Originally published in 1952, as part of the Cambridge Monographs
on Physics series, this book was developed to provide a survey of
experiments in nuclear physics. It constitutes an attempt to
discover how far it is possible to come near to an understanding of
the stability properties of nuclei in their lowest states. The text
was written by the renowned nuclear physicist Norman Feather
(1904-78). The book will be of value to anyone with an interest in
nuclear physics and the history of science.
