Lascaux Plate-backing resist has been specially designed as part of the acrylic-resist etching system. This new generation acid resist is painted onto the back and the edges of etching plates to protect the metal from the action of the mordant. Lascaux Plate-backing resist is water-soluble, ready to use, non-toxic and suitable for use on copper, brass, zinc, steel and aluminium. This red coloured resist is highly acid-resistant, durable and scratch-resistant. It may be used on unbitten or previously etched (e.g. aquatint, deep open bite) and is compatible with the other Lascaux resists and photopolymer resists such as Photec. The resist may also be used to create a variety of effects on collagraph plates
Created from pigments ground and milled to the perfect consistency for block/relief printing, Speedball Watersoluble Block Printing Inks print in bold colour and dry to a rich, satin finish. They possess excellent tack ensuring even coverage and consistently spectacular results.Great for printing with linoleum, wood or soft block surfaces, flexible printing plates or polyfoam. Available in 16 brilliant colours, 5 metallics and 6 fluorescents. All colours clean up easily with soap and water and are safe to use in the classroom. Lightfastness varies from fair to excellent, except for the fluorescents, which have poor lightfastness.

The Liquid Pigment contains no chalk, fillers dryers or polymers and the addition of honey give the colours a brilliant, vibrant appearance that dry with a luminous finish. It has a slow drying formula which will allow for an extended working time to create images on a monotype plate. It is thick in consistency which is perfect for both additive and reductive monotype techniques. It can be mixed into Akua Intaglio Inks or the Transparent Base to create new colours, it can also be printed on top or beneath Akua Intaglio inks for multi-plate overlays. All colours are lightfast. The Liquid Pigment is rolled directly onto the plate rather than transferring the ink from a separate slab, saving time and money. The pigment can easily be modified to adjust the sheen, thickness and transparency. It prints beautifully on dry paper as it stays wet on the plate, eliminating the need for prior soaking, blotting, flattening and drying. Where the paper will not stretch or shrink, this means that your print will be registered perfectly. The pigment cleans up easily with just water and a rag. As there are no suspension agents added, pigment can settle at the bottom of the bottle. There is a mixing ball enclosed in the squeeze bottle to allow you to easily mix the pigment.
The water-based, high-quality aqua-Linoprint colours contain natural binders such as gum Arabic as well as organic/inorganic pigments. They are easy to apply due to optimum open-times and result in even, sharp prints with fast drying times (wipe-resistant after approx. 15 minutes).

A medium, 1000 grit multiform synthetic waterstone from Japan. On one edge the curved radius changes from 13mm to 3mm over its length. The opposite edge is tapered at an angle of about 40° making it ideal for sharpening the inside of V tools. The overall design allows the sharpening of a wide variety of tools from flat and wide to small narrow gouges and all V tools. The 1000 grit can be described as a medium stone and is used to sharpen to an almost perfect cutting edge. The 4000 grit or fine stone is used for the final hone and polish and will leave the tool ready for use. Before use the stones will need to be soaked in water for 10 to 15 minutes. After use the stones are best air dried and wrapped in a soft cloth for storage.

These grey sheets / blocks of lino are especially made for "linocut" relief printmaking. They are 3.2mm thick, have a fabric backing, and are available in a range of sizes and packs.The surface of the lino is cut away using special lino cutters or a knife to form the basis of the lino print. The block is inked up with a roller (known as a brayer) and this creates a positive image when printed onto paper or fabric. The printing process can be done by hand or with a press. You can use water-based lino ink, oil-based lino ink, or a block printing medium mixed with paint.Please note: sizes are approximate and will vary.

Akua Intaglio Ink was originally formulated for intaglio printmaking, however this ink can also be applied with a brayer for relief printmaking, monotype, and collagraphs; and it will print from any plastic, wood, linoleum or metal plate. It is a soy based ink which is made with high quality lightfast pigments. The inks have a thick consistency with minimal water content and contain no toxic driers - this means a longer working time. The ink cleans up easily with a dry rag followed by soap and water. Inexpensive liquid dish detergent can be used. Never use toxic solvents. Prints can be re-soaked immediately after printing if handled carefully. Once the print is dry, Akua Intaglio is permanent. Ink will never skin or harden in the jar or the ink slab, meaning minimal ink is wasted. Wiping the plate with Akua Intaglio is easier than wiping oil-based ink, meaning you need to spend less time cleaning up. |
