The glittering gem that is the City of Gold is brilliantly captured in artists’ graphite. The greyscale carbon does not mute the dazzling sparkle of the city founded on gold but, rather, sets it ablaze in a myriad of stark contrasts; black and white, masculine and feminine, positive and negative. It speaks to the observer and reader in a delightful style that is, at once, light-hearted, informative and compelling.
Gold in Graphite – Jozi Sketchbook is a beautiful collection of sketches of some of Johannesburg’s celebrated as well as forgotten masterpieces. Done by a single artist, it is accompanied by well-crafted prose and poetry.
The artist beckons the reader to emerge from the ideologies that prevent us from engaging with the city, her people and her buildings. Each sketch takes us on a journey through time and transformation, where we discover our city and fall in love with her. Through this voyage we exult in an affair that is oblivious to the perceived crime and violence that deter ordinary people from developing a relationship with the city. While our rainbow nation rejoices in the common ground that binds us, our most celebrated city reflects division and class. Breaking through these barriers starts with an exploration of the city and an appreciation of her past with an optimistic look to her future.
From Zappa hurting someone to Kurt Cobain hurting himself. From
trees of peace (except one) to bicycles of terrorism and crappy
nappies, this book contains everything you ever need to know - and

take you on an otherworldly journey steeped in so much black
humour, tangential weirdness and biting observation of the human
race it makes this world a much better place. He is little known in
mainstream culture but is in fact world famous. He was a founding

saved Billy Childish's life
The definitive anatomical coloring book is now back and freshened
up with a new cover. Each year, thousands of students studying to
be doctors, physical therapists, and medical technicians have to
master the art of anatomy--and prospective artists also want to
capture realistic movement and posture. What better way to remember
each bone, muscle, and organ than by coloring a picture? The very
act of drawing entices students to spend more time with the image,
and to examine the body's structure more closely. That's why this
one-of-a-kind coloring book, with its concisely written text and
easy-to-color-in medical illustrations, has always been such a huge
seller--and why it's now revised into this new user-friendly
format. Arranged according to body systems, the color-key
organization links anatomical terminology to the more than 1,000
precise and detailed black-and-white illustrations.

Entrepreneur, researcher and architect Nathan Kabinga is documenting African cities with freehand sketches. He is creating a series of books called Sketch n Cities that is segmented into volumes. Each volume illustrates an African city.
This first volume illustrates Pretoria, one of the capital cities of South Africa. Nathan unveils Pretoria’s suburbs, townships, CBD, institutional buildings, incidental architecture, and quirks.
Sketch n Cities would appeal to architects and people who appreciate hand-sketched art and is also a wonderful product for those who love illustrated short stories about cities. In addition, a volume about a particular city makes an evocative souvenir for tourists visiting the documented city.
Keep the page in your book with this gorgeous pack of 10 foiled
bookmarks, printed on both sides, with a silky ribbon and featuring

This guidance describes a method of recording historic buildings
for the purpose of historical understanding using analytical site
drawing and measuring by hand. The techniques described here have a
long tradition of being used to aid understanding by observation
and close contact with building fabric. They can be used by all
involved in making records of buildings of all types and ages, but
are particularly useful for vernacular buildings and architectural
details which are crucial to the history of a building or site. .
Record drawings are best used alongside other recording techniques
such as written reports and photography or to supplement digital
survey data. They can also be used as a basis for illustrations
that disseminate understanding to wider audiences.
