Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse Team Up to Deliver a
Stunning Depression-Era Drama
Gwyn Hillerman loves being a nurse at her father's clinic on the
beautiful Alaskan frontier. But family life has been rough ever
since her mother left them, disdaining the uncivilized country and
taking Gwyn's younger sister with her.
In Chicago, Dr. Jeremiah Vaughan finds his life suddenly turned
upside down when his medical license is stripped away after an
affluent patient dies. In a snowball effect, his fiance breaks
their engagement. In an attempt to bury the past, Jeremiah accepts
Dr. Hillerman's invitation to join his growing practice in the
isolated Alaska Territory.
Gwyn and Jeremiah soon recognize a growing attraction to each
other. But when rumors of Jeremiah's past begin to surface, they'll
need more than love to face the threat of an uncertain future.
This book offers valuable insights into the role of the Special
Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and aims to illustrate,
evaluate and analyze the characteristics and practice of the SENCo
role. This new edition has been updated to reflect changes in
legislation and the framework for the National Award for SEN
Coordination (NASC). Transforming the Role of the SENCO reflects
the three areas of development of the NASC leaning outcomes:
Professional Knowledge and Understanding; Leading and Coordinating
Provision; and Personal and Professional Qualities. The book links
directly to the NASC learning outcomes, whilst remaining both
cutting edge and relevant to 'real world' practice. Key features of
this second edition include: * Updated content in light of the SEND
Code of Practice 0 - 25 (2015) * Contributions from thought leaders
in the field of SEN and Inclusion * Vignettes offering clear,
practical, and well theorized examples of the work of SENCos, based
on conversations with stakeholders currently involved in the field.
This is a key text for SENCos, particularly those undertaking the
National Award for SEN Coordination, as well as for students
studying SEN and Inclusion on other courses and modules who may
aspire to the role of the SENCo.

In a business world predominantly oriented toward the future, it
has paradoxically become ever more common that companies turn
towards their pasts. This book empirically explores the phenomenon
of organizational remembrance from a holistic cultural perspective.
Based on a twelve-month ethnographic case study conducted at the
headquarters of the German automobile company, AUDI AG, this study
dissects the relationships between memory, identity, and image in a
corporate setting. The greater aim in doing so is twofold: First,
this study examines exactly why and how a company officially
manages its past in terms of 'history' and 'tradition.' And second,
this study scrutinizes what effect organizational remembrance has
on the workforce - how it impacts their collective identification
with a corporate community and influences their understanding of
their daily working life. By investigating the interplay between
different stakeholder groups, as well as their practices, media,
mental models, and other vehicles of remembrance, an integrated
account is offered which makes sense of the complex cultural forces
at work in the corporate handling of the past, the present, and the
future.

A novel of awesome beauty and power by the Hungarian master, Laszlo
Krasznahorkai. Winner of a 2005 PEN Translation Fund Award.
"War and War," Laszlo Krasznahorkai's second novel in English from
New Directions, begins at a point of danger: on a dark train
platform Korim is on the verge of being attacked by thuggish
teenagers and robbed; and from here, we are carried along by the
insistent voice of this nervous clerk. Desperate, at times almost
mad, but also keenly empathic, Korim has discovered in a small
Hungarian town's archives an antique manuscript of startling
beauty: it narrates the epic tale of brothers-in-arms struggling to
return home from a disastrous war. Korim is determined to do away
with himself, but before he can commit suicide, he feels he must
escape to New York with the precious manuscript and commit it to
eternity by typing it all on the world-wide web. Following Korim
with obsessive realism through the streets of New York (from his
landing in a Bowery flophouse to his moving far uptown with a mad
interpreter), "War and War" relates his encounters with a
fascinating range of humanity, a world torn between viciousness and
mysterious beauty. Following the eight chapters of "War and War" is
a short "prequel acting as a sequel," "Isaiah," which brings us to
a dark bar, years before in Hungary, where Korim rants against the
world and threatens suicide. Written like nothing else (turning
single sentences into chapters), "War and War" affirms W. G.
Sebald's comment that Krasznahorkai's prose "far surpasses all the
lesser concerns of contemporary writing."
The Common Cold vs. the Flu chart compares the causes, symptoms and
treatment of these two respiratory problems. Images and text show
normal & inflamed tissue, inflammation of the bronchial airway
and middle ear infection. A point by point comparison chart is
included. Heavy cover stock with protective varnish for durability.
Henry Bradshaw (1831 86) was a scholar and librarian renowned for
numerous discoveries made whilst investigating the manuscripts and
early printed books of the Cambridge University Library. Much of
this material was uncatalogued at the time, nevertheless Bradshaw
was able to bring to light, among other things, the earliest known
Waldensian records. First published in 1889, this volume draws
together a large number of his papers and divides them into two
sections: the first contains written memoranda; the second contains
transcribed speeches originally read out before the Cambridge
Antiquarian Society. Additionally, there are thirteen illustrations
from various books and manuscripts. This is a fascinating text that
will be of value to anyone with an interest in early documents or
medieval history.
Evan Howard, a noted authority on Christian spirituality, provides

spiritual formation written from a broadly evangelical perspective.

and mission in a single integrative guide. The book includes
helpful features such as figures, charts, chapter overviews, and
formation-focused questions. Its evangelical-ecumenical and global
perspectives will appeal to a wide audience. Resources for
professors and students are available through Baker Academic's

The budget is the main tool used to allocate scarce public
resources, and it is in the context of the budget process that
politicians must make trade-offs between different policy
priorities. The characteristics of the budget process determine not
only the sustainability of fiscal accounts but also their
adaptability, efficiency, and representativeness. This volume
describes the budget practices, both formal and informal, in ten
countries of Latin America and explains fiscal results in terms of
these four features. The country studies identify the actors
involved in budget policymaking and distinguish their incentives.
The studies also present the laws and regulations that affect the
incentives and behavior of each actor, as well as the transactions
these actors engage in from a general equilibrium perspective.
Equally important, and a central focus of each study, is the
interaction among the different actors during the budget process.
Through this unique framework, the authors identify the role that
the budget process may have in the broader policymaking game as a
crucial arena to carry out key political transactions.
Bestselling Author Shows How to Access
the Power of the Holy Spirit
The majority of Christians understand grace as not getting the
judgment they deserve and receiving the eternal life they don't
deserve. But the greatness of God's grace and his salvation are far
more than what most of us have come to expect
Here Randy Clark shares what that "more" is--more love for God and
others, more power, more joy, more faith, more results in
prayer--and how believers can experience God's empowering presence
in their lives to do more than they ever imagined. "More" is not
only biblical, explains Clark, but essential for greater
fruitfulness in ministry and for serving in the kingdom of God with
joy and effectiveness.

To us
it is just dirt,
the ground we walk on...
But to Dave
it was clay,
the plain and basic stuff
upon which he formed a life
as a slave nearly 200 years ago.
Dave was an extraordinary artist, poet, and potter living in South
Carolina in the 1800s. He combined his superb artistry with deeply
observant poetry, carved onto his pots, transcending the
limitations he faced as a slave. In this inspiring and lyrical
portrayal, National Book Award nominee Laban Carrick Hill's
elegantly simple text and award-winning artist Bryan Collier's
resplendent, earth-toned illustrations tell Dave's story, a story
rich in history, hope, and long-lasting beauty.
Bestselling Author Reveals How God Empowers Women for Leadership
and Purpose
Christian women are often led to believe they are God's
afterthoughts--as if they were created inferior to men or destined
by God to play a secondary role in life. Not so, says bestselling
author J. Lee Grady, father of four daughters and a leading
international voice confronting the abuse of women. He counters
that the Bible's message is neither sexist nor patronizing.
Through sharing the lives of 23 mold-breaking biblical women, Grady
shows how God enables his daughters to do amazing, even impossible
things. He also reveals the empowering, yet often-overlooked, gifts
God longs to give each of his daughters--gifts like wisdom,
fruitfulness, leadership, family, and boldness. When women learn to
receive each of these, and more, as a divine inheritance, they will
live the fearless and beautiful lives of purpose God desires for
them.

Originally published in 1957, this book provides a concise, yet
highly detailed, record of the processes involved in building and
maintaining windmills. Written by renowned windmill enthusiast
Stanley Freese (1902-72), it is based on an accumulated knowledge
gathered by the author during numerous discussions with millers,
millwrights and mill repairers. The text is highly informative and,
in addition to the main account, contains a wide variety of
illustrative examples, including photographs and diagrams. This is
a beautifully presented volume that will be of value to anyone with
an interest in windmills and agricultural history in general.
This fresh, comprehensive text fills a need for an up-to-date
theology of mission. It offers creative approaches to answering
some of the most pressing questions in theology of mission and
missionary practice today. The authors, who are leading mission
experts, discuss biblical theology of mission, provide historical
overviews of the development of various viewpoints, and address
theologically current issues in global mission from an evangelical
perspective. This readable yet thorough text integrates current
views of the kingdom of God and holistic mission with traditional
views of evangelism and church planting. It also brings theology of
mission into conversation with ecclesiology and eschatology. Topics
covered include contextualization, the missionary vocation, church
and mission, and theology of religions. Sidebars and case studies
enable readers to see how theology of mission touches real-life
mission practice.
Consistently provocative, thoroughly original In its methods and
conclusions. The Rebellious Century: 1830-1930 questions virtually
every popular or scholarly assumption about the conditions
underlying collective violence. Written by a sociologist, an
historian, and an economist, the study presents a comparative
history of group actions leading to violence In France, Italy, and
Germany. The book demonstrates how urbanization, industrialization,
and the concentration of political power in these and other Western
countries have affected the means ordinary people have had to act
together on their grievances and aspirations. The authors' findings
not only shed light on the past but have relevance for today. By
using violence as a "tracer" of change the Tillys: challenge
Durkheim's "breakdown" thesis that identifies protest as the
eruption of fragmented, disadvantaged, uprooted social groups;
undermine standard characterizations of collective violence as the
immediate consequence of hunger, unemployment, inflation, and other
forms of material deprivation; and reject the "collective behavior"
treatment of violent movements as deviant and irrational. For all
three countries, the Tillys relate economic and political
transformations to collective action and mass violence. They find
that whether people acted to retain group rights (food riots, tax
rebellions, land occupations) or to gain them (strikes,
demonstrations, coups), the outcome depended on the political
positions of the actors and the repressive policies of the
government. Active participants in collective violence tended to
come from organized groups already in control of significant
political resources. The extent and character of violence, however,
depended strongly on how governments reacted to challenges.
Readable, thoughtful, persuasive, and free of jargon or elaborate
theoretical formulations, this work draws on years of research with
European newspapers, local studies, and archival materials and
builds unobtrusively on the most extensive quantitative analyses of
long-run changes in collective action which have ever been done. It
contributes to history, to social science, and to everyday thinking
about conflict.

As the Triune God created the world, so creation bears the signs of
its Creator. This evocative book by an influential Christian
thinker explores the pattern of mutual indwelling that
characterizes the creation at every level. Traces of the Trinity
appear in myriad ways in everyday life, from our relations with the
world and our relationships with others to sexuality, time,
language, music, ethics, and logic. This small book with a big
idea--the Trinity as the Christian theory of everything--changes
the way we view and think about the world and places demands on the
way we live together in community.
