Certainely, we live in a new century. Unfortunately, everywhere on
our planet, humankind betrays a widespread distressing situation,
confusion, perplexity, a lack of contact with the idea of
civilization. The author believes that we have dragged the
drawbacks of past centuries behind us and that we should reevaluate
the sources of values.
This compilation contains three of the most revered and celebrated
texts by the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. The Analects of
Confucius were penned during the Warring States period of Chinese
antiquity, which saw great social upheaval between the various
realms of the Middle Kingdom. Divided into twenty principle
chapters (called books) - the subjects range from wise behaviour in
times of crisis to general instruction upon how to live a peaceful
life characterised by a serene mood, humility to others, and
quality work performed well. The Great Learning: One of the classic
four books of ancient Confucianism consists of a short initial
commentary attributed to Confucius himself, followed by a lengthier
tract written by one of his disciples named Zengzi. Another classic
book of Confucian thought, The Doctrine of the Mean, is a practical
guide for those aspiring to sublime wisdom. It demonstrates how a
balanced, harmonious manner of living is the most conducive to joy
and satisfaction.
The original Swedish edition of this book appeared in 2004.
Halsopromotion i Arbetslivet] It has gained a place of central
importance in the scientific literature for educational courses in
Public Health and Health promotion. In order to meet current
international interest in the salutogenic perspective in Workplace
Health Promotion, the original text of the book has now been
directly translated into English. The aim of the book is to
describe health promotion as an idea, an area of knowledge and a
strategy for healthpromoting work primarily in working life. The
idea of salutogenesis and Aaron Antonovsky's theory of a sense of
coherence (SOC) form important starting points for the book. A
conceptual model is derived from the international tradition of
Health Promotion and Workplace Health Promotion, which can serve as
a guide for the work of health promotion in various settings. The
book is theoretical in character but it is also written with an eye
to providing support in the practical application of health
promotion work.
A glad heart lights up the face, but by mental anguish the spirit
is broken." Proverbs 15:13 (NAB) Out of the Darkness tells the
intimate details of one woman's struggle through a 21 year verbally
and emotionally abusive relationship. "Just because someone seems
to have the perfect marriage or life, doesn't always mean that's
what their life really is like. Sometimes, those are the people who
are hurting the most. Just as you don't know what goes on behind
closed doors in their life, they don't know what's going on in
yours." Insight is offered on how and when she realized it was time
to get out of the relationship and what it took to walk out of the
darkness; to overcome and move on to a new and amazing life.
