Of the 17 years Joe spent living an out of control life on the edge, five of those years resulted in time behind bars in various county jails and prisons in three different states. It was during these times when he found himself locked up that Joe wrote hundreds of poems as a release from the many emotions he experienced while incarcerated. The poems shared in Rage to Redemption were compiled and published in the order in which they were originally written. If you choose to read the poems in order from front to back, you will actually see a life transforming through the words on these pages. The book as a whole tells a beautiful story that starts with much despair and unfolds into a life of love, faith, hope and joy. While Rage and Redemption has a spiritual base, it also contains some graphic imagery that portrays where the author's frame of mind was during his darkest hours. This book is full of pain, loneliness, inspiration and redemption. There is something for everyone in this poetry, even if you are not a traditional poetry fan. They are real poems that were written by a real man who deals with real issues. Take a minute to read some of this work. We're sure you too will find something that touches you.
Often, there are many things that goes untold about raising a special needs children. Feelings are not expressed or explained. Stories are kept to a silent, "hush." The family members live day in and out with stories that never makes the news, never makes the newspapers, or a topic of general conversation. The stories, as many as there are, have not been told. Some of the stories are of embarrassment, some of laughter, some of tears, and some of struggles. Many of them are of joys, strengths, and victories. Many of them should be told. In The Half has not Been Told-Memoirs of my Destiny, Patricia Betts Tyus captures stories of things that has occurred over the years in the life of her daughter, Destini, diagnosed as special needs at the age of two years old. She shares the emotions that a mother experiences when she finds out that the child she sees as prefect is being labeled with titles that would alter the perception of anyone that hears them. The author shares stories of the hard and continuous work that goes into overcoming challenges and all the joy of reward that is on the other side of getting through the challenge. The author shares emotional and enlightening moments to help redefines the stereotypical thoughts that people have of special needs children. She challenges those who work with special needs individual to think outside of the box to design ways of doing things so that special needs individuals can have great success stories. The author shares the half of the stories that have never been told.
"A Glimpse of Glory is a wonderful testament to God's love and promises from one who experienced death-only reluctantly returning to life as we know it from the hereafter. The author wipes away the trepidation even Christians feel toward death and an inkling of what comes next while sharing his own humble beginnings, rugged upbringing and experiences. Rick East is the real deal and has a great message in his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and what he believes God wants him to share with as many as possible. This story is first rate with a vivid emotional impact and obviously has God's blessing." -Nick Weyland, fellow author and Christian brother A Glimpse of Glory A mysterious illness caused Rick East to lapse into respiratory failure the afternoon of December 25, 2012. Rick discovered his spirit was in heaven and was being coached by the Holy Spirit. Rick saw the city of heaven and had many conversations with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit answered questions that have puzzled Christians for years.
Does God care about you? Is He aware of your day-to-day activities, worries, afflictions, and sorrows? God is not a distant, uninterested, uncaring being that created the world then left the inhabitants to fend for themselves. God engages in every aspect of your life. Almighty God loves you with a deep and perfect love. He will call you to be His child, a part of His intimate family. He is aware of each minute of your existence. He knew you before you were born and has a divine purpose for your life. He never leaves you. He never forsakes you. He is always aware and available. He picks you up when you fall. He sets you back on the right path when you stray. He protects and comforts you through trouble when it comes. He forgives you over and over again when you lose sight, make wrong choices, and make mistakes. He isn't distant at all. In fact, God is involved and concerned about everything regarding you, His child. Teresa Jones takes the truths from Psalm 139 and conveys biblical examples of God's intervention while providing an intimate walk through her personal testimony of living within His keeping.
Each one of us has made choices in our lives that we regret. Some of these choices have minimal consequences, while other choices we have made can cause devastating outcomes. In her book, "Abortion v. God's Amazing Grace," the author shares just that sort of choice that can have lifelong effects. Her choice to have an abortion was made at a moment when all she could hear were lies. Then, after it was too late to undo what she had done, truth was heard, reality set in, and the pain and hopelessness became unbearable. Thankfully, God does not leave us without hope. Through the author's story, you will see how God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, takes our sin, pain, and destruction and brings forgiveness and hope to our lives. You will witness a God who takes our brokenness and over and over again demonstrates His powerful love, forgiveness, grace, and healing. The author will share that God is always there. He is always love, and He waits to make each one of us whole. "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed." - 1 Peter 2:24

Containing more than 170 entries, the encyclopedia is organized by religious category, such as Abrahamic, East Asian, and African Diasporic religions, then alphabetically within each category. Each entry is prefaced with a short introduction that explains where and when the religious tradition originated and describes the religion today. This information is followed by an analysis of the historical development and use of symbols along with an explanation of connections between symbols used by different religions, such as shared astrological symbolism in the form of moon, sun, or star motifs. Provides fascinating historical and contextual information about religious traditions and symbols Addresses the roots of some of today's most popular superstitions and conspiratorial theories Focuses primarily on religions that are dominant or are becoming widespread within the United States, allowing students to gain a better understanding of religion in American society and greater appreciation for cultural diversity Develops a unique thesis about utilizing religious archetypes to facilitate understanding of religious ritual and organizations Includes a phonetic pronunciation guide with each entry to help students become comfortable with unfamiliar terminology
It's clear that we are the authors of Evil. We are the ones running with pitchforks. Deity is no more than a cardboard cut-out, barely paying attention if at all. Yet, so blatant are claims on behalf of the gods in our time that one is compelled to wonder how civilization came to be in such a mess. Of course humanity shares the blame, perhaps most of it, but given the deity's reputation for miraculous cures, it is surprising, no, astonishing, that human suffering is still an issue twenty-six centuries after Job made his complaint. The author remembers the last century as a time of stupendous brutality and cruelty, from which humanity has yet to recover. The truth is, he fears, that either we do not know the gods well enough to banish them, or that banishment could not come too soon. We would do well to remember Socrates and how to apply reason in our lives.
Messages from God All messages in this book are from God, revealed by the Holy Spirit to the author. All scripture is taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible. "I make known to you, brothren, that the Gospel which was preached by me, is not after man, for I neither received it of man, neither, was I taught it. but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." (Galatians 1:11, 12) Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor." (Luke 4:18) "God has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised" (Isaiah 61:1-2) Reverend A. L. Dorrough Messages from God
The enemy is enraged. He knows he has but a short time and ferociously attacks God's creation. However, it is possible to defend ourselves, especially for the Christian who is knowledgeable and aware of aggressive prayer. Supported by rich teachings, this spiritual warfare manual contains powerful and targeted prayers to dislodge and to put to shame the works of darkness. In this book are discussed the judgments of the spiritual world, travel and ancestral forces, flight in dreams, evil baths, and the evil spirit of your uncle. In addition, we address the issue of accidents caused by the spiritual world, bad news, nostrils' deliverance, forces attacking marriages, and finally strange things. Supported with real examples, these topics of everyday life are dissected so that the depths of the Bible are accessible to all. Th is book is for anyone who wants to know more about spiritual warfare, whether they are pastors, ministers, workers, Christians engaged in spiritual warfare, or even those who are tormented by the spirits of the world of darkness and who want to end their afflictions.

Dr. Howard has crafted a careful and balanced blend of Bible exposition, theology, real-life illustrations from his vast ministerial experience, and practical applications to those who yearn for their lives to be transformed from a messy situation to a message that honors and glorifies God. Each chapter expounds the miraculous way God used an unlikely individual with a messy life and turned his or her life into a positive message. The woman at the well, Zacchaeus, Jabez, Ruth, the thief on the cross, and Jephthah all faced challenging circumstances. Sin, genetics, the unexpected death of a spouse, rebellion, and poor family heritage placed these Bible characters in the "most likely not to succeed" category. All had three strikes against them. God, in His infinite mercy and grace, had a plan for each of these lives. He turned their mess into a positive message. Regardless of what mess you find your life to be in, this book gives practical ways of how to get out. Everyone faces trials and difficulties in life. Dr. Howard likens the trials and difficulties in life to "potholes." Potholes appear out of nowhere - unexpectedly - and can be destructive and hurtful and take away our joy and sense of well being. Dr. Howard says, "Being a Christian does not mean that we will not be faced with trials and tribulations, which are like potholes in our lives (some are big while others are small)." Regardless of how messy your life is or how many potholes are causing you concern, "Turning Your Mess into a Message" will give you hope and lead you to the Savior, who alone can turn your life around. He did it for the six Bible characters expounded upon in the book and He continues to change and transform messy lives into a message today.
Jervis Sharp Zimmerman was born in Harvey, Illinois in 1922. He graduated from the University of Illinois with High Honors in English and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Thereafter he prepared for the Christian ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and was ordained in 1945 by the Presbytery of Chicago. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in counseling psychology at the University of Chicago. In 1953, after studying at Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut he was ordained deacon and priest by the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut in which he continues serving. From 1954 to l967 he was Rector of Christ Church, West Haven, Connecticut where Oliver Prescott served in l866 and l867. It was this fact which sparked the author's interest in Prescott which led to this biography. Prescott was an early and ardent advocate for the Catholic revival in the Episcopal Church. As a priest he was in constant difficulty with his bishop, both for his doctrine and his liturgical usage. With his protege, Charles Grafton, he was an early member of the Society of St.John the Evangelist, the first modern monastic community for men in the Church of England.
