Highly Commended by the BMA Medical Book Awards for Surgery! The
gliding nature and dynamic planes of the face present one of the
great challenges in aesthetic surgery and volume replenishment is a
key component of the treatment algorithm. Facial Volumization: An
Anatomic Approach by Jerome Lamb and Christopher Surek masterfully
bridges the gap between the anatomy lab and injection clinic. It
synthesizes a large body of facial anatomy publications into a
"one-stop shop" covering a wide array of facial procedures - from
the chin and perioral - to the midface and temple. In addition to
vascular injury, lymphatic disruption can play a critical role in
suboptimal aesthetic facial volumization outcomes. Chapter 2, The
Lymphatic Anatomy of the Lower Eyelid and the Malar Region of the
Face discusses new state-of-the art facial lymphatic discoveries.
Key Features Numerous beautiful, full-page color illustrations
systematically reveal each layer of the face - from deep to
superficial - taking readers on a unique journey through the 3-D
architecture of complex facial anatomy. The left side of each page
features a written synopsis of the vascular, muscular, ligament,
and adipose components of specific layers paired with cadaveric
dissection photographs. More than 20 high-definition live patient
injection videos posted in the Thieme online Media Center include
detailed injector commentary. Augmentation and enhancement
techniques, the latest facial fillers and lip injections, and
illustrated guidance on preferred volumization approaches.
Identification of danger zones and technical pearls for injecting
safely, avoiding problems, and obtaining the best results. This
invaluable resource will help residents and seasoned plastic
surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, dermatologists,
otolaryngologists, and aestheticians perform facial injections
safely and achie
This is a revised edition of a bestselling handbook. The authors
have fully updated the text to include the most up to date
treatment options, have added a section on head and neck imaging
(CT/MRI), a series of self-test clinical cases, and 100 new
photographs. The book uses a symptom-based approach to assist the
clinician in the diagnosis and management of those conditions that
fall into the speciality of oral medicine. Dealing first with
normal anatomy, physical examination and investigation-particularly
lesional biopsy, hematological assessment and microbiological
sampling-the authors cover all areas of those diseases, local and
systemic, that manifest themselves in the lips and mouth.
Conditions are grouped under their principal presenting
sign-blistering, white patches, red patches, swelling,
pigmentation, pain, dry mouth, altered taste, and halitosis. This
comprehensive handbook is of value to professionals and trainees in
medicine, dentistry and pathology.
The third edition of Balance Function Assessment and Management,
the leading textbook on the subject, continues to comprehensively
address the assessment and treatment of balance system impairments
through contributions from top experts in the areas of dizziness
and vertigo. Designed for use in graduate audiology programs and by
practicing audiologists, this is also a valuable text for those in
the fields of physical therapy, otolaryngology, and neurology. New
to the Third Edition Reorganized with the expertise of four
additional Editors: Kamran Barin, PhD, Robert F. Burkard, PhD,
Kristen Janky, PhD, and Devin L. McCaslin, PhD Three new chapters o
The History of Vestibular System Assessment (Zalewski) o Balance
Therapy in the Pediatric Population (Christy-Braswell) o
Challenging Cases (Shepard) All existing chapters have been revised
and updated An effort has been made to make the text more concise
Three new helpful appendices: o Appendix I covers the
pathophysiology behind dizziness. The authors provide a list of
disorders that cause symptoms of dizziness and balance disorders
going from common peripheral disorders to rare central disorders.
For each of the disorders a vignette is provided that provides the
symptoms, test findings, treatments, prognosis and site-of-lesion.
o Appendix II deals with the development of codes that are used for
billing our services. The discussion includes the movement in the
United States for changing to Alternative Payment Models,
reimbursement based on quality of care and away from
fee-for-service billing. o Appendix III provides an overview of
Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Interprofessional Practice
(IPP) and how the hope is that IPE will lead to IPP. As with prior
editions, the text comes with access to a PluralPlus companion
website that contains videos of eye movements associated with the
cases described in the text.

A state-of-the-art resource on head, neck, and skull base surgical
procedures in children Pediatric otolaryngology is a rapidly
expanding field with remarkable technological advances that have
improved the quality of life for young patients. Many highly
complex pediatric head and neck procedures are not commonly
performed, resulting in a paucity of resources. Atlas of Pediatric
Head and Neck and Skull Base Surgery by renowned surgeons Dan M.
Fliss, Ari DeRowe, and an impressive group of interdisciplinary
innovators fills a gap in the literature. The richly illustrated
atlas features a detailed discussion and guidance on groundbreaking
surgeries developed and currently performed by top academic
surgeons in the field, many of whom contributed to this book. The
introductory section lays a solid foundation of knowledge, with
discussion of pediatric anatomy, distinctive topography of the
skull base, anesthesia and pain control considerations, and imaging
modalities. Fifty-four subsequent chapters encompass a rich
spectrum of approaches and pediatric pathologies, organized by head
and neck; skull base and craniofacial; airway, voice, and
swallowing; trauma; and reconstruction sections. Surgical chapters
include an introduction; evidence-based guidelines; preoperative,
anesthetic, intraoperative and postoperative considerations;
techniques and positioning; extensive references; and more. Key

perioperative, and postoperative considerations enhance the ability

otolaryngology, maxillofacial, plastic reconstructive, and
neurosurgery residents, as well as for pediatric otolaryngology and
head and neck fellows. Practicing head and neck surgeons and
pediatric otolaryngologists will also find it beneficial. This book

besonderer einfuhrender Abschnitt gewidmet. Dies insbesonders
