Two more adventures from the Doctor Who television series. In 'The Rescue' the Doctor lands on Planet Dido in the year 2493. He finds two human survivors from a ferocious Didonian attack, and must discover the motivation behind this violence. In 'The Romans' the Doctor lands in Italy 64 A.D., but his intention to have a holiday is destroyed when he is mistakenly identified as a murderer.

The first story from the final season of Sylvester McCoy's tenure as the Doctor. The Doctor and Ace arrive on Earth in the late 1990s where they become involved in a battle between King Arthur and Morgaine. However, these are not the heroes of Britain's past but warriors from another dimension - and they recognise the Doctor as the wizard Merlin. As usual it is down to the Doctor and Ace to save the planet, but this time they find some help in the guise of the Doctor's old UNIT ally, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.

The longest 'Doctor Who' story ever. The Doctor (Colin Baker) is put on trial by his people the Time Lords for interference in the affairs of others; three segments of his past and future are presented as evidence. 'The Mysterious Planet' shows the Doctor and Peri (Nicola Bryant) in a battle with a megalomaniac machine on the planet Ravalox, but what are the mysterious 'secrets' it protects? 'Mindwarp' shows the Doctor apparently betraying Peri to the vile Sil (Nabil Shaban) and the Mentors - can the Matrix be falsifying the evidence against the Doctor? In his defence he presents 'Terror of the Vervoids', a future story where the Earth is threatened by evil plant life forms. In the final two episodes, 'The Ultimate Foe', the Doctor learns the truth about his prosecuting counsel, the Valeyard (Michael Jayston), and has to enter the Matrix to battle for his remaining lives. This was Colin Baker's last story as the Doctor.

Two episodes from the Tom Baker era 'Doctor Who', devoted to the Doctor's favourite metallic pooch - K9. In 'The Invisible Enemy', a mysterious cloud is causing havoc in space, infecting all those who pass through it with an intelligent virus which could spread throughout the whole galaxy. The Doctor (Baker) and Leela (Louise Jameson) try to come to the rescue, but the TARDIS passes through the cloud itself, leaving the Doctor infected with the virus. He and Leela then try to find help at a nearby medical station, where they meet the eccentric Professor Marius and his pet robot K-9. In 'K9 and Company', the pilot from the 'Doctor Who' spin-off series, the Doctor's former companion, Sarah-Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), arrives to take up residence with her Aunt Lavinia at the village of Moreton. She finds the house deserted apart from a crate marked for her attention, which turns out to contain a gift from the Time Lord: K9 Mark 3. The mechanical dog teams up with Sarah to investigate Aunt Lavinia's disappearance, and together they unearth evidence of witchcraft.

We begin our journey in a prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leap millennia (via one of the most mind-blowing jump cuts ever conceived) into colonized space, and ultimately witness astronaut Bowman (Keir Dullea) being whisked into uncharted realms of space, perhaps even into immortality.

Three feature-length Doctor Who adventures. In 'Doctor Who and the Silurians' (1970), Jon Pertwee stars as the third Doctor, who is called to an atomic research station in Derbyshire to investigate a series of mysterious events. His questions uncover a vicious ring of in-house saboteurs and something a bit more slimy. In 'The Sea Devils' (1972), after visiting their old enemy the Master (Roger Delgado) in his remote island prison, the Doctor (Pertwee) and Jo learn of several recent accidents at sea, all of which have been accompanied by reported sightings of strange monsters. The Doctor discovers that the creatures responsible are the Sea Devils, acquatic cousins of the Silurians who are out to reclaim the planet Earth from mankind. In 'Warriors of the Deep' (1983), The Doctor (Peter Davison), Tegan and Turlough arrive at an underwater base on an Earth in the future on the brink of Atomic War. Helping to trigger this war are the planet's original inhabitants, the Silurians and the Sea Devils, aided by their killer pantomime horse, the Myrka.

The Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation center in the 23rd century, as humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan.

The Doctor is on a mission, travelling back to the middle ages to locate some missing scientists. He is, however, seriously inconvenienced when he meets a Sontaran warrior. Jon Pertwee stars.

Another adventure for the sixth incarnation of the intrepid time traveller. The Doctor (Colin Baker) and Peri arrive on the planet Necros to pay their last respects to deceased agronomist Arthur Stengos. They discover that his final resting place - Tranquil Repose - is in fact a front for a Dalek farm run by the Great Healer, who turns out to be none other than the Doctor's old foe, Davros.

Double episode Doctor Who adventure set on the planet Karfel and in nineteenth century Scotland. The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) and Peri, accompanied by a young man named Herbert, become entangled with the machinations of the despotic Borad. Planet Karfel consists of a small population ruled by a despotic, Wizard of Oz-like autocrat called The Borad. The Borad has never been seen in the flesh - only by means of closed-circuit television monitors wherein he appears a somber, upright old man. His rule of fear is enforced rigidly by an army of androids who destroy all dissent in a blink via the Timelash - an instant and irreversible exile to another, presumably horrific dimension. One member of the grand counsel immediately below The Borad, (called the Maylin) is less than happy with The Borad and seeks 'regime change' at any cost. A race of former allies called The Bandril sees weakness and opportunity in The Borad's semi-visible ruling methods and is set to invade. It is into this volatile situation that the Tardis materializes and our favourite time travelers are cast.

Tom Baker stars as the enigmatic Time Lord in this classic two-part adventure. Arriving on a seemingly deserted Earth, the Doctor, Sarah (Elisabeth Sladen) and Harry (Ian Marter) soon discover a crew of shipwrecked astronauts from a distant Earth colony. Lured there by a fake distress call, the astronauts are being experimented on by the deadly Sontarans in preparation of a full-scale invasion of the planet. Can the Doctor defeat Sontaran Field-Marshall Styre (Kevin Lindsay) and save the world?

The Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) and Ace arrive in England towards the end of the Second World War. At a secret naval base, Dr Judson has built a machine capable of breaking German cyphers, but the machine is in fact used to translate ancient runes and summon up Fenric, an evil creature from the dawn of time. Includes material not shown on the original broadcast.

The Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie arrive at space station J7 to ask the Doctor's old friend Dastari to cease his experiments in time travel. The station is invaded, and when Doctor number 6 (Colin Baker) and Peri arrive, they find a shell-shocked Jamie claiming that the Doctor has been killed. It is in fact all part of a Sontaran plot to discover the secrets of time travel, which necessitates a trip to Seville to rescue the earlier incarnation of the Time Lord. Patrick Troughton's last appearance as the Doctor.

Romantic sci-fi feature starring Asa Butterfield as a teenager raised on Mars who decides to return to Earth. 16-year-old Gardner Elliot (Butterfield) was the first human born on Mars and spent all of his childhood on the planet with scientists after his mother died in childbirth. After befriending a girl named Tulsa (Britt Robertson) online, Gardner travels to his home planet to experience all that he's read about and missed out on for all of his lonely childhood. Desperate for human connection, Gardner escapes his guardians on Earth, who are tasked with monitoring him, and embarks on an adventure across the US with his fellow orphan, Tulsa, in search of his unknown father. However, the wonder of discovering the world for the first time is short-lived as scientists discover his body can't withstand Earth's gravity.

Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos.

Under the tutelage of inebriated former champion Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Katniss goes into training for the fight of her life.

A group of medics (Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, William Redfield, Arthur Kennedy and Donald Pleasence) and a submarine are miniaturised and injected into the bloodstream of a top Czech scientist, who was shot while defecting, in order to carry out delicate, life-saving surgery. Travelling though his body is hazardous, but far more dangerous is the suspicion that one of them is a traitor. They race against time to perform the surgery and escape from the body before they return to their full size. The film won Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.

Four of the big-screen 'Star Trek' spin-offs featuring the crew of 'The Next Generation'. In 'Generations' (1994), Captain James T Kirk (William Shatner) reluctantly comes out of retirement to attend the launch of the 'Enterprise B'. When the ship attempts to rescue two cargo ships trapped in a strange electrical field, part of its structure is shorn away - taking Kirk with it.

78 years later, 'Enterprise D' captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) is mourning the deaths of his brother and nephew when he is called to investigate an attack on the Amagosa Observatory. The culprits turn out to be Picard's old adversaries, renegade Klingons Lursa and B'Etor, allied with sinister El Aurian scientist Dr Soran (Malcolm McDowell). Soran was amongst those rescued by the 'Enterprise B', and is now desperate to return to the energy field - called the Nexus - which claimed Kirk's life. When Picard himself enters the Nexus, a historic encounter results. In 'First Contact' (1996), Captain Jean-Luc Picard, once assimilated by the alien Borg, now senses that they are about to return. He is proved correct when the Collective engages the Enterprise E in battle, only to escape through a temporal vortex into the Earth's past. Picard and his crew glimpse an alternative Earth which is dominated by the Borg and, in an attempt to find out how the Borg have altered the timeline, follow them back to the year 2063, one day before Zefram Cochran (James Cromwell) made the first warp drive journey. It was this event that attracted the attention of some passing Vulcans and established Earth's 'first contact' with alien life. While Riker (Jonathan Frakes) leads an away team to prevent the Borg from tampering with the Earth's history, Picard must repel a Borg invasion of the Enterprise.

In 'Insurrection' (1998), a Federation team are unobtrusively observing life on the remarkable world of Ba'ku, where 600 peaceful inhabitants enjoy the planet's youth-preserving qualities. However, forces within the alliance want to repatriate the population so that the planet's resources can be exploited more intensively. Captain Jean-Luc Picard leads his crew in an effort to protect Ba'ku's residents and thereby honour the Federation's Prime Directive: non-intervention in the development of other civilisations.

'Nemesis' (2002) is the tenth instalment in the 'Star Trek' film series. When Picard and the crew discover a disassembled prototype of their android colleague Data (Brent Spiner) on a distant planet, they take the parts back to the Enterprise and attempt to put them back together. Meanwhile, news arrives that the new Romulan leader Shinzon (Tom Hardy) wants to restore relations with the United Federation of Planets and Picard is sent to negotiate. When Picard arrives, he uncovers a shocking truth about Shinzon's connection to himself, and unearths a sinister plot to destroy the Earth.
