Differential Diagnosis of Neuromusculoskeletal Disorders is a
pocket-sized handbook designed to provide the chiropractic
physician, intern, and student with a quick reference manual for
differential diagnosis. The topics covered encompass most of the
syndromes seen in everyday chiropractic cases involving neurology,
orthopaedics, and diagnostic imaging.
The Fascial Distortion Model (FDM) was introduced by the American
physician Stephen Typaldos (1957-2006). In this model all injuries
and other conditions causing pain or disability are seen as arising
from specific distortions of the connective tissue. This highly
illustrated and very practical text and manual covers in detail the
theoretical framework of the model, and approaches to manual
therapy treatment based on an understanding of the FDM. The authors
systematically cover all disorders likely to be encountered by the
therapist, and provide comprehensive guidance about when it is
appropriate to use FDM and how best to employ these approaches in
treatment. The book is therefore of interest and value to all
practitioners who want to understand the FDM and to incorporate its
techniques into their therapeutic practice. This is also a
comprehensive textbook and manual for anyone studying on FDM
courses and for specific qualifications.
Best of visceral manipulation -- key concepts at a glance Written
by one of the best-known European osteopaths, Visceral Manipulation
in Osteopathy explains how to successfully apply the four most
common approaches for the manual treatment of abdominal disorders.
The first section provides an overview of the basic principles and
techniques of diagnosis and treatment from the greats of
osteopathy: visceral manipulation according to Barral; fascial
treatment of the organs according to Finet and Williame;
circulatory techniques according to Kuchera; and reflex point
treatment according to Chapman. Organized by the individual organs,
the second section contains "action" photographs that demonstrate
osteopathic tests and treatment techniques, plus in-depth
information on anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Features: * Over
160 clear, marked-up "action" photographs illustrate the different
techniques * Additional graphics display the macroscopic anatomy
and topography of the organs * Practical tips and notes are
highlighted throughout for rapid access and quick review *
Organ-tooth interrelationships are demonstrated Practitioners of
osteopathy, physical therapy, or chiropractic will refer to this
indispensable clinical guide on a daily basis. The book's breadth
and clarity also make it ideal as a textbook for students of
visceral manipulation.
Now in its Fifth Edition, this Photographic Manual of Regional
Orthopaedic and Neurologic Tests describes in step-by-step fashion
how to perform these tests. Each chapter begins with a decision
tree of the orthopaedic examination of an anatomic area, followed
by a brief description of the anatomic area, usually with an
accompanying drawing. The presentation of each test begins with a
clinical description and a box of clinical signs and symptoms,
followed by a brief description of the procedure with a photograph
demonstrating the position of the clinician and the patient. The
author then presents a brief rationale for the test and suggests
diagnostic imaging procedures where appropriate. A companion

Rainer Thiele beschaftigt sich in diesem Buch mit der Chiropraktik
und untersucht dabei zwei Fragestellungen: Ist chiropraktische
Behandlung bei unteren Ruckenschmerzen ein erfolgreicher
Therapieansatz? Ist chiropraktische Behandlung bei Kopfschmerzen
eine Standardtherapie? Zur Thematik Chiropraktik bei unteren
Ruckenschmerzen wurde mittels neuester randomisierten klinischen
Studien ein Kongress-Abstract veroeffentlicht, welches als
Posterbeitrag zum 16. Kongress fur Versorgungsforschung in Berlin

Based on Dr. Croibier's everyday clinical experience, this book
provides critical tools for examining patients in order to
determine what the course of treatment should be. Written for
manual hands-on therapy students and practitioners that include
osteopaths, physical therapists, and chiropractors, the book
explores in depth the osteopathic diagnosis process that aims to
identify an abnormality and to discover factors that may be causing
the dysfunction. Drawing a comparison between diagnosis in
classical medicine and osteopathy, Dr. Croibier explains that the
osteopath focuses on restoring the conditions of good health rather
than simply addressing the consequences of disease. Enhanced with
more than 175 full-color instructional photos and illustrations,
the book describes the manual hands-on assessments and general
evaluations that lead to a diagnosis. Manual assessments include
objective observation, diagnostic touch, palpation of the affected
areas of the body, visualization, and "listening" (a hand placed on
a specific part of the body to determine tissue functionality).
Based on Dr. Croibier's recommendations, the manual therapist also
performs a patient intake and interview; general evaluation that
analyzes the patient's symptoms and general state; examination of
posture and equilibrium; and observation of individual
characteristics, such as constitution, temperament, and body type.
This is the first textbook on osteopathic medicine to complement
the dominant 'medical' model of education. Drawing from the
achievements and ideas of the past as well as present-day practice,
it provides an organic yet scientific approach that is uniquely
osteopathic.
Using the work of its founder, Dr Andrew Taylor Still, and the
philosophy of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, McKone shows how true
osteopathy is a philosophy, leading to principles and ultimately to
a unique form of treatment.
This style of thinking brings the philosophy, principles and
clinical practice to life for the student and qualified
practitioner. Anatomy, physiology, signs and symptoms all merge at
the point of treatment. Students and practitioners will find this
book invaluable as it will allow them to bring together all their
osteopathic training into a coherent osteopathic system of
practice.
Walter Llewellyn McKone is an author, lecturer and practitioner
in osteopathic medicine. This includes the osteopathic areas of
health care, sports medicine, manipulative medicine and child care
at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a member of the
National Athletic Trainers' Association (US), American Academy of
Psychology, Scientific and Medical Network (UK), Geologists'
Association (UK) and is a researcher in Goethian centred
medicine.
Key features:
Using a light touch generally no greater than the weight of a
nickel, practitioners today use CranioSacral Therapy to improve the
functioning of the central nervous system, eliminate the negative
effects of stress, strengthen resistance to disease, and enhance
overall health. The results? You'll read about some of them here -
from folks like a two-time Olympic bronze medalist whose vertigo
threatened to cut short her platform-diving career, to a young boy
who simply wanted to walk. You'll also explore an innovative
therapy called Somato-Emotional Release. It helps rid the mind and
body of the residual effects of trauma and negative emotional
experiences.
