Recent archeological and linguistic evidence reveals that the Jews of the New Testament era spoke Hebrew, not Greek as has been taught for so many years. This work is on a language which is often called "Chamba-Daka" to distinguish it from a very different language, Chamba-Leko. The speakers of these two languages share an ethnic identity. The name Chamba Daka does not designate a homogenous linguistic unit, but rather a set of dialects whose exact degree of diversity has not yet been precisely determined in every case. Chamba Leko speakers are restricted to the easternmost part of the central area, for the most part on the Cameroon part of the modern border. The remainder of the Chamba are Daka-speaking. Lhukonzo is spoken by a large number of people in Uganda and Congo. This pioneering dictionary is intended for those wishing to learn and use either Lhukonzo or Enlish. It gives the basic vocabulary of words commonly used in speaking or writing about everyday subjects; and most words are therefore of a non-specialist character.
