High quality relief carving tools designed for lino and wood cutting. Suitable for students and professionals alike. Each tempered steel blade is manually sharpened and firmly attached to the handle. The black lacquered wooden handle has a long domed shape perfect for precision use.
The water-based, high-quality aqua-Linoprint colours contain natural binders such as gum Arabic as well as organic/inorganic pigments. They are easy to apply due to optimum open-times and result in even, sharp prints with fast drying times (wipe-resistant after approx. 15 minutes).
All colours offer maximum light fastness (4 and 5 stars) and an excellent intensity (especially black). The formulation for the colours in tubes and jars is the same. Due to its fluid consistency all aqua-Linoprint colours can easily be applied to different surfaces such as paper, felt, cardboard and suitable also for wood engraving and printing with various materials.
The smooth colours are of pleasant odour and can be overprinted with other colours. They are intermixable, ready to use and can be diluted with water.
These lithographic pencils are used to draw onto a lithographic stone alongside or in place of Lithographic Ink (Tusche. ) Lithographic pencils are available in several forms and degrees of hardness. The very soft pencils (no. 5 for example) produce rich, smoky black lines, the harder ones (containing less grease) produce the lighter and finer tones. The hardest grade pencils can be sharpened with a pencil sharpener or a polisher. Lithographic crayons are also used in etching.
Printing inks can be made by mixing powdered pigments with
copperplate oils. Pour a small quantity of oil into a well of dry
pigment and grind with a glass muller until smooth. Oil is then
added until the mixture has a consistency of double cream.

tin of Diarylide Yellow (PY65, Speedball Lightfastness rating I).
It is suitable for mixing with any of the Speedball Professional
Relief Ink colours. To increase the transparency of this ink, add
Speedball Professional Relief Transparent Base. The ink can be
stiffened with talc or magnesium carbonate, and thinned with water.

The Aqua Wash range meets all the criteria for artist quality inks. It has a high pigmentation concentration identical to that of standard inks, and can be used in all intaglio printing techniques: such as engraving, dry-point, mezzotint, etching and aquatint, as well as monotype and relief printing techniques such as linocut and wood prints. Aqua Wash inks are genuine oily inks for use in all techniques whether etching or relief printing. They must not be confused with water and resin based inks such as gum Arabic or cellulose-tempera based inks that can be re-softened and are limited to monotype or relief techniques (linocut, wood engraving).
