Kuhlman's greatest gift for God's Kingdom was her ability to teach.
Within these pages, Kuhlman talks about the reason for miracles;
what money won't buy; the truth about weakness; and a prescription
for healing.

Spoken by nearly 60 million people, Cantonese rivals Mandarin as
the lingua franca of both south China and of the world-wide Chinese
diaspora population. Unique among all the Chinese dialects,
Cantonese also has a writing system that is distinct from Mandarin
Chinese and makes use of characters generally not understood by
non-Cantonese speakers. It is an official language of Hong Kong and
Macau, and written Cantonese is commonly found on street signs in
Hong Kong as well as in newspapers and novels. The spoken language
also exerts a strong cultural influence on East Asia, due to the
prominence of Hong Kongs film and music industries. This dictionary
with over 14,000 entries provides students and travellers with a
portable, yet comprehensive resource for everyday use.

Leo Stelten has put to use his years of experience teaching Latin
in compiling this concise reference book. The "Dictionary of
Ecclesiastical Latin" includes approximately 17,000 words with the
common meanings of the Latin terms found in church writings.
Entries cover Scripture, Canon Law, the Liturgy, Vatican II, the
early church fathers, and theological terms. This volume will prove
to be an invaluable resource for theological students, as well as
for those seeking to improve their knowledge of ecclesiastical
Latin. An appendix also provides descriptions of ecclesiastical
structures and explains technical terms from ecclesiastical law.
The "Dictionary of Ecclesiastical Latin" has already been widely
praised for its serviceability and indispensability in both
academic and Church settings.
"For seminarians studying for the priesthood, the "Dictionary of
Ecclesiastical Latin" by Leo F. Stelten will be helpful for
examining Vatican documents in the original language, papal
encyclicals and allocutions, publications on church liturgy, and
Cannon Law volumes. This product of years of teaching, now updated,
will be a happy resource in chanceries as well. The format is easy
to follow and the vocabulary of some 17,000 words and phrases is
quite adequate."
" Reverend Joseph F. Downey, S. J., Editorial Director, Loyola
University Press, Chicago, Illinois
"A working knowledge of Latin is important for anyone who wishes
to study the nearly two thousand years of living tradition of the
Catholic Church. It is essential for those who wish to study
seriously the sacred sciences of philosophy, theology, and cannon
law. Father Leo Stelten, drawing upon his long experiences in
teaching Latin tostudents for the priesthood, has developed in his
"Dictionary of Ecclesiastical Latin" a most helpful tool both for
those who are beginning their study of the church's lingua materna,
as well as for those who are working to renew and improve their
knowledge of church Latin."

Sahaptin, or Ichishkiin Sinwit (literally, "this language"), is a
Plateau Penutian language spoken in south-central Washington and
northern Oregon. This dictionary documents the dialect of Sahaptin
that is spoken by the Yakama people. Ichishkiin Sinwit Yakama /
Yakima Sahaptin Dictionary is the first modern published dictionary
of any Sahaptin dialect. The dictionary is divided into three
sections: a Sahaptin-English section; an English-Sahaptin section;
and a section listing roots used in the formation of Sahaptin
words. The Sahaptin-English section contains approximately 3,500
headwords, over 4,500 example sentences, more than 100 images, and
over 9,200 sound files available online. Copious cross-references
alert readers to related words elsewhere in the Sahaptin-English
section. The English-Sahaptin and roots sections serve as indices
to the Sahaptin-English section. In the English-Sahaptin section,
users can look up the Sahaptin equivalents of English words. In the
root section, users can see words from different parts of the
dictionary that share the same component of meaning. The dictionary
also contains essays by noted Plateau linguist Bruce Rigsby
(professor emeritus, University of Queensland) on the histories and
current usage of the terms "Sahaptin" and "Yakima / Yakama."
In this innovative dictionary, German words and proper names are
presented which are derived either from the development away from
or independent establishment (of forms) of an already-existing,
extinct or reconstructed borrowing or loan word (e.g., wAgen -
wiegen, Triumph - Trumpf, TrinitAt - Trinidad) or which are made up
of identical elements (e.g., bekommen - beikommen).
What helps women quit smoking is different from what works for men.
Women's bodies react to nicotine differently, their withdrawal
symptoms are more severe, and when they stop they gain weight more
easily than men do. Part One of this guide helps women choose the
best time and method to quit. Part Two gives guidelines for
managing withdrawal and weight gain, finding peer support, and
controlling stress and the urge to have just one more cigarette.
This 2-way Dictionary is ideal for the serious learner and user of Danish. Translations are accurate and are supported by pertinent examples. Entries are supplemented by a section covering Danish pronunciation and grammar.
The language of the Ojibway people was recorded by Frederic Baraga
(1797-1868), a missionary priest from Slovenia, who was sent in
1835 by the Catholic church to serve among the Ojibway living in
the Lake Superior region. The multilingual Baraga quickly learned
the Ojibway language and over many years worked within the
community to produce a dictionary, a grammar and religious
literature. In 1853 the first edition of A Dictionary of Otchipwe
Language Explained in English was published. A revised edition of
this Ojibway-English/English-Ojibway dictionary followed in 1878
and is the version now reprinted. More than a hundred years later,
this dictionary remains a classic and the most useful for a wide
range of dialects. It is an important cultural and linguistic
source for historians, anthropologists, linguists, ethnologists,
and all students interested in the Ojibway language.
There are about 88 million native Punjabi speakers world-wide,

The student of philosophy often feels bewildered by the vast terminology of the subject. HarperCollins Dictionary of Philosophy helps lessen the confusion by providing a single source of clear and understandable definitions of philosophic terms. Emphasis is on the areas most commonly covered in introductory philosophy courses: epistemology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics and the philosophies of religion and politics.
This is a facsimile of the 1817 fourth edition of Hannah Adams's
pioneering harbinger of the scholarly study of religion. The book
surveys the diversity of religion, mostly of historical and
contemporary Christian sects and movements but with significant
inclusions of Jewish, Muslim, and "heathen" religious groups.
Adams's particular contribution was the self-conscious effort to
treat all religious groups on the same level and to avoid explicit
or implicit judgments. She preferred to use self-descriptions where
she had them. It is this non-normative approach that gives the book
its historical value. Thomas Tweed's introduction discusses Adams's
life and sets her and her book usefully in their context. He
includes a helpful guide to the key entries.
Indicates pronunciation in English spelling and acquaints visitors

on grammar, pronunciation, and dialect.
