following for a view many think to be unsupportable. It is starting to influence the academy, more than that it is starting to influence the views of the public about a crucial historical figure. Maurice Casey, one of the most important Historical Jesus scholars of his generation takes the 'mythicists' to task in this landmark publication. Casey argues neither from a religious respective, nor from that of a committed atheist. Rather he seeks to provide a clear view of what can be said about Jesus, and of what can't.
