Diane Townsend Artists' Pastels are hand made soft pastels for artists. Diane began making them in 1971 with a 15th century Italian formula, translated by a conservationist she shared a studio with. The formula has been refined over the last 45 years to create a smooth, flowing pastel that is as rich in pigment as possible.

This surface is characteristic of the traditional hand-made papers of the pre-Industrial age, which were formed in sieve-like moulds of wire mesh which left impressions on the surface of the paper.This sheet is made of cotton and is naturally acid-free. It measures 50x65cm and is of the following colour: Black.

Conte crayons with their 6x6mm cross-section offer a range of 84 colours, 14 tones of which are specifically designed for sketching. The crayons are very soft to use and are manufactured using natural pigments (iron oxide, carbon black, titanium dioxide), clay (kaolin) and a binder (cellulose ether), which are then baked after being extruded and dried.
