Unison Colour Pastels are made in Northumberland and contain only pure pigments. Unison groups the colours together in sets of related hues, instead of adding white or black pigment to the colours. The result is intense and vibrant shades, not muddied by the blending of colours.
Unison's pastels contain very little binder, making them truly soft and smooth. They are mixed to meticulous recipes and are based on traditional pigments such as cadmiums, cobalts and natural and synthetic earths. Sticks vary slightly due to the hand-making process.

Strathmore 400 Series Toned Mixed Media Pads provide a premium surface
for artists who enjoy combining drawing and painting techniques. Each
pad contains 15 sheets of 300 gsm vellum-surfaced paper in warm tan or
cool grey tones, perfectly balanced to enhance both dark values and
light highlights. The heavyweight paper unites the strength and
absorbency of watercolour paper with the fine finish of a drawing
sheet, making it ideal for mixed-media artwork.
This versatile surface supports a wide range of mediums including
watercolour, gouache, acrylic, graphite, pen, ink, coloured pencil,
marker, pastel and collage. The mid-toned base reduces the need for
heavy background work and provides a natural starting point for tone
and contrast. Gum-bound on one short edge for easy sheet removal, these
acid-free pads are designed for both experimental studies and finished
pieces.

The Tim Fisher Soft Pastel Liquefier temporarily dissolves the
binder that holds soft pastels together to allow you to create
beautiful wash effects, similar to a watercolour wash. It also
allows you to mix and blend the colours to create some interesting
effects. The liquefier has an alcohol base and so once applied it
will dry quickly, returning the pastel painting to its original
state. Please note this is not a pastel fixative. The Tim
Fisher Soft Pastel Liquefier comes in a 250ml spray bottle.

Excellent colour releaseIntense and pure coloursGood to highest degree of lightfastnessVery high colouring power due to high concentration of pigmentFree of pigments based on the metals lead, cadmium and cobalt. The complete range consists of 203 coloursThe composition of soft pastels is such that the colour on the ground approaches that of pure pigment as much as possible. This is achieved through a combination of pigment, a minimal amount of binder and the purest and softest types of kaolin, also referred to as pipe clay or China clay. the balanced proportion of these ingredients results in an as spontaneous as possible colour transfer and a velvety look.
