Every school board adopts a unique governing style which affects
the way the district is managed. This book identifies some of those
styles and examines their potential impact on district
administration, and ultimately on student achievement. The book
also clarifies the role of school boards in unequivocal terms,
discusses board-superintendent relations, and offers several
recommendations and critical takeaways for education stakeholders.
The author's doctoral research which gave rise to this book shows
that a school board's governing style has the potential to affect
educational outcomes in consequential ways, particularly in urban
districts where the greatest impact was observed. A content outline
for a set of professional development modules on school board
governance is provided in the book, including an in depth review of
the roles and responsibilities of school boards, and some case
studies on board-superintendent interaction.
In September 2002 she married the man of her dreams. In June 2005
they purchased their home in paradise. It was the perfect love
nest, the kind of home most people can only dream about. Their
private get-a-way was nestled in 5.75 acres of plush exotic land,
with a towering forest of landscape and natural habitat,
overlooking several creeks and streams with breath taking sunset
views from every angle. It was secretly hidden from the world, a
place where deer's and rabbits seek refuge; where the falcons
soared and roamed freely without fear of discovery. It was the
summer of their lives, with a newly built wrap-around deck that lit
up the night. They were the envy of all their friends and
neighbors. Until one day the perfect dream they once shared came
crashing down around them Their once perfect marriage would be put
to the test. Voluntary humility is an honor and privilege best
served with a willing, sincere and open heart. To be humbled by
God, is an indescribable devastation of heartache and pain for
which they would soon discover. September 2009 the flood they once
mocked and avoided two years prior, returns with a wicked
vengeance, only this time it would take most of the city and their
home in paradise with it Being homeless with only the clothes on
their backs, they did not sin nor did they charge God with wrong.
They were hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed,
but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but
not destroyed. In this faith based book, Bernita Weston shares with
the world how they were able to turn their tragedy into triumph.

This is a detailed historical analysis of Shakespeare and food that
provides fascinating insights into early modern attitudes to the
body and domestic life. This dictionary is the first to analyze
Shakespeare's language of food. It provides an historically
accurate account of the role of food in early modern culture and
the way this intersected with Shakespeare's writings and introduces
contemporary ideas that informed the representations of food and
feeding in his plays and poems. Drawing on early modern dietaries
as well as other sources including religious sermons and tracts,
legal documents, recipe books and conduct manuals, it provides the
historical and cultural context to Shakespeare's depictions of food
and feeding. This comprehensive analysis of Shakespeare and food
also offers fascinating insights into early modern attitudes to
food, drink, the body and domestic life. "The Continuum Shakespeare
Dictionary" series provides authoritative guides to major
subject-areas covered by the poetry and plays. The dictionaries
provide readers with a comprehensive guide to the topic under
discussion, especially its contemporary meanings, and to its
occurrence and significance in Shakespeare's works. Comprehensive
bibliographies accompany many of the items. Entries range from a
few lines in length to mini-essays, providing the opportunity to
explore an important literary or historical concept or idea in
